Father: Palin showed grit at early age

Chuck Heather, Palin's father, says it hasn't settled in yet that his daughter, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, is running for vice president.
Chuck Heather, Palin's father, says it hasn't settled in yet that his daughter, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, is running for vice president.

WASILLA, Alaska (CNN) - Gov. Sarah Palin's father never imagined that his "little girl" would run for the vice presidency, but he knows his daughter's determination made her a success when others, including himself, expected her to fail.

"I look back on Sarah's perseverance, and whatever she wanted to do, she put her nose to the grindstone, especially in sports," Chuck Heath told CNN in an extensive interview in his Wasilla, Alaska, home. "If she didn't have a certain ability, she worked and worked and worked until she obtained that ability or skill."

Sen. John McCain, the Republican presidential nominee, surprised the political world when he picked Palin, a first-term governor from Alaska, to be his running mate nearly two weeks ago. The interview with Palin's father will be included in "Sarah Palin Revealed," a documentary that will air on CNN at 9 p.m. ET Saturday and Sunday.

Heath, a retired science teacher and coach who now works with the federal Wildlife Services Program, said his daughter started exhibiting her stubborn streak at an early age.

"Sarah, she was something else," he said. "I wasn't mean to her. I was stern with her, but I could seldom bend her if she made up her mind on something."

mccain and palin are the biggest joke in the history of american elections, I have never seen such liars and distortions of truth since thelast rovian election by dubya and lord chenader. The GOP are scared because they know the real change is coming and soon they know they are going to be out of power. Yes we the people have made up our minds we are sitting back and waiting until 11/4, then you will see like the primaries the largest number of democrats in history come out and rip power away from the GOP and give it to Obama and Biden, where the power belongs with us. Where we can help the people. Get out your check books GOP ers its payback time. The middle clas is rising up and demanding that we the people are heard. Obama/ Biden, and Clinton will be there and alot of other brilliant democrats this is our time lets take back our country... wake up america Obama is the only one truely for change...

Palin is showing America what is truly in the hearts of each and every liberal Democrat in America. Most of America is good, now that they are seeing the left who they truly are a true American hero, John McCain will be taking residence at 1600 this coming January. Let freedom ring!!!

I invite all Democrats to keep telling everyone how you truly feel about Sarah Palin, better yet all of the Americans who fight for your freedom and make this country what it is in all the small towns and so called fly over country. Even if it wasn't to my benefit, I would fight for your freedom of speech anyway. I love that difference between us.

Very interesting CNN! I guess the next time I am interviewing for a job I will give "MY DAD" as a reference.

Come on CNN. What did you expect him to say?!

How about doing some real reporting and not this sort of TMZ celebrity stuff?

You have to feel kind of sorry for Sarah's daddy. . . it sounds like she was a difficult child to raise. I hope we don't have to finish raising her!

  9. LOVIN PALIN

Sarah Palin is a woman on an opposition ticket to Obama; and that has unleashed the same political, media, racial and gender bias swarmed on Hillary. H. Clinton was cannabilized by her OWN party and people for fear of being called a racist.

PAlin is 50 times tougher than the whining Obama. Now, he has his followers denoting phrases from Obama's own mouth as GOP speak for racial slurs. O DRAMA , what a weak wimpy community organizer

What I'm curious about is why Palin is from the media behind McCain, and why McCain is hiding from the American public behind Palin? I mean, who's running for what office here? He suddenly can't be seen in public without her, and she's incapable of answering questions in an interview? Something is awfully fishy here...

Is palin unable to speak for herself?

it is so chauvinistic to have mccain and his cronies protect her. The women in the House and Senate are able to speak for themselves...why not palin?

Could it be that she has severe foot-in-mouth disease and is undergoing life-saving treatment with tucker bounds?

I'll be so glad when the world is over its love affair with this woman. You'd think she was the second coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All she appears to be, to me, is Dick Cheney with dark hair. She spouts all the republican garbage that the script writers have given her, Same -- different day.Anything to deflect attention away from the issues in this campaign.

Barrack Obama democrats just don't understand how Sarah has their leader falling behind John McCain in the polls. It makes them loose their temper at the fact that this woman could stand in their leaders coronation. Some are still putting down Hillary that other menacing woman who got more of the popular vote than Barrack Obama and dared to stay in the race. But they're taking this race as if it was between Sarah and Obama, LOL she's the VP, But mabe they realize that they've demonized Hillary so much that they now feel vulnerable.Except it is too late, live with your decision to belittle Hillary.

You Democrats really need to stop about the Teleprompter.

The guys is been running for the office for 2 years and all he does is read from the Teleprompter.
Watching Obama in an interview is like watching an amateur trying to act like a statesman.

Oh please no matter how much you say it doesn’t change the fact that Obama is not ready.
You will see it in the debates.

To Puma Palin You got it wrong– Obama is winning in Ohio and Penn. McShame is doing good in Florida and Missouri. Basically, they are in a dead heat. When it's over, people are gonna get their minds right because Jobs-Homes-Education-Energy and much much more is more important then the same mess we have been in from the last 8 years.
