Cindy McCain: Tough interviewers 'picked our bones clean'

Cindy McCain criticized media coverage of the campaign.
Cindy McCain criticized media coverage of the campaign.

(CNN) –Cindy McCain, wife of Republican presidential nominee John McCain, criticized the media at a weekend fundraiser, telling supporters that the hosts of The View “picked our bones clean.”

"In spite of what you see …in the newspapers, and on shows like The View - I don't know if any of you saw The View yesterday, they picked our bones clean - in spite of what you see, that's not what the American people are saying and what they are believing," said McCain, in a recording obtained by ABC News. "They are now seeing a clear difference with these candidates, and they are seeing who is going to make the best president, and that's why we're pulling ahead."

John McCain had a tough exchange with the hosts of The View during a recent appearance, during which he was pressed on the credentials of running mate Sarah Palin, claims in his campaign ads that co-host Joy Behar called “lies,” and how many houses he and his wife own.

I briefly considered voted for McCain – I was disenchanted with Obama did not select Hillary as the VP candidate – but when McCain conjured up Palin as the Republican VP pick, I quickly returned to my roots in the Democrat party – and I am now firmly in support of Obama and Biden.

Cindy, if you can't handle the heat – stay out of the kitchen... The American people want answers and all we get from the GOP are diversion and avoidance of the real issues...

Then tell your husband to stop LYING. That way, no one - not even that mean-old media - can "pick your bones clean." If you and your dear old husband want to live in the White House, honor us Americans by telling the truth first.

Seriously? You can't handle *The View*?

It's THE VIEW, people! It's staffed by washed up journalists waiting to be called up for a Michael Jackson tearjerker and people who think the Earth is flat. And you can't handle them?

Obama has been media's favorite. No doubt about that. The more smear or unfairness I see on McCain/Palin by the media, the more confidence I have about my decision to support McCain/Palin. The Demorats and media are scared that McCain/Palin pulled ahead.

    Go McCain/Palin!

How long do you plan on keeping up the lies, Cindy?? If you had run a clean campaign like you said you would do, this would not be happening. Do you expect honest people to just step aside as you lie and cheat your way into winning the Presidency? It is about time someone started calling you and your "maverick" husband out on his lies and deceit. Just wait, it has just begun.

ARE YOU BETTER OFF NOW THAN 8 YEARS AGO?

Well you have to hand it to Cindy, she is right.Americans are seeing a clear vision of who they would like to see as the leader of the free world. But it sure as heck ain't her husband and Palin.Americans backed up with irrefutable evidence are seeing that the McCain Palin ticket is all about lies.Americans are clearly seeing, when this ticket does not have a script they are amateurs at best. She is right that Americans have a clear vision that John McCain has clearly failed the American public with his speed dating tactics of picking a VP who is very likely to be President if they won. What McCain got on the View is nothing compared to the fraud and outright lies about the Obama Biden campaign. In May 2006 John McCain to David Ignatius of the Washington Post. Mc Cain says " The worst thing I can do is sell my soul to the devil". Not only did he sell his soul to the devil, with the Palin pick and fraudulent statements about her experience, he is trying to sell out America with lies and deceit and yes Cindy, America now has a clear picture of you husband. The picture is in his words and that is he would rather win an election at any cost to his country.

I saw it and even the "right wing nut" Elisabeth asked a harsh question. They are all obviously for Obama -except Elisabeth- at the end Barbra said something like "tell Sarah Palin how nice we are and how the questions are easy." I'm in the middle vote Democratic usually but the treatment he gets shows he'll stand up and be a good president if he does get in. He doesn't have my vote yet, but he has my dad's. My mom is for Obama and I live in a liberal state and town so everyone here seems to be for him, but McCain gets points for the interview in my opinion. No media show Obama would ever go on would do that to him.

Cindy McCain's transparent play for sympathy is as hollow as her husband's claim that he is putting "country first" in a campaign of the sort he once (in April 2000) had the grace and integrity to denounce as bringing shame on the nation. His campaign ads and speeches - and those of his running mate - continue to rely on discredited lies and distortions. If McCain once had a claim to honor and integrity, the last two years of power lust have put an end to that. Perhaps someday he will remember to be ashamed of his failure to honor our country with reasoned and respectful discourse.

