Only the democrat party can do it, since the Republicans aren't goin to do it without charging a fee.
the Republicans aren't giving any handouts, although Texas is a Republican state, they have way more of a chance of getting help from the democrats then waiting on McCain. The democrats stand for Democracy, for the people, especially in time on need such as these.
Lets see what lies this McBush gurantees his supporters of the state of Texas. He'll probably tell them to wait out the election before he provides them with help, and seeing that his supporters have supported him this far, more than likely they wouldn't mind suffering 4 more years in their current situation due to their ignorance.

Obama is taking your money and throwing it away. Consider giving money to a local charity, Church or real civic group that makes a
difference. Obama has never even had a job. You folks are like the
bozos in the Monty Python Movie SEARCH FOR THE HOLY GRAIL where
the dopes all take off one shoe and run after the guy with one shoe because they think that is the sign.
Obama is the guy with the one shoe!

I am a proud female hispanic Obama supporter from Dallas, Tx. and a first time voter! It is amazing how much money both of these candidates are able to raise BUT i do wish they would both put it to better use. We do not need any more expensive b...s... commercials!!! We all know which comments are lies, overstated, rhetoric or just simply pandering . Just imagine how much good their campaign donations could actually provide...how many college loans or just interest alone...how many homeless familuies could be fed and clothed...how many public school districts...etc. etc.?!!! (YES, I am in one of the worse public school districts, DISD, which is a huge embarrasement of the worst public school officials being complete idiots and wasting taxpayers money! I could rant & rave about Hinijosa and his inept cohorts but I won't waste your time).

I feel community service should be implented in all schools (public & private). My son went to Jesuit in Dallas and they were REQUIRED to participate in community service hours all 4 yr. of high school as graduations requirements. They were required to complete a minimum of 100 hrs just for their senior year which they fullfilled every Wed. during school! Not to mention the minimum 35hrs per hrs. per freshman, sophmore and junior years. I am so proud of them for instilling a strong sense of community service because this is everlasting and has encouraged the importance of helping others!

Obama is right about the impact we all can have by volunteering in someway in our communities. All high schools students in the United States should participate in community service as graduation requirements. Community service also looks good on their resumes for college and they would be able to apply for many scholarships based on a strong community service background..

Again, both the Democrats and Republicans campaigns need to STOP WASTING OUR MONEY ON THESE JUVENILLE ATTACK COMMERCIALS! We all the know truth about both candidates. All we need to do is research the candidates ourselves and not count on these wasteful commercials or biased reports from cable news such as CNN, MSNBC, Fox and ABC! America, wake up and make up your on minds without the cable news pounding worthless negative comments and both campaigns airing political bull over and over...we are not that stupid or gullible!

WML - you may be a registered Democrat, but you clearly don't understand what's going on with Obama's financing. The limit any one person can give is $2300. 500 of McCain's rich friends give him $2300 each, and he has $1,150,000. 11,500 people give Obama $100 and he has $1,150,000. The whole point about Obama's financing is that 2.5 million people now have a stake in his campaign. I am one of those people. Those of us who believe in him want to give what we can to support his campaign. You say all that money could have been used to fix the country. Everyone has the option to donate to whatever cause they want to. We think we are making an investment in fixing the country by electing someone with vision, understanding and judgment to run it.

The more I read about Obama's "change" the more I see that he is out of touch. His proposals for change are for programs that have been in place already for years, i.e. on education specifically.
Change, yea right just liberal politicals as usual.

They're far too stupid to realise that Bush has time and time again proven totally unfit to be president, let alone manage a McDonalds. How can anyone possibly take these non thinking necon drones seriously?

WOW! That is magnificent!

Don't get discouraged, folks. This thing is still very much our game. We will win, especially after the debates reveal McCain's beliefs for what they are....

Good and bad news from Texas... FEMA, the heads of which were appointed by the Bush regime, are screwing up again. They supposedly staged millions of gallons of water and millions of MRE meals here in Texas in preparation for the storm. 24 hours later, it's still not being handed out. Hello? I can drive from here to Florida in less than 24 hours, so why can't they get the stuff moved from one place to another, inside the state?

This is another example of how dangerous it is to appoint unqualified "political friends" to key offices in the governemnt... something the Republicans seem hell-bent to do with Sarah Palin. This is just a hurricane; imagine the damage she could do if we had to go to war with Russia or Iran.

I was a new independent donor to Obama too!!

The Palin pick is what did it for me. Initially I was on the fence because I am sort of slightly right of center on some of my views and it appeared initially that both candidates brought something a little different to the table.

