Investigator wants subpoena for Palin's husband

Todd Palin sat with his wife, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, during the final night of the Republican convention.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (CNN) - A special counsel has asked Alaskan lawmakers to subpoena Gov. Sarah Palin's husband and a dozen aides as part of the investigation into Palin's firing of her public safety commissioner.

Todd Palin has been a "principal critic" of his wife's ex-brother-in-law, State Trooper Mike Wooten, and had "many contacts" with Department of Public Safety officials about his status, said Steve Branchflower, the former prosecutor hired by the state Legislature to investigate the firing.

Sarah Palin, now the Republican nominee for vice president, is battling allegations that she and her advisers pressured then-Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan to fire Wooten - and that Monegan was canned when he refused.

Palin has said she fired Monegan over budget issues and denies any wrongdoing.

I for one don't bye the polls right now. The canidates haven't had their dbates and McCain/Palin continues to lie and steal DEMS slogans for change. I know WHITE, RICH, RACIST, AMERICA STILL SUPPORTS THIS CRAP OF A CAMPAIGN(MCCAIN/PALIN).

QUESTION: WHY PEOPLE CONTINUE TO BE BRAINWASHED AND BELIEVE IN LIES? PLEASE COMMENT

  4. Bet it doesn't happen

I'm willing to be good money he will not be subpoena and he will never testify! This will be blocked by the McCain administration and they all will come out smelling like roses even if they did something unethical!

Big time cover up just wait and see.

PS. Watch some of these republicans try and blame this on Obama and clearly he or his staff had nothing to do with this. This started long before Palin was even heard of.

There should be no exception. Fair is fair. We don't want a VP who is using her/his power to get what they want. HE/SHE need to follow the law like everybody else.

This is a "Witch Hunt", and is only being done to try and smear Palin. The democrats are pulling out all stops to try and make Palin look dirty. It is the only way that Obama has a chance of beating McCain.

Obama will do anything to include dirty tricks to uncover or even make-up stuff to smear Palin. Where is this new type of politician that Obama said he was going to be?

Obama cannot beat McCain/Palin in November, so now he will do anything to include dirty tricks to make either McCain or Palin look bad!

I am a Hillary Clinton supporter that is voting for McCain/Palin for the main reason that the Democrat "Super Delegates" chose Obama over Hillary Clinton to support and the fact that Obama chose Biden over Hillary Clinton for his VP.

The sole reason Pubs appointed the most crook Governor on this ticket, was because they knew she would be exposed and then they could play the "Victim-Card". To further ensure, they are telling her to lie after lie so that Obama gets angry and retaliate, then they can say, "Another white woman victimized by another black man". Shame on the neo-cons. Shame on McBush.

Another hypocritcal ad by Obama. He claims to be a UNITER after he split the democratic party by not picking Hillary for VP.

This shouldn't be an issue for McCain/Palin as they are transparent reformers. They have nothing to hide...

John McCain is not worried about Sarah Palin. Once he’s safely in office he will probably send her to a cloak closet in the Old Executive Building, never to be heard from again. Unencumbered he can then do exactly as he pleases. End of problem.
But not for the rest of us. If for some reason he can’t fulfill his term we will have to endure months or years of this superstitious and vindictive woman with her finger on the red button.

If there was no wrong doing , no abuse of power ,then why do they even need to subpoena ?,She said "hold me accountable"....its not fair to the public to delay this investigation until after the election. It would seem transparency would be to her benefit if there is nothing for her to hide.

Smear, lie, and hide. This "special counsel" investigator, is he a democrat or MSNBC reporter by chance?

How about we request this same "special counsel" to subpoena Biden and see if he took any of the millions of dollars his son is alleged to have stolen and frauded.

How about we request this same "special counsel" to subpoena Obama's birth records? To see if he can even legally become president?

How about the democrats get over their obsession with this outstanding woman before she end's up like Princess Di?

Why isn't the news media focusing on this??? She claims such great ethic reform, but is under investigations for ethics violations?

Ohh give me a break. The trooper was a drunk who threatened small children. The guy threatened his wife's father! He should have been let go sooner. You better believe if I was governor I wouldn't let anyone stand in my way of getting rid of this guy. She fired a public servant anyway! It's not like this guy was a hard working 9-5er who can't find another job. Palin will not stand for do nothing bureaucrates. I would hope American's would support her during this sharade.

Does anyone else notice that McCain doesn't wear a flag pin? Even at ground Zero… no flag pin. Now I don't see why he NEEDS to wear one, but I wonder why Obama got attacked for not wearing one, but McCain seems to get away with it without any comment.

The same ole corruption as the past eight years–no thanks McCain/Palin. Eight is enough.

Since the "View" article is closed, please be advised that "reform" is code for fundamentalist ideology to the far right. Just say no to theocracy. Scary.

God bless America and its freedoms!

Let's hope the witnesses show up this time. I'm really starting to think that Palin has something to hide and that the McCain campaign knows it. Switching a male politician who thinks he's above the law for a female one who thinks the same is not exactly progress (or "reform") in my book.
