McCain ad slams Obama, Senate Democrats on immigration

New McCain ad blames Obama and Democrats for death of immigration overhaul effort.

New McCain ad blames Obama and Democrats for death of immigration overhaul effort.

(CNN) -
John McCain’s campaign is running a Spanish language ad in battleground states that blames Barack Obama and Senate Democrats for the failure of attempts to overhaul the nation’s immigration laws - even though the Republican nominee and his Democratic counterpart cast identical votes in the key Senate showdowns on that issue last year

“Obama and his congressional allies say they are on the side of immigrants. But are they?” asks the announcer in the 30-second spot, “Which Side Are They On?”

“The press reports that their efforts were 'poison pills' that made immigration reform fail,” he continues. “The result: No guest worker program. No path to citizenship. No secure borders. No reform. Is that being on our side? Obama and his Congressional allies ready to block immigration reform, but not ready to lead.”

But Obama and McCain cast identical votes in the major congressional showdowns on the issue last year. Both men cast votes in favor of an unsuccessful early June effort to end a filibuster. Later that month, they voted again to end debate on the issue – but again failed to shut down the filibuster effort, led for the most part by Republican senators.

The ad will air in Colorado, New Mexico and Nevada, all crucial fall states with significant Hispanic voting populations.

Mccain/Palin will lie to the American people in order to get into the Whithouse. Palin's remarks about "Thanks but no thanks" has already been pulled from her stump speeches, because of untruth... which somehow in their and their followers minds seemingly negates her from ever having said it. The problem with their followers is, they are predisposed to believe whatever they say only because they pick and choose those things from their speeches out that represent their ideals. Unfortunately, many people say they are voting for (what should be Palin/Mccain) only because Palin is like them, they can relate to her. I'm sorry, being a "hockey mom" and housewife and mother of 5 with one special needs child are not good qualifications to run this country. They may be good qualifications if you are interested in running this country right into the ground, and that is indeed precisely what I fear from you warmongers.

I used to like John McCain, but in this campaign he's come to the point where I don't believe a word he says.

America will be in dire trouble if the mccain/palin ticket wins. Except for the rich (unless mccain starts WW111 which even the wealthy can't escape)

These ads of McCain and his brand of politics are what makes me sick and ashamed of American politics. I always thought that McCain was a better man than this. Obviuosly I was wrong. My vote goes to Obama.

Have we set the bar so low that garbage like this recent McCain ad can be allowed to be shown. I have never in all my life seen such a blatant distortion of the truth – not just this ad but most of the flagrant lies that the McCain/Palin alliance is propogating. Wake up America! The only chance we have for real change and advancement and improvement in the life of our country is with Barack Obama.

    Obama for America!!!!

In running the sleaziest campaign since South Carolina in 2000 and standing by completely debunked lies on national television, it's clear that John McCain would rather lose his integrity than lose an election.

    Obama has no position.

He just tells each crowd what they want to hear.

He wins by playing the popularity contest- he never takes a controversial position.

That is why Obama voted present on all the difficult issues- Obama did not want to risk taking a position one way or the other so that he did not risk being disliked by any group.

That is how Obama made it this far on no track record and no experience. He gives nice vague, inspiring speeches and hides his beliefs in the pretty rhetoric. Everyone is awed by his image and forgets to look for the meat of substance.

I hope such tactics of pandering for popularity does not get him into the white house.

smarter than the moron in the white house, smarter than his poodle mcgoofy who wants to succeed him and continue his same moronic war-loving policies, I am admittedly not the brightest turnip on the truck..but seems to me, with regards to illegal immigrants, if those employing them on large scale (e.g. the Postville, Ia Kosher plant), if those employers were to be fined..and I do mean SUBSTANTIALLY..for employing illegals..would make inroads to this problem, no? And, put them on notice that they will be henceforth and FOREVER, subject to 'random' checks, much like drug tests employers use...I'm kind of thinking here that, if they are serious about illegals, the fine should be in the order of...ohhh...'bout $20,000.00 per illegal caught..the first time..2nd offense, hell..just base it on their profit..take 30% of what ever it the america consumed by the greed of the moron's regime, and the continuation of it that McGoofy and Palen want...they have to understand that the only way companies employing i llegals will cease to do it is to hit them where their money is...of course, that is impossible to expect from an republican administration to even consider...hey..its a solution!

I have to say that the media is partly to blame for this. If I had a chance to question a politician, or surrogate, one on one I would never allow them to run around in circles they way they do. If the media held them to a high standard they would not be able to peddle lies to the public. Call if for what it is, so what if he refuses to come on your show ever again. As soon as McCain starting griping about media bias CNN along with other networks tucked tail and played nice. The next time those little twerps Tucker Bounds and Nancy Pfotenhauer come on your network let them know that the GOP, McCain in particular, are outright liars and don't let them dance around you. You owe it to your public.

One more lie from the McCain group on top of all the others. Wow, they really are just making stuff up. And these people think they can lead this country with all the problems we have?

    Stop lying McCain.

How could anyone...anyone...think that McCain/Pailn is what this country needs? If peolpe in this counrty are that dumb, then they get exactly what the deserve.

I could care less if somebody is black, white, democrat, republican, etc..

I vote the person, not the party, which is the way it should be. If you dont vote that way, shame on you.

If my daughter were to get raped and become pregnant, there is no way that some lipstick wearing hockey mom from Podunk, Alaska is going to tell me that she must have the baby. Are you serious??

That is one of my biggest concerns about this lady. We dont know much about her, other than her radical views, which have no place in the white house, regardless of what that fat, cheesburger eating Rush Limbaugh says.

If McCain repeatedly lies to the American people during the campaign, how can we expect him to behave if he were president?

How can a man & woman call them self a Christian and continue to tell lie after lie, they know it's a lie the American people know it's a lie, it's been proven to be a lie, yet they keep telling them.

I don't see any change other than the stealing of another mans ideas.

The only fresh idea keeps coming from the same camp while the other camp hides in the corner with a stolen play book
