Father: Palin showed grit at early age

Chuck Heather, Palin's father, says it hasn't settled in yet that his daughter, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, is running for vice president.
Chuck Heather, Palin's father, says it hasn't settled in yet that his daughter, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, is running for vice president.

WASILLA, Alaska (CNN) - Gov. Sarah Palin's father never imagined that his "little girl" would run for the vice presidency, but he knows his daughter's determination made her a success when others, including himself, expected her to fail.

"I look back on Sarah's perseverance, and whatever she wanted to do, she put her nose to the grindstone, especially in sports," Chuck Heath told CNN in an extensive interview in his Wasilla, Alaska, home. "If she didn't have a certain ability, she worked and worked and worked until she obtained that ability or skill."

Sen. John McCain, the Republican presidential nominee, surprised the political world when he picked Palin, a first-term governor from Alaska, to be his running mate nearly two weeks ago. The interview with Palin's father will be included in "Sarah Palin Revealed," a documentary that will air on CNN at 9 p.m. ET Saturday and Sunday.

Heath, a retired science teacher and coach who now works with the federal Wildlife Services Program, said his daughter started exhibiting her stubborn streak at an early age.

"Sarah, she was something else," he said. "I wasn't mean to her. I was stern with her, but I could seldom bend her if she made up her mind on something."

Hey Pops – she isn't a little girl anymore – this is the big leagues and politics is a mean and rough game! Obama has gone through h e l l the past 19 months on the campaign trail and now it is time for Ms. Puppet to do the same. She needs to come on out and start talking to the 'real' reporters and answer some tough questions. Just because she is a woman she should NOT get special treatment!

Who knows if she's wacko? That's the whole point! It will be impossible to find out what kind of leader Sarah Palin will be since the vast majority of people had never heard of her before McCain picked her – and there's less than 2 months before the election. Shame on McCain for putting the voters in such a bad position.

Now the women in Alaska are wearing fake lips.

I remember the delegates at the previous GOP Convention wearing "purple hearts" on their faces and laughing. Trust me when I say, my father, wife and I were quite offended with making fun of the recepients of the Purple Heart and will never vote for anyone that treats Veterans that way.

Palin/McCain – Bad for America, bad for Vet's

    Forget about Palin.

Take a look at what McCain has been doing to get ready to be president:

Seriously America, we have nobody to blame but ourselves if we elect John McCain.

If Mrs. Palin could be a VP, that would be the lowest point in the US history. It would also be, potentially, a turning point for America turn to the second level country in the future. Who will choose Mrs. Palin? McCain or Americans? We will see what is the chioce of this nation.

I'll take the Cocky Wacko over the Cocky Pinko any day.

Four years from now, when all those rights that you had in Fly-over Country are taken away by the Democratic majority, you will think as I do.

Four years from now, after your employers have shut down because of the grinding regulation, and moved your job offshore, you will think as I do

Four years from now, when your state, local, and federal taxes are skyrocketing because there just aren't enough rich folks to soak anymore, you will think as I do.

Four years from now, when you southerners are hauled before a federal judge for displaying your Stars and Bars, you will think as I do.

Four years from now, after the Feds have outlawed your hunting rifle and hiked taxes on ammunition by 500%, and required expensive new labeling and tracing requirements on ammuntion, you will think as I do.

Four years from now, when you are still renting because the federal government has mandated that you can't get a loan unless you are either already rich or desperately poor, you will think as I do.

Four years from now, when you cannot live in or near a major city because enforcement has gone to heck, you will think as I do.

Four years from now, when your 401(k) and IRA are in the toilet because american business just can't compete anymore, you will think as I do.

Go ahead, vote for socialism. It always loses in the end. I can wait.

Rasmussen, 9/9/08 (from registration-restricted crosstabs, likely voters):

    Among all voters:

    39% very favorable
    17% somewhat favorable
    14% somewhat unfavorable
    26% very unfavorable

Gee, approval ratings are just a few points off of 60% for the "wildly popular governor." But, let's look a little closer at those numbers. Conservatives love her, but what about moderates? Those numbers paint a different picture:

    20% very favorable
    15% somewhat favorable
    26% somewhat unfavorable
    35% very unfavorable
    3% not sure

Only 35% of moderates view her favorably. In other words, among this key block of voters, Pinocchio Palin is doing about as well as President Bush. For comparison purposes, Joe Biden is viewed favorably by 70% of moderates.

She is too extreme for this country right now. And her selection proves that McCain lacks the necessary judgment to govern our great nation.

    Too extreme, too risky.

Sio now McCain is claiming the Palin is one of the most expert on energy, that Alaska supplies 20% of America's energy when it is actually about 3.5 and that she is responsible for getting a pipeline built which is totally false as this is only a proposal now. I think the Canadians will have a great deal to say about a pipeline going through their land.

McCain has now gone right over the cliff on honesty. I hope CNN and the other news organizations are going to cover these lies.

  25. More Phony Outrage

    What a surprise!

Republicans are crying foul at anyone who thinks that Palin's dad is meaningless to the election.

The Republicans are pretty good at the D's:

    Divert

    Deny

    Divide

    Degrade

    Destroy (the economy)

Go to Obama's website and do what you can to register voters and get out the vote on Novemeber 4th.
