Investigator wants subpoena for Palin's husband

Todd Palin sat with his wife, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, during the final night of the Republican convention.
Todd Palin sat with his wife, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, during the final night of the Republican convention.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (CNN) - A special counsel has asked Alaskan lawmakers to subpoena Gov. Sarah Palin's husband and a dozen aides as part of the investigation into Palin's firing of her public safety commissioner.

Todd Palin has been a "principal critic" of his wife's ex-brother-in-law, State Trooper Mike Wooten, and had "many contacts" with Department of Public Safety officials about his status, said Steve Branchflower, the former prosecutor hired by the state Legislature to investigate the firing.

Sarah Palin, now the Republican nominee for vice president, is battling allegations that she and her advisers pressured then-Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan to fire Wooten - and that Monegan was canned when he refused.

Palin has said she fired Monegan over budget issues and denies any wrongdoing.

The claim that McCain could bring change to Washington is the biggest lie in this campaign. Not only are his policies the exact same as Bushes, and not only did he vote him with 91% of the time, but his VP pick is mired in the same kind of scandals as Bush. This is the same kind of stuff as the Justice Department lawyer firings. If you aren't going to change the policies, and you aren't going to chance the character, what the hell are you going to change?

This race will come down to lies over race. Race will be still the main reason why they will not vote for Obama even though they know Mcsame is a liar and will give them 4 more years of the same. I am glad Roland Martin is airing regrading will gender, race, or age be the termering factor in this race. IT WILL BE RACE of course. Most American know Mcsame/Palin are not fit to run the USA, but will vote for him and her because they look like them.

During Palin's first interview did anyone else but me notice how she treated the interviewer ? She kept saying his name like what right do you have to question me about these things ? Can you imajine what she'd be like if she gets elected?? Man , people better wake up ! This person personifies every trait that people dislike about females !! She is snippy, condescending , and actually I believe she thinks she is above the Mortal crowd . I'm not joking ! The Media better start treating her like a person instead of using kid gloves because she is a woman ! Obama was ripped apart by the Media, rightly so ! These people are running for the two most important jobs in the free wold ! We deserve to know a heck of a lot more than the republicans are willing to let us, about Palin !! There is nothing sexist about any questions !! Hillary said, if you can't take the heat , get out of the kitchen !!!

Hey, this is funny. The proverbial skeleton in the closet is turning into a cemetary.

Let's keep putting all this stuff out there.

    Nobody is above the law.

And how can you choose a person to be your VP running mate when they're ALREADY under investigation?

I read that Sarah Palin's staff is trying to push this investigation past the elections. It better be wrapped up BEFORE the elections.

Again, nobody is above the law. (You, too, Bush, Cheney, and Rove; your days in court will come.)

Sarah Palin is in no way qualified to be vice-president, much less to step into the presidency.
Her foreign policy experience is ....oh wait - SHE HAS NONE!
It is insulting to our intelligence for Rove and his minions to have picked this woman for McCain to tout around.
Those who are critical of Sen. Obama by saying he has no experience have no room to support Sarah Palin.
Haven't we "been there, done that" for the past eight years?
    ENOUGH!

    BARACK ON!

Almost reminds me of Hillary's travel gate. I wonder if the state trooper was doing his job like he was suppose to and Palin too just wanted to move her cronies into that slot to repay them for their loyality??

Its funny that in America you are guilty until proven innocence in the court of public opinion. Let the legal process take its course. In the end, history will show that there was no wrong doing and that the Palin's will be exonerated of all accussations. Remember, a cheif executive officer can change his or her cabinet as he or she chooses without explaination just like a CEO of a major company. I think those who are using this subpoena issue to destroy the character of the Palin's better get a life, stop asking the government for handouts and work hard for a change!

And they call "Chicago politics" dirty...

Evidently, Chicago can't touch Alaska in that category.

Sarah Palin fits right in with the GOP (CORRUPT).

The Reformer, as she is being touted, already is under investigation for abuse of power and is known to have threatened the jobs of library staff for refusing to get rid of books written by a Christian liberal writer that was at odds with her church. Yeah right, reformer. And then there's the straight talkin' man of honor John McCain who after being abused by George Bush's smear machine 8 years ago, has hired these same people on to do the same to Obama. Thes are not mavericks nor reformers. These are lying hypocrites and the American public is not stupid enough to vote them in this time.

McCain should cut his losses and dump Palin. Oh wait.....did I say that???? She is perfect for the ticket...lies,mistruths and coverups. Getting out the vote for the Democrats.Obama-Biden is where the truth lies.

I have a comment to all those who think that McCain/Palin is a good ticket: Why? Not once have they answered how they are going to change and reform Washington. McCain said he wants to be just a one term President. That in it self is scary. Also I noticed that if you don't agree with what the REPs say they dismiss and hate on everything anyone else says. They know that McCain is not a good pick but they still want him. This makes me believe that REPUBLICAN PARTY is a place for undercover racist who just think they are voting against all other races. You people need to get a grip and come to terms that America is changing is no longer lilly white and in control. And to prove my point what other reason would a democrat have for going to a REP other than he doesn't want to vote for a man that represents what america is : A Melting Pot. Because Obama is not just black he is white too..and I think that is getting lost on a lot of people.

Define confiendence when you say they have legal rights to withhold inforamation that may have caused the taxpayers fraudulent money. What is Todd knows information that Sarah was illegally using her office to campaign to have officials fired? The same thing Sarah herself turned in another man who was forced to resign.

Oh no ... are the right wing conservatives posting blogs about how scared the left wing liberals are??? That is so intelligent guys!!!! By the way (ahem), I want to add my own, liberal, two cents in, can I please?

Palin's interview was so scripted it was sickening and as far as this article goes, this is what happens when you don't vet properly. You get a Dr. Seuss VP candidate!!!!!!!

    1) It gets more evident how corrupt this family is, seeking to fire your own (ex) family member...family values my butt

    2) It should be noted the reason, "Budget Matters" which would indicate that her admiministration SUCKED from an economic stand point.

This lady isn't terrifying, unless we elect her. Let's not put Incompetence and corruption in the white house...do not vote for Insane McCain and his Pupil Palin.

I am sure Palin will be found innocent and then Obama's followers will have to get back to the fact that he is running against McCain, not Palin and McCain has substance, he doesn't just talk.

That showed what kind of change McCain wants: he chose a white babe who is under investigation for misuse of power and who managed to cover up her pregnancy for 7 months and even her labor for the whole day. Palin is a DISGUISE MASTER. So does McCain want us to CHANGE FOR THE WORSE? Even worse than Bush?

Dems. forget it--it won't stick-you see you can't argue issues or anything else against Sarah Palin because it's her persona that America loves and it drives people wild. Just look at the crowds and TV audiences she draws and look at how she got into Obama's head and turned the polls around.

No it's too late. When Obama dumped Hillary, he opened the way for Sarah thereby signing his own death warrant.

I think that the Palen's should both be questioned about the abuse of power of the governor. But her administration wants to stop the whole thing. Watch, the republicians will try to stop this, The republicans in our state tried to the same.
