McCain ad slams Obama, Senate Democrats on immigration

New McCain ad blames Obama and Democrats for death of immigration overhaul effort.
New McCain ad blames Obama and Democrats for death of immigration overhaul effort.

(CNN) –
John McCain’s campaign is running a Spanish language ad in battleground states that blames Barack Obama and Senate Democrats for the failure of attempts to overhaul the nation’s immigration laws - even though the Republican nominee and his Democratic counterpart cast identical votes in the key Senate showdowns on that issue last year

“Obama and his congressional allies say they are on the side of immigrants. But are they?” asks the announcer in the 30-second spot, “Which Side Are They On?”

“The press reports that their efforts were 'poison pills' that made immigration reform fail,” he continues. “The result: No guest worker program. No path to citizenship. No secure borders. No reform. Is that being on our side? Obama and his Congressional allies ready to block immigration reform, but not ready to lead.”

But Obama and McCain cast identical votes in the major congressional showdowns on the issue last year. Both men cast votes in favor of an unsuccessful early June effort to end a filibuster. Later that month, they voted again to end debate on the issue – but again failed to shut down the filibuster effort, led for the most part by Republican senators.

The ad will air in Colorado, New Mexico and Nevada, all crucial fall states with significant Hispanic voting populations.

It blows the mind why McCain is not in a straightjacket. The whole campaign is senile and has nothing to offer exept lies.If a citezen tried this they would be in jail but it is OK for Mcain to do it.Who wants a President that has nothing but lies and slander ? McCain and Palin should not have a forum to speak to unless they are hooked up to a lie detector. Why O why would anyone want this for their future ?

Did the GOP forget, "Thou shalt not lie?" Or is that just another inconvenient family/religious value to set aside at will?

I'm really thrilled by MCcain's type of politics. I'm actually an independent, who, two days ago considered voting for him; but after all these misleading ads, I really feel that MCcain is doing anything he can just to be elected. My vote might just go to Obama. Please help this country! This is not about personae, it is about the future of this country. I currently feel disgusted by MCcain's false ads.

How do you know when McCain and Palin are lying? Their lips are moving. They will say anything, do anything to get elected, and if they win they will do exactly what Bush and Cheney have done for the last eight years. More tax cuts for the rich, more war, more pollution (Palin thinks global warming is a myth), creationism taught in schools, and abortion outlawed even in cases of rape. No way, baby! Obama and Biden get my vote.

McCain continues to show his true nature! It is no suprise, a man who lied to Cindy about his age, lied about what atcually happened under captivity in Nam, one could even see from the new video after his release that he never needed clutches to walk, but of course to amplify his heroism he had to use clutches later. He lied on the streets of Bahgdad that it was free for political reasons that no escorts/security were need, when in actual fact he had over 100 security people protecting him and helicopters too. When he was cut he said he "misspoke", LIAR!
Now McCain has stolen Obama's "Change" theme to be his, it is called ID theft McCain, it is not enough that you included Palin in your ticket. Wash a pig, dress a pig and a pig will continue to be a pig and not a pet animal! Our eyes are watching you!

This is the typical lies and tactics that is used by the GOP to keep Obama on the defensive. They offer no real solutions to the problems of our nation. I hope Obama stay focused on what his plans are, and not continue to react to these tactics

And the lies just keep on coming, don't they? I really hope and pray that Mccain/Palin are not voted as our new leaders. Anyone that is thinking about voting for them, really needs to remember what the last 8 years have brought us under the republicans watch. Do you really want more of the same?

BUSH HAS LIED TO THE PEOPLE FOR 8 YEARS, BUT AT LEAST HE WAITED UNTIL HE GOT IN OFFICE. MCCAIN START OUT LYING TO THE PEOPLE OF THE USA BEFORE HE EVEN GETS IN OFFICE.

Does the McCain camp know how to make a truthful political ad? It seems like all they do is lie, lie, lie. I have no respect left for John McCain. Some of Obama's stretch things, but are not just out and out lies.

Obama and the Dems need to stop treating McCain as a war hero (bomber pilot) and start showing him for the person he really is. This man is really starting to make me sick.

If this is what this country has in mind for President and Vice-President : an old, nasty, lying fool and a dangerous dimwit, then we are heading for a global disaster. For the first time of my life in this country I am truly terrified for my family, and the future of my young children.

Once again this ad shows how McCain and his campaign are simply manipulating the truth.

Even more interestingly, after the GOP repeatedly accused the MSM of being biased, it seems that the media are just announcing, repeating and amplifying all the misleading ads and accusations coming from McCain, without providing any kind of debunking or actual fact-checking.

It's remarkable that up to now the only significant rebuttal of some of McCain's lies came on a program such as "The View" rather
than on all those shows that claim to provide viewers with "real, independent and factual information".

It's time the news media start providing real information, discussing and unveiling how McCain is manipulating and distorting facts.

We have had enough of a President who misinforms the country and alters the facts. And we have had enough of media organizations that claim to be objective, and then simply repeat and ampliy all such misinformation without providing any real/factual information and fact-checking.

McCain has figured dirty campaign (with a lot of help from the media works). The media no longer report facts that's why we are NOT hearing about America's sick economy; the war in Iraq, credit crunch; unemployment, ballooning deficits and debt – things that matter to ordinary Americans. Republicans know how to win elections – by playing dirty and getting the media to ignore their (Republican)obvious sins.

This advertisement leads to four possible conclusions:
    1. John McCain has no control over his campaign. If he did he wouldn't be running ads that criticize his own record.
    or
    2. John McCain doesn't think people care what his record is as long as they see how "bad" Obama is.
    or
    3. John McCain has no issues lying to the American people for his own political gain.
    or
    4. John McCain is so far down the road he has forgotten that he voted in exactly the same way as Barack Obama.

I'm going to choose #3 because this is only one in a series of untruths in McCain ads.

Is McCain serious? Immigration is ONE thing he should NOT bring up. The dude was against his own IMMIGRATION reform bill when it turned out it wasn't going to be popular in 2007.

MCCAIN is running like he knows that the polls don't mean much, it's the electoral college numbers and he's behind in those. He's trying to get anything to stick.

Obama pissed people off because he said that Americans should try to learn Spanish. I agree...because soon, by the time 2040 gets around here, there will be a majority of the minority.

I'm learning Spanish and Chinese. They won't catch me unprepared.

  24. White and Black support for Obama

Yeah Mccain was in favour of the immigration refurm until he changed his mind. For it before against it.

Until now they never said Obama have worked with Republican.
So, how was it coincident both senators voted the same ways?

Everyone wants Obama camp to be agressive on Mccain lies, Amerians believed in lies, or they trusth liars. But if Dem camp stayed ahead on these negativity they will prevail.
    God Bless you ....
