Cindy McCain: Tough interviewers 'picked our bones clean'

(CNN) –Cindy McCain, wife of Republican presidential nominee John McCain, criticized the media at a weekend fundraiser, telling supporters that the hosts of The View “picked our bones clean.”

"In spite of what you see …in the newspapers, and on shows like The View - I don't know if any of you saw The View yesterday, they picked our bones clean - in spite of what you see, that's not what the American people are saying and what they are believing," said McCain, in a recording obtained by ABC News. "They are now seeing a clear difference with these candidates, and they are seeing who is going to make the best president, and that's why we're pulling ahead."

John McCain had a tough exchange with the hosts of The View during a recent appearance, during which he was pressed on the credentials of running mate Sarah Palin, claims in his campaign ads that co-host Joy Behar called “lies,” and how many houses he and his wife own.

They're just playing the same old game. "Waah, waah, wahh, the media doesn't like us." Anything to distract voters from the issues and their ideas for tackling them should he be elected President.

The media is just trying to get at the truth. The McCain campaign is reacting just like the Bush administration. The strategy is clear: Deceive, Deny, Complain, Spread Fear, then repeat.

It's been clear from the start that they have no original ideas. The whole campaign is based upon pandering to voters. That's until they get into office and just like "W" has done, then, they'll just continue to abuse their power and ignore the American people.

If the plan of extending tax cuts for the wealthy is a such a great idea, then why are we still losing jobs? That's because the plan of trusting the wealthy to reinvest in American workers is flawed. Anyone who cannot see this has not been paying attention for the last 8 years.

If the media really wanted to pick their bones clean they would be asking more details about her previous drug addiction, how she justified a relationship with a married man, why they waited until after they saw that the Obama campaign for Change was successful before they latched onto it and claimed it as their own, why Sara Palin requires so much coaching before the media has access to her, and after his display of bad judgment as a member of the "Keating 5", why we should now trust him.

Put the Barbie doll back in the box. She sounds ridiculous! The republicans can not believe that the Democrats, Independents and yes some fellow republicans are finally calling them out on their lies and will no longer accept POW as a reason for every LIE this fool sputters.

How in the world can Palin handle dealing with nations that might not respect us when she can't deal with reporters?

What rubbish...they asked why ur husband was lying. This is a legitimate question and why is it that I hear more complaints from the republicans than I do from the democrats.

Seriously! First it was the race card, then sexism and I hear agism is about to come up soon. I mean is this a joke to republicans?!!

The women of The View were too tough for McCain???

ROFL. What will McCain and Palin do when they finally face actual...journalists (of which there seem to be precious few left–especially on television).

At least McCain didn't get rattled like Obama does when someone questions him. Obama acts like no one is supposed to disagree with him. The way McCain was treated on the View was ridiculous! I don't know why anyone would watch that idiotic show.

For those of you who do not Tivo The View to watch the Hot Topics like I do, both McCain AND Obama , along with several other presidential candidates were guests of The View before the conventions. Once the conventions occurred, and the nominations were accepted, why wouldn't the tone change as far as the media is concerned. I have read many people comment that the ladies were unfair, not treating both candidates the same. They ALL were given easy questions, getting to know you questions and what makes you different from the others questions. But, now that the field has narrowed considerably, they need to be held to a different standard. Let's hope that the Obama's ARE on together so that they can answer the same questions. (Let's hope that Elizabeth takes a sick day. Although her politics sicken me , I think the conversation would be interesting but she plays dirty, like the McCain campaign. What goes on behind the scenes should not be used the way she did. Very spiteful!)

Barbara Walters has been a highly respected and fair journalist for years. For McCain & homewrecker to complain about bias is fake outrage...again.

Sad when The View is asking the questions that the mainstream media is too afraid to ask. When will you put McCain in the hotseat CNN?
