Palin says she didn't hesitate to take VP slot

Gov. Sarah Palin arrived back in Alaska on Wednesday night.
Gov. Sarah Palin arrived back in Alaska on Wednesday night.

(CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she "didn't blink" when Sen. John McCain offered her the Republican vice presidential nomination and is confident she could handle the duties of president if necessary.

"I answered him yes, because I have the confidence in that readiness and knowing that you can't blink," Palin told ABC News in her first interview since accepting the No. 2 slot on the GOP ticket.

"You have to be wired in a way of being so committed to the mission, the mission that we're on - reform of this country and victory in the war. You can't blink. So I didn't blink then even when asked to run as his running mate," she said.

Did you see her on the Bush Doctrine question? She doesn't even know what it is?

The woman who didn't know what the VP's job entailed now thinks she can handle the duties of a President? She's kidding, right?

C'mon guys & gals. Put the pit bull/barracuda/whatever animal she's impersonating today back in its kennel and let's move on in a new, better direction for this country.

Accepting an invitation to be a VP nominee is what any politician would do, it's a heartbeat away of the pinnacle of politics. But...

Obama is truly something special. I'm surprised he's not furious with McCain after McCain's recent ad, the most deplorable ad I've seen in American politics in my lifetime. (Everyone should know which ad I mean.) He was cordial and kind, as he should be on a day of remembrance and mourning.

It's nice to know we can have a little breather and remind ourselves we're all part of the same country, and that the more we conceive of each other as enemies, the more any true enemies can take advantage of us.

PS – Any "democrat" for McCain can be only one of three things: A liar, a fool or a racist. Voting McCain/Palin goes against everything Democrats stand for, especially when we have two great champions running for the Democratic party. I have no problem with sticking with your party; Republican, Democrat, Independent or other; genuinely based on beliefs and values. But stop lying. Stop calling each other names, and stop making enemies of your fellow Americans. Please.

Obama/Biden 08 – Because of my values and beliefs. Simple.

Her mission should have been her teenage daughter. Oh, I guess that mission was too difficult because she was running the state.

Of course she didn't hesitate. More power to you Palin -more power for you to abuse, right?

Too bad you don't have the adequate experience to convience enough American voters to get you into the White House to be catered too.

Sorry, the ticket to Washington already has Obama and Biden names on them.

Okay people.....if someone who has been nomintated for the highest office in the land and ask you to join him you are telling me you would say "no" or contemplate it? Get real.....ready or not here I come. My philosophy as is hers "I will figure it out as I go." "Don't hate the player people hate the game!" Now do I really want McCain/Palin to run our country.......HELL NO I don't! But Jonny it is a free country and you may choose whoever you wish and I thank you for picking Palin because you just sealed your fate! Yippie......NO MORE BUSHY!!!

She had no idea what the Bush Doctrine was. That was probably the one question McSames staff didn't obtain prior to the interview. She is a hot mess!

First off, let me say that I am an ardent supporter of Obama / Biden, so those Republican supports that read this can tak this however you wish to take this....

From what I have read of the transcripts an heard via video clip, she seems to take direction from handlers very well. I think it is very telling that she says she didn't even blink, when McCain asked her to be VEEP, hummmmm no thought of how this may effect your family? No thought to how this would effect your home state? Not a single pause to examine if you really really have what it takes to do the job?

"You have to be wired in a way of being so committed to the mission, the mission that we're on — reform of this country and victory in the war. You can't blink. So I didn't blink then even when asked to run as his running mate,"

This is the very reason we are in a War right now... because the current Republican Administration did not pause to think, they did not "Blink" as you say to determine if this was the right thing to do.

