Father: Palin showed grit at early age

Chuck Heather, Palin's father, says it hasn't settled in yet that his daughter, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, is running for vice president.
Chuck Heather, Palin's father, says it hasn't settled in yet that his daughter, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, is running for vice president.

WASILLA, Alaska (CNN) - Gov. Sarah Palin's father never imagined that his "little girl" would run for the vice presidency, but he knows his daughter's determination made her a success when others, including himself, expected her to fail.

"I look back on Sarah's perseverance, and whatever she wanted to do, she put her nose to the grindstone, especially in sports," Chuck Heath told CNN in an extensive interview in his Wasilla, Alaska, home. "If she didn't have a certain ability, she worked and worked and worked until she obtained that ability or skill."

Sen. John McCain, the Republican presidential nominee, surprised the political world when he picked Palin, a first-term governor from Alaska, to be his running mate nearly two weeks ago. The interview with Palin's father will be included in "Sarah Palin Revealed," a documentary that will air on CNN at 9 p.m. ET Saturday and Sunday.

Heath, a retired science teacher and coach who now works with the federal Wildlife Services Program, said his daughter started exhibiting her stubborn streak at an early age.

"Sarah, she was something else," he said. "I wasn't mean to her. I was stern with her, but I could seldom bend her if she made up her mind on something."

Sounds like she's stubborn. So is McCain. So is George Bush. I want a president (if McCain becomes president and he dies, then she's president.) who is willing to learn; willing to listen to all sides; willing to change if necessary.

    Stubborn just doesn't cut it.

As for her experience, remember that the rest of the world (and our enemies) are looking at her credentials also. Hmmmmmmmmm.

CNN, I would personally appreciate it very much if you would give some equal time. I am tired of hearing the McCain/Palin Whine. I think it would have been nice if you would have spent as much time debunking McCain's out and out lies in his ads as you do on cramming Sarah Palin down our collective throats.

Her daddy should have taught her, throwing mud will get you dirty.
Too late, she's covered in mud, right up to her eyeballs.

  4. Typing "CNN, Post this" doesn't mean you have a clue.

For all you small minded morons like Mr. Maher who know zero about this woman, CNN for a change actually offered you insight into the person. all I see in response in this blog from you people are the usual drunken ramblings of the future grocery baggers of america.

If you MUST say something, just focus on the only question you feeble minded ninnies are qualified to ask:
    Paper or plastic?

  5. Bigotry or Not .... Which is it?

Mr. Heath ... Did you teach her to call African Americans "Sambo"?

There is word that she spoke of Senator Obama using this slur about 3 months ago ... and called Hillary the "B" word ... before she knew she'd be the VP nominee of the Republican Party.

I'm withholding judgement for now but I would like clarity around this point.

The 'liars and distortions if truth' is not coming from the right JOHN. Its coming form the left and many times was repeated by the news media and its feeding frenzy about Gov Palin (not former mayor Palin as Sen Obama started to caller)

This race is more transparent than most and the world and America is seeing the true colors of those on the left and the hate and distortions they perpetuate toward Gov Palin.

You are doing to yourselves and your hate and YOUR ignorance may very well lead to conservative wins in the white house for may many elections to come.

The libel, slander, hate genies are out of their bottles and Americans do like what they see. NOT ONE BIT and they will show their disgust in Nov

Hey, guess what, my daughter is Mom of one and head of the PTA, a college graduate, a part time football coach, has a internatinal job and travels the world and has been asked to run for a political position. Her response is I don't see how that qualifies one to be a Vice President.

After the disastrous last 8 years I think it's worth a try to give someone different a chance. With McCain/Palin there's no doubt whatsoever that we are in for 4 more years that will look exactly like the last 8. He voted with Bush 90% of the time and he picked someone who's even more extreme than Bush in her ways.

    No Holy Wars!!

    Too risky
    Too extreme

Since McCain picked her as the pick for vp, ALL we have heard is Sarah, Sarah, Sarah, Sarah .... it is sickening to have her shoved down our throats. Talk about overexposure and overkill by the media.

    Gawd, enough already about her.

Now, I have to go and cook some mooseburgers for supper. Um, I mean hamburgers.

So, basically what Palin's dad is saying is that she's pretty much like any other highly-motivated person. She gets to work to attain what she wants. I don't think anyone faults her for having a great deal of motivation. What she's being faulted for is the complete disregard for ethics she displays. She's being faulted for a complete lack of willingness to listen to others and find the best solutions. What she's being faulted for are radical views that about 90% of America completely or partially disagrees with. What she's also being faulted for is being rather stupid. She's been making up for her lack of IQ by stabbing people in the back, and intimidating people in little towns in Alaska.

Palin should be VERY careful. Alaska politics are pretty much the hometown ball team. In Washington, she'll be playing with the pros. Once the "protection" that the McCain campaign is providing goes away, she'll get eaten alive.

    @PUMA PALIN

Don't get your hopes up on Palin – a lot of women are voting for Obama based on the real issues and the importance of their families future.

I know there are more women out their that don't need to count on Palin to be or feel more like a real woman, than women that do need her just for that reason.

You are outnumbered by woman who actually see what McCain is up to and are woman enough to know.

Just the way it is . . so, get use to it.

    Thanks

McCain hitched his wagon to a "falling star". Karl Rove probably advised him to "pick one, pick any ole woman, voters will never know the diference". WRONG!, the voters have wised up. Too bad McCain went with Karl instead of his own thoughts. It's too late now, the damage is done....I'm voting for Obama this time around.

Most of the people voting for McCain are doing it because they won't vote for a black man. Even if he is so inspiring to the next generation and happens to be a man of principle and intelligence. They live in the past and can't get over their ingrained and inbreed conditioning to think anyone who looks different from them can be good. May God have pity on us all for your failings.

Before you CASH that check you better make sure it wasn't part of the no where to bridge money.

Hey CNN moderators. I don't give a damm if you post this, I talking to you, not the brain damaged people posting here. I have nothing to say to the majority of the people who are bloging here anyway. Most are way too stupid to understand a logical thought.
But I want to thank you for posting all this stuff.
I have been telling everyone who lives in the rational, real world where they can go and see what the scum who support Obama have to say about McCain and Palin. Most had no idea, but they do now. This crap is being cut and pasted to emails and is being sent to interested people all over America.
This is just the kind of stuff the Republican base needs to show all of America who is supporting Obama. The only people who believe this crap are Obama people, but boy does it open up the eyes to the kind of people who will govern this country if Obama wins.
Keep letting this stuff post, this is perfect for the McCain/Palin campaign.
