(CNN) - In the nearly two weeks since Sen. John McCain announced his vice presidential nominee to the world, the Internet rumors about Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin have been flying.
The McCain campaign is taking these seriously, and it's fighting back as well as rebutting charges in the mainstream media.

If this puff of smoke was taken off the leash, the rumors would stop, because the public would have the opportunity to judge for themselves.
You headline omitted the word "fake" between "Palin's" and "image".
She did try to get books banned in Wasilla. Had the librarian acquiesced to her attempt OR if she had been able to successfully oust the librarian and replace her with someone more compliant, books would have been banned. We just don't know how many or which ones. However, if the Pentecostals have a list of "bad" books and we can get the 1996 version, then the mystery would likely be solved.
In a town of 5,000 with only 50 employees, if you force out four higher level people (which she tried), you probably gained the intimidation factor over the rest. Good jobs are hard to find in such a small town and the consequences of getting fired are very great for the victims and their families.
Palin seems to leave a trail of bodies wherever she goes.
mccain and palin are the biggest joke in the history of american elections, I have never seen such liars and distortions of truth since thelast rovian election by dubya and lord chenader. The GOP are scared because they know the real change is coming and soon they know they are going to be out of power. Yes we the people have made up our minds we are sitting back and waiting until 11/4, then you will see like the primaries the largest number of democrats in history come out and rip power away from the GOP and give it to Obama and Biden, where the power belongs with us. The Howard Dean "Eeyaaahhh" has nothing on Palin's pentecostal rants. This lady is wacky! Sarah Barracuda? The should have called her Sarah Barracrazy. Have you seen her videos on-line? What a nut. I understand why the Republicans picked her. But, they did not do their homework and their base has deteriorated steadily since the convention.
Their Palin truth squad smacks of the White House truth squads that put up the walls for Bush in the last eight years so he and his cronies could lie, lie, lie. No need to wrack your brains over the family resemblance — many of the people on the PTS are old Bushies!

Rebutting the rumors about Sarah Palin is a wise and essential considering the facts that most U.S still do not truly know what Sarah Palin stands for. As an Obama supporter or dare I say "loyal follower" I was very happy to see Obama put to rest lies that were told about him.
More importantly though, the McCain campaign needs to allow Sarah conduct more interviews with reporters and she needs to give up that tired campaign speech of hers and focus on the issues.
Then and only then can we know the real Sarah Palin. For me however, its a bit to late, I am an Obama supporter but there is a chance that the McCain campaign might win and it is important to know where Sarah stands on the issues.
Sarah Palin is not so much a Pig as Pygmalion.
There's an army of Henry Higgins swarming around her, trying to turn her into something she's not – an informed leader.
I really hope that America can see through this charade.

Why are the republicans trying to portray palin as the victim? She needs to be vetted just like everyone else. What's wrong with the american public getting some answers to some general questions? Are they afraid she'll make a gaffe?
Well if you keep her locked away from questions and keep feeding her note cards then the uneducated will never figure out she has no substance.

Palin's office approved a state job for a friend and campaign aide with whom she shared a land investment, financial records and interviews over the past two weeks show. She hired a former lobbyist for a pipeline company to help oversee a multibillion-dollar deal with that same company.
And she sent campaign e-mails on her city hall account while serving as mayor of Wasilla — conduct for which she later turned in an oil commissioner on ethics charges.
Can't wait until the Biden/ Palin debates...

They have failed to tell the facts on most things regarding Palin, but that has always been the republican way.
I saw a clip from March 2008 with from her own mouth Sarah Palin said if you are going to run for a public office that you need to toughen up and let things people say roll off your back. She was speaking of Hillary Clinton and her campaign.
Now she has not even been vetted by the press. She will not take questions because she said from what seemed to be day one that the press was rude and sexist towards her. I do not think she is allowed to talk on her own for fear it will show how unqualified she is!!
This women is going for VP of the USA she needs to take her own advice and "toughen up" and don't "whine".
I hope when Charlie Gibson does interview her all this "fluff" will be done with and he hits her hard with questions about her qualifications to run the USA .
I'm willing to give Gov Palin the benefit of the doubt but she really needs to give more interviews so we can understand her views and policies more. As far as digging dirt on politician, it's all fair. They did it for all the other ones, why should she be exempt?
I am really not understanding why she has not started to campaign by herself for McCain, though. Why are they still joined at the hip? We only have less than 60 days to get to know more about her stance on issues. So, come on. Let her loose, and show us what she's worth. Something smells rotten in the state of Denmark.

"Sarah Sideshow" will lose her luster just as soon as the media gets a hold of her. Further, once Obama-Biden force this election back to the issues, Americans will see just how clueless "Sarah Sideshow" ireallyh is. Republicans cannot win on the economy, gas prices, war, education, the home mortgage crisis, etc. Thus, they want to run on "Sarah Sideshow." We cannot and will not let it happen.
