CNN poll of polls: McCain ahead by two points

Sen. Obama trails Sen. McCain by two points in Friday's CNN poll of polls.
Sen. Obama trails Sen. McCain by two points in Friday's CNN poll of polls.

(CNN) – Sen. John McCain continues to have a slight advantage over rival Sen. Barack Obama in the latest CNN poll of polls released Friday afternoon. McCain is now ahead by 2 percentage points – 46 percent to Obama’s 44 percent - with 10 percent unsure about their choice for president. In Thursday’s CNN poll of polls, McCain was ahead by one point – 46 percent to 45 percent.

“The race for the White House has essentially been a dead heat since the Republican Convention,” noted CNN Senior Political Researcher Alan Silverleib. “Barring something dramatic and unexpected, the horserace numbers are not likely to change very much at least until the debates. As we inch closer to Election Day, the pool of truly undecided voters continues to shrink.”

Friday’s CNN poll of polls is comprised of the following three surveys: Fox News/Opinion Dynamics (September 8-9), Gallup (September 9-11), and Diageo/Hotline (September 9-11). The poll of polls does not have a sampling error.

When the 5 million cellphone only users come out for Obama..this thing will be over in his favour come Nov. 4th. Don't be fooled by these polls..they don't tell the whole story.

I can't believe anyone would take overall polling seriously right now. If any polls are close to being correct they are state polls. This race will be won in mid-october. I'm an independent voting democrat this time. The conservative ticket is not at all impressive.

I did a rondom poll in Texas, yes Texas, of 1022 registered voters and found that the numbers are 60% for Obama and 39% for McCain. That is a lie. Maybe I should apply for a job with the McCain camp but since I'm not a lobbyist, I probably wouldn't get hired.

I think Biden wishes that he wasn't picked as vp for Barack's presidential run. But it's too late to bail out now.

The only "poll" I'm interested in is the one that comes out November 5. CNN/Fox, at any rate, are focusing on news as they see fit to improve their ratings. I'm still waiting for more fair and balanced reporting, like equal coverage of Biden. I've got a headache!

    Great news. Keep it up!

Meanwhile, Obama is going to give a major speech on keeping our tires inflated. And of course he'll also call Gov. Palin a pig, and John McCain old. That's pretty much all he's got, except for his zombie-like followers.

The faster Obama loses, the better.

if the media would stop their fascination with Palin and do their job..Palin's extreme record would be revealed, as well as her unethical conduct, and McCain would look like the impulsive and reckless hot head he is for choosing her...

wake up america!! these polls are skewed because millions of new voters are likely not included, cell phone numbers of voters aged 18-34 are not included..and these are by far Obama supporters.

so..let's get to the issues and then we'll see where the polls go!

go Obama Biden..the only logical and safe and progressive choice for this country!!

Do all the Hillary supporters who are voting for Obama realize that

    A) Giving Palin 4 years of experience will not help Hillary in 2012 and
    B) Doing so will result in Roe v Wade being overturned, not to mention the Supreme Court being dominated by Conservatives for many years to come.

Wow, talk about only voting based on Gender. Even if it goes as you think it will and Hillary gets elected in 2012, she will be stuck with a radically conservative Supreme court.

This is telling in a very depressing way about the American people. How anyone can support McCain's disgusting, dishonest campaign, or be excited about an unqualified, ignorant VP choice, is completely beyond me. I'm just an informed, registered independent, and I used to be a fan of McCain's. But he's compromised his principles to an unbelievable extent in this campaign, and I no longer have any respect for him. Anyone who's being honest and objective about the subject would have to agree....

The Electoral College is the "only poll" that matters and it is on a state by state basis........Don't forget the ever increasing "cell phone" population!

they are doing it close like this because when the Republicans steel this election again the corporate media will make sure it does not look like the fraud that it will be.

a scary day if MCCain wins....

for all the people who support and fight for lies and distorted truth to fit their needs to win(McCain campain, against Obama), what are you going to do if the "change" McCain and absolutely clueless, power greedy, blind Palin promote will further put us in debt, puts as a ridicule to the rest of the world, and compromises our safety, based on what they say... and who knows what they will do?

    OBAMA/BIDEN