Those ladies on the View are VOTERS! They have a stake in this election just as any other taxpaying person. They did what so many other American women wanted to do. The premise on McCain accepting to be on the show was to attract women. So there you go.

Fortunately, most women in America are intelligent enough NOT to listen to what those pea-brain women on The View have to say! Nothing more than a Kaffee Klatsch between botoxed, over made-up "girlies." Most of us are out earning a REAL living!

I AM SO SICK OF EVERYONE IN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY AND AFFILIATED WITH IT ACTING LIKE THEY ARE THE VICTIMS OF SOME SERIOUS INJUSTICE. IT IS THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, MEDIA, AND OPPOSING PARTY'S RIGHT...THEIR RIGHT...TO ASK QUESTIONS AND GET CLARIFICATION ON THE EXPERIENCE AND READINESS OF A CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT.
QUIT YOUR WHINING. THIS IS A SERIOUS JOB AND SHOULD BE TREATED AS SUCH. IF YOU THOUGHT IT WOULD BE EASY TO BE PRESIDENT THEN YOU ARE SADLY MISTAKEN. AND IF YOU ARE DUMB ENOUGH TO BELIEVE THAT YOU SHOULD BE THE LEADERS OF THE FREE WORLD JUST ON GP....WAKE UP...THAT IS NOT HOW IT WORKS. YOUR LIFE BECOMES AN OPEN BOOK. THAT INCLUDES THE WIVES, CHILDREN AND FAMILY. IF YOU ARE NOT READY TO HAVE YOUR LIFE BECOME PUBLIC, THEN YOU ARE IN THE WRONG RACE. WOW...IT LOOKS TO ME LIKE THEY CANT HANDLE THE PRESIDENCY. THEY ARE NOT READY. THEY BELIEVE SOMEHOW THAT THEY SHOULD BE TREATED DIFFERENTLY THAN EVERYBODY ELSE. WHO ARE THE ELITISTS NOW? THIS IS COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS. STOP MAKING THIS ELECTION ABOUT HOW YOU FEEL AND STEP UP TO THE PLATE WITH YOUR SKILLS...YOU THINK LEADERS OF OTHER COUNTRIES ARE GOING TO GIVE A FLIP ABOUT YOUR WHINING?

She's crying about a what her and her husband said on the view. Hey if you change your platform to reform you better have something you intend on reforming. He couldn't name one thing Palin was going to change other than "all of Washington." You don't go in front of a camera and lie then criticize everyone else. You got called on your BS. It's also puzzling why it takes a daytime talk show to challenge the McCain campaign. The press should be eating McCain alive right now. He's lost his credibility.

I hardly feel sorry for them when the public just wants answers to questions. Why shouldn't he have to answer questions about his VP's record and choices. We do want to know. If the shoe were on the other foot they certainly would be asking those questions. Stop complaining and talk straight.

How many houses someone owns has nothing to do with this election. I'm glad Mrs. McCain told them that on The View. What does matter is that Obama kicked off his Illinois State Senate race at the home of Bill Ayers, a terrorist. Why does Bill Ayers support Obama so strongly?

Finally somebody in the media stands up and asks you tough questions and you can't take it?

What If Iran or Russia starts asking tough questions? Are you going to run away from those too?

The ladies on the View asked the correct questions. Why should the McCains be so "Special" that they shouldn't be asked fair questions.McCain is lying and he feels like it's ok for Palin to lie also. Anything to get in the White House. We know he served his country and was a pow, that still doesn't make him eligible enough to be President. I respect ,which I am sure most Americans do a person who is truthful.I have NO respect for a Liar which McCain and Palin are.To Cindy :where would you be if "Daddy haven't left you all that money. Most of us haven't inherited a fortune or was born with a silver spoon up their butt.THE LADIES ON THE VIEW WERE WOMAN ENOUGH TO DO WHAT MOST MEDIA WILL NOT.Get over yourself Cindy and tell hubby to stop the lies!!!!
