Palin says she didn't hesitate to take VP slot

Gov. Sarah Palin arrived back in Alaska on Wednesday night.
Gov. Sarah Palin arrived back in Alaska on Wednesday night.

(CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she "didn't blink" when Sen. John McCain offered her the Republican vice presidential nomination and is confident she could handle the duties of president if necessary.

"I answered him yes, because I have the confidence in that readiness and knowing that you can't blink," Palin told ABC News in her first interview since accepting the No. 2 slot on the GOP ticket.

"You have to be wired in a way of being so committed to the mission, the mission that we're on - reform of this country and victory in the war. You can't blink. So I didn't blink then even when asked to run as his running mate," she said.

Sarah Palin and John McCain scare the hell out of me.

I just hope Americans have enough brains, especially after the last eight years, to read between the lines and not put the Republicans
    back in.

If they do, I hope they are also prepared to be into more war/wars
and, by the sound of it, before too long.

The Republicans will bankrupt the country and what is going to
happen when China calls in the debt?

CNN are you going to tell the truth about what Gov. Palin really said about if Georgia was a member of NATO we would be expected to step up just like all the other members of NATO? Or are you going to spin it like ABC and say she wants to go to war with Russia? Let see how honest CNN is, your credibility is on the line.

I never thought the Republicans would top Dan Quayle in terms of inexperience and downright ignorance for a vice presidential candidate. But after seeing Charlie Gibson's interview with Sarah Palin, I have seen it all !

I am dumbfounded over the voters that find Palin a viable candidate for vice president of the United States of America.

This woman is so scary. If McCain was to win the election and then die in office, do we really want this woman in charge? If Bush put us in the toilet, Palin will finish flushing us down the pipes and into the sewer.

CNN only showed the first part of Governor Palin's comments on what to do about Russian aggression. They purposely left out her comments about sanctions and diplomacy and ally involvement. CNN is losing credibility when they do this. We are OK with the partial answer as well as the full context answer. It is refereshing to get straight answers from a politician whether we agree or not.
    Kudos to Palin.

Be fair or you will lose more than an election!

For all you Palin bashers, please explain if Barrack is going to be our great and fearless leader, (he has already been compared to Jesus by Democratic Congressman) explain why he is letting a woman VP candidate rattle him? how is he gonna act when he is dealing with world leaders from other countries that hate Americans and are a threat to our country?? Call them Pigs with lipstick and hope he hurts their feelings??? I think you guys would have been better off to support Hillary as your Presidential candidate. I would have highly considered Hillary but Barack scares me!!!

Pleeeeease . . .let the McCain camp believe that she was great and ready for the debate with Biden. Now, that will be MUST SEE TV!!
She could not win a round with my son's high school debate team.
Does she seriously believe that her statement was the same as Lincoln's. Plus, her responses to his questions went round and around and around. . . .SHE NEVER ANSWERED THEM!

P.S. Did anyone else feel real fear following this interview?

The whole campaign McCain has been saying he is the most experienced. So he picks a stewardess and now these 2 people are the party of change? Please, the American people can see through you, well, not all Americans. Bitter Clinton supporters and dumb people think Palin is a good choice.

Based on what I heard and seen of the interview clips...All the Dems have to do is not respond to any comments from Palin and let her talk the Reps out of the election....She looked horrible and scary! What will she look like when someone like O'Reilly or Blitzer questions her...Is there enough time in the day to teach her the Bush Doctrine. Are the Reublicans all about war and war only!

    Now for Obama

Ohio, Florida, Virginia and possibly Missouri will decide the election. It will be interesting to see if the people suffering in those states stick with what got them there or step out and go a new direction.

Palin's answers seem to lack a sense of authenticity, especially the responses to Isreal. Palin basically gave the same answer four times. It was too scripted and revealed a serious lack of knowledge in foreign policy for a VP candidate. McCain should have picked someone more experienced in international affairs, especially at this critical time.