That is the very reason we are in the dire economic conditions we are in.
That is the very reason this Country is experiencing the problems abroad that we are.
Gov. Palin, do you know what happens to your eyes when you don't blink? They become dirty, you loses focus, you develop tunnel vision, you lose periperal vision , and eventually you lose the ability to see what you were looking at in the first place.
We cannot afford a POTUS / VPOTUS that are so "committed" that they refuse to see the forest for the trees.
We need a leader that will examine all possible solutions, that has shown wise judgement, sound logical thinking, a willingness to do what is necessaryt to safegaurd this great nation and its people, but not blindly and without thourough consideration.
I for one, do not want someone who pushes the button first, and asks the questions later!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this job requires more than a blink.. A blink means you din't take time to thoughtfully think about the position, the people in America or your family.

You need to do more than blink about such an important position...

    YOU NEED TO THINK..!!

    ***

Obama/Biden for real Leadership... not just a blink...

It's obvious that the Obama camp and the left-wing are deathly afraid of Palin, that's why they are viciously attacking her. This will only hurt the Democrats and help the Republicans. I love it, hahaha. And to those thay say she is not qualified, huh??? Barack Hussein Obama is qualified???? Give me a break. Even Biden stated that he has no qualifications or experience to become president. And Obama selects him for VP? Is that stupidity or poor judgement???

Watching that interview, was truly frightening. Let's see - they want to drill the world to swiss cheese and start a war with Russia. This is nuts. Make it stop!

There is ONE reason for all the liberal comments – FEAR. Fear of the hockey mom with a mission. Not ready for this responsibility??? That's bunk. It's about time a REAL American get elected. What the White House needs now – more than ever – is a mom with strength and values. Forget the rest of them – Palin is a REAL American – a pitbull with lipstick IF YOU CAN'T PLAY WITH THE BIG DOGS, STAY ON THE PORCH! Palin is it for 2008!

It's obvious that the media is consumed with bringing this woman down. Since her nomination by Sen. McCain, it's apparent by the polls that this team presents a legitimate threat against Obama/Biden. Those who support the Democratic team will do their utmost to scandalize her in any way possible. The media seems to be coming out with a new allegation every day and one wonders exactly how many people they have in Alaska researching her history. They will continue to scrutinize and attempt to rid this threat until it's done. Count on it and some wonder about "media bias". It's there folks!

From what I saw, I think she did very well. She certainly interviews alot better than Obama, who comes across as hesitant and unsure. Her answers were crisp and confident. But let's wait till we see the interview in full.

That's the GOP plan–manufacture fear in the world: danger, danger, danger everywhere! Country First! (sounds a little like idolatry). Let's keep everyone distracted and focused on this "scary post-911 world, " meanwhile our deficit is increasing, we are in debt to the Chinese, we need better health care and a plan to keep jobs in the US–just a few days ago we lost 100s of jobs down in Peachtree City, GA to Mexico. Where's the GOP plan for that? Silence...I am at a lost as to how Georgia is leading for McCain/Palin...

Interesting that she didn't hesitate to accept the offer to be VP in Sep. of 2008 since in July, 2008 she was on tape saying that she didn't know what the VP did!!!! How bizarre is that? Don't want her representing me!!! Foreign affairs experience-"I live near Russia"? Give me a break!!!!

Oh my, now I'm REALLY scared! Sometimes people have so much confidence and bravado that it sounds like they know what they're talking about. She was clearly coached, and anything that wasn't in the "lesson plan" was fumbled terribly. She did not answer the questions that Charlie posed, and she danced around and around them. Props to Charlie for pressing her for specific answers, which were never forthcoming. She may get an "A" for Washington-speak, but she flunked the knowledge and readiness test in my book! Awful!

The God I love and worship would NEVER use religion for politics just to win. I and many other Christians are deeply offended that you have taken it upon yourself to 'reform' the world claiming it's in the name of our loving God. I'm sorry Sarah but that is not your responsibilty, that is God's job. Our job is to love our fellow man. Loving includes tolerance. Jesus is the light of the world, not darkness; Jesus is truth and not lies.

    hello Bush the second...
    or is it the third...
    or after McCain the fourth...?
