Rove to Obama: Attacking Palin is dumb

(CNN) – Karl Rove is again offering unsolicited advice to Barack Obama, this time advising the Democratic presidential nominee to avoid attacking Sarah Palin directly if he hopes to win the White House in November.

“It's a match-up he'll lose," Rove writes Thursday in his regular Wall Street Journal column. "If Mr. Obama wants to win, he needs to remember he's running against John McCain for president, not Mrs. Palin for vice president."

Rove notes past attempts by Democratic presidential nominees to attack the No. 2 on the GOP ticket have largely fell flat, and says the issues Obama is hitting Palin on are ones the Illinois senator is weak on himself.

"If Mr. Obama keeps attacking Mrs. Palin, he could suffer the fate of his Democratic predecessors. These assaults highlight his own tissue-thin résumé, waste precious time better spent reassuring voters he is up for the job, and diminish him - not her," Rove writes.

Specifically, Rove says it is not in Obama's interest to attack the Alaska governor on her lack of experience or the earmarks she has requested - two issues, Rove says, on which voters may also question Obama's record.

Since she was named to the GOP ticket two weeks ago, Obama has rarely called out Palin directly, often attacking both her and McCain together as representing a continuation of President Bush's policies. But in an interview on CNN last week, Obama suggested his executive experience surpassed Palin's.

“My understanding is that Gov. Palin’s town, Wasilla, has I think 50 employees," he said. "We've got 2500 in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe 12 million dollars a year – we have a budget of about three times that just for the month."

He also on Sunday called out her claim she is an anti-earmark reformer, saying "I know the governor of Alaska has been saying she's change, and that's great…[but] when you've been taking all these earmarks when it's convenient, and then suddenly you're the champion anti-earmark person, that's not change….you can't just make stuff up."

Who gives a rat's butt what KarlRove thinks? He is one of the most unethical, lying men ever to be in politics.

    Ignorant and apathetic people!

I'm sure the republicans are thanking God for 9/11 so taht they have one more day wehre Palin does not have to answer any questions.

According to a press statement put out today, after the interview with Charlie Gibson of ABC News this evening, Palin will NOT be giving any more interviews and will NOT campaign on her own, but only with mcCain so that they can keep a close eye on her.

That comes directly from the McCain camp. Any itnelligent person would realize that this woman is not qualified and if she can't hold her own in interviews how in the hell is she supposed to deal wtih dangerous world leaders as V.P., or possibly president?

Intelligent people? NEVER UNDERSTIMATE THE STUPIDITY OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY WHITE WOMEN WHO VOTE REPUBLICAN.

Karl Rove predicted a Republican victory in 2006. Right now this porcine little war criminal is doing his best to turn the election into "American Idol." HIs dreams of a Thousand Year Reich will come tumbling around his ears in November!

First of all Obama hasn't attacked Palin. He's tried to stick to the issues but all this "lipstick" non-troversy has been getting in the way. The Obama Camp knows attacking Palin is not a good idea, which is why they aren't doing it. I can't wait for the debates!

Does anybody think Obama would take advice from Karl Rove? He should just be glad he's not in prison (yet) and stay out of this election.

Advice from Karl Rove is like taking advice from the devil. Why would he give Barack advice when he's plotting with John McCain to defeat him.

CNN, this is the stupidest article you've ever posted. Karl Rove should be under the jail, along with Dick Cheney and Bush. Don't both sincere Americans who actually care about the country with this trash. Otherwise, you're a bigger pig than he is.

Shot up your mouth Karl Rove. Perhaps you do not know that you are the most dishonourable man in USA. We are waiting patiently on the outcome of your case. You are not in a position to advise Obama on what to do. Pocket your advice, shameless man.

It looks like Ohio, Florida, Virginia and possibly Missouri will be the deciding states this year...It will be interesting to see if the people suffering in those states stick with what got them there or step out and go a new direction.

I wouldn't take Karl Rove's word that night's dark and day's light; and I'm sick of seeing his name in the press. Why does the media subsidize sleazemerchants like this (and Dick Morris) when there are so many competent (David Gergen, for example) political experts available?

I actually agree with Rove for once. (Ouch, it hurt to type that).

Obama needs to refocus on the issues and not the the 24 hour news networks dictate what issues he is speaking about. The 24 hour media networks like Fox, CNN, and MSNBC latch on to any story that gets rating and rides it untill its dead. It's a pretty obvious pattern that consists of covering the issue themselves then have a day of coverge consisting of asking why all the other media outlets are covering it. Pathetic.

The McCain campaign does not want anyone to say anything about Sarah. I am sure that she is a great person, but it is a dangerous choice for her to be VP. I care about the safety of this country and I don't want her with the nuclear codes. Thanks but no thanks Mrs. Palin.

Obama never attacked her. If he did, then John McCain attacked Hillary when he said "you can put lipstick on a pig but it is still a pig" when referring to her health care plan.
