Cindy McCain: Tough interviewers 'picked our bones clean'

Cindy McCain criticized media coverage of the campaign.
Cindy McCain criticized media coverage of the campaign.

(CNN) –Cindy McCain, wife of Republican presidential nominee John McCain, criticized the media at a weekend fundraiser, telling supporters that the hosts of The View “picked our bones clean.”

"In spite of what you see …in the newspapers, and on shows like The View - I don't know if any of you saw The View yesterday, they picked our bones clean - in spite of what you see, that's not what the American people are saying and what they are believing," said McCain, in a recording obtained by ABC News. "They are now seeing a clear difference with these candidates, and they are seeing who is going to make the best president, and that's why we're pulling ahead."

John McCain had a tough exchange with the hosts of The View during a recent appearance, during which he was pressed on the credentials of running mate Sarah Palin, claims in his campaign ads that co-host Joy Behar called “lies,” and how many houses he and his wife own.

I appreciated the way the hosts at the view show when after Mccain because the American people need to know where these candidates stand on issues that concern us and not the constant lies of the mccain campaign about sarah palin.I mean Americans wake up lets talk about the issues and i think the media should copy the example from the hosts of the view

  2. NO MCCAIN THANK YOU!

The reasons I am supporting Barack Obama:

The BUSH/MCCAIN REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP HAS FAILED:

Bin Ladin has not been captured

War in IRAQ that was fabricated lies by Bush/McCain

4300+ Soldiers killed in Iraq war

Real threat of McCain attacking Iran and Syria and Russia

    Fuel Prices through the roof

Largest OIL COMPANY PROFITS in history

Largest OIL COMPANY TAX GIVEAWAY in history

    Record Home Forclosures

    Record Unemployment

630,000 jobs lost since Republicans took control

Outsourcing of Jobs to foreign countries

    Food prices out of control

    Failing Education system

    50 Million People without Healthcare

ONLY Major Country in the world without UNIVERSAL HEATHCARE

Loss of Respect around the Globe

    Failing to recognize Global Warming

SO YOU NEED TO ASK YOURSELF: ARE YOU BETTER OFF NOW THAN YOU WERE 8 YEARS AGO?

    OBAMA/BIDEN '08

The crack hos on The View are insignificant, undersatisfied whiners. Like they're worth listening to...and like they have a basis of knowledge higher than the average idiot on the street. Go John & Sarah! Kick some butt.

Between McSleazy and Pa-Liar, the American Voters have every right to pick your bones clean!

That will be about the only clean thing about this Republican campaign!!!

Cindy and her husband are both jokes.

They like to dish out dirt but cant take it when they are questioned about it.

Be careful what you say because someone may question you on it.

Temper temper Cindy.....Seems you and John both are hot headed.

If anyone dare to challenge McCain/Palin they are either sexist or disrepectful. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck – it's a duck. Someone who continually lies is a liar!!

Cindy is right...I see a clear difference in the candidates. One of them can look the American people right in the eye and lie to them. The other one has integrity and is running a campaign based on the issues the American people care about .

I'm voting for the one with integrity.

    Obama/Biden 08!

We see a clear difference with these candidates, all right. McCain panicked over the polls and abandoned his moral values in favor of lies and cynical strategies. If he had our interests at heart, he would be focusing on policy. He would understand that Americans need more access to the opinions of the Republican vp candidate. The needs of the average voter don't seem to register with him.

Is this the "transparency" that he would bring to the White House? What a slap in the face of the democratic process.

You're pulling ahead because the American people enjoy being lied to.

Cindy Mccain of the beer inheritance? cindy mccain of the $313,100 outfit? of the 10 houses? of the $250,000 cleaning staff?

    are you kidding?

they treated the mccains with kid gloves. I watched it. and they really could have been A LOT tougher.

It is important the mccains get exposed for what they are to the american people BEFORE the election, not AFTER.

the fact is that there are only two people qualified to be on either ticket- Joe Biden and John McCain. my decision is too simple. Painting the Clintons as racists then asking for their help is shameful. Easy choice.

Sad day when the really tough interview is done by The View; even according to Cindy's and McCain's own opininon.

The ladies on the View just asked the questions that so many common people would want to ask if they were sitting there. What's so tough about that?

    September 14, 2008 06:19 pm at 6:19 pm |

Picked their bones clean? Please. It was "tough" by today's pitiful People Magazine standards. But imagine if we still had a PRESS that asked tough questions. These whiners like Cindy McCain would be in tears. And that might damage her 350K outfits.

I honestly think that the Mccains think that we are stupid. I don’t know how they are pulling ahead in the polls, and I have no clue to where these polls are conducted. One thing I know though, the month of August brought Obama $66m. this is my poll, the 66m

I hope interviewers as Obama about the 1 BILLION in earmarks he requested, and he's on the top of the ticket. Which ticket is more likely to ask for earmarks?

Americans aren't stupid. For every political mistruth the McCain campaign shells out, the Obama campaign dishes out three. It's simple, its true, and it makes Obama the hpocrite.

Cindy, precious, when the rethuglicans used their convention to attack Obama relentlessly all the while lying on him, where was your outrage then luvcups? You rethugs are disgusting and how you guys sleep at night is a source of continual astonishment to me. How any rethuglican can consider voting for the two pathological liars mccain/palin is another source of continuous amazement to me. And in reality the polls mean nothing, I never got excited when Obama was leading non stop before the convention, which is another point, how come johnny boy being so well know never once led in the polls against the new guy until now?

Poor rich lady...the truth hurts! John McCain is a huge disappointment to the American people and becoming a joke to the rest of the free world...and you are not helping him with your flash of cleavage and pearls.

He was once a war hero of honor and integrity; now he is a Bush wanna be!!! So sad.

Doesn't it seem like, a campaign and the media would be interested in the what next President'specific plans and policies and timeline of implementing things for the good of America ? Why all the stupid media activities and duncely questions like how many houses does someone have ? What difference does it make ?