The McCain of 2000 has all but disappeared and his pick of Palin whose record on the environment, her extreme view with regards to t a woman's right to choose, the lies and exaggerations lead me to believe that the team cannot be trusted. The wolves legs, as stupid as it sounds is too much for me to handle as an animal lover.

McCain continuous flip flops and the re-emergence of Karl Rove makes me see that he is only interested in the slash and burn tactics of politics and not this country.

I am firmly now in the Obama/Biden camp.

It may sound corny, but he appeals to my better angels and inspires Americans to remember what we are capable of. One thing that i am sure of is that he cares about this country.

What a fraud as a change merchant Obama is. One of the most important changes made after Nixon and Watergate was public financing of presidential campaigns. And Obama at one time said he was going to use this law--while he was gaining the nomination as a change agent.
Now we know he is a liar or has no backbone in keeping his promises. And a thorough analysis of Obama's donations showed that a majority of his funds were still coming from the typical big donors. So does any fool believe Obama will give more weight to the 10 dollar donor than the fat cat (Like Renzo). Maybe Renzo will arrange to get Obama a summer home to vacation in if Obama wins trhe White House.
You can say all you want about McCain, but he kept his word on public financing of his campaign and Obama didn't.

I am about to make my 4th contribution to the Obama-Biden ticket, though financially it's a stretch, because, as an avid news reader for many years, I am terrified of what clearly will be a continuation of Bush policies under McCain-Palin.

I don't want a warrior in the White House -- happy or otherwise. Like 67% of Americans, according to the Gallup Poll, I want a President unafraid to meet and talk personally with world leaders, including heads of states viewed as foes of the U.S.

I want a President who will vigorously pursue diplomatic channels to solve international conflicts, and simultaneously re-build and expand our alliances throughout the world, again like the vasr majority of voters. No more “go it alone” strategies. This is a HUGE issue for me and thousands of others as we watch our economy being drained by a War of Choice and our country becoming more isolated from our global family.

I hope our campaign donations will be used to hit the airwaves hard with a series of well-produced positive ads that honestly present Obama-Biden's positions on international relations, tax cuts, Medicare & Social Security, housing and education. The real issues are on our side -- talk about them and forget about the nitpicky stuff.

I really hope that people look PAST the insults and realize that McCain is not saying anything else. If he had his town hall meetings, as he wanted, the tone would be much different, according to him. But since he rejected Obama's counter offer to a mix of both townhall meetings and debates, he feels that it is just fine to distort the truth and pander to people's fears. The American People are a smart group and are not easily fooled. Wait until November, and you will see that.

That $66 million number is actually alot lower than it should be. We need to do better.

Nothing less than the future of our country is at stake. If you dont think you can afford to give $100, then ask yourself how much it will cost you to have McCain in office. He's going to cut corporate taxes by $300 million a year, keep the taxes on the wealthy at Bush's tax rates and spend $100 million a year keeping us in Iraq, plus he will probably start the next Cold War with Russia, just to prove how "tough" he is.

And you will get to pay for McCain's vanity.

Right now, every household owes $150,000 as their portion of the national debt. With McCain this will likely double over the next 8 years to $300,000. Are you prepared to pay back your portion of that debt?

We need to be giving $100-1,000 per donor. $25 is nice, but come-on, that is one new pair of shoes.

Vote smart this November. Vote good judgment. If you say that our economy is good now, you are an elitist and you do not know our struggle to put food on our bellies and gas in our cars. John McCain that elitist think the economy is good and has no plan to help us. He wants more wars, more tax cut for big corporate that ship our jobs oversees. Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania I know that your economies are hurting and you must vote smart and vote someone who understands your economics’ struggles. It is not time to support someone just for race or gender, it is time to take our country back and get our respect back around the world. Vote Democratic this November if you are a true American who put America first. We need change in Washington and the Democratic Party has that change for us this November.

Sarah McCarthy

I'm not a democratic. I voted for Bush 41, considered voting for Bush 43 first go round, and did vote for McCain in 2000. I'm now solidly behind Obama/Biden after studying it from all angles. I looked at what I agreed with, what I could live with, and the character of each and will not apologize for concluding that Obama trumps McCain for me. I've looked back, and I've looked forward, and anyway I cut the chances of getting it wrong, there's more chits in the "chances are in favor of Obama getting it right" column.

I live in Ohio, and I work in the most conservative of districts, and even if some won't dare whisper it let alone shout it, there are more card carrying Republicans on the "Democratic Down Low" than they'll ever admit in polite company.

Forget the MSM talk about public proclamations made by voters who swear race doesn't factor in but we know it will once it's time to vote. Just as they say that's the voter Obama has to worry about, McCain had better not take for granted us here because we're the real undercover voter, the Indies who lean more to the right, and the normally reliable straight ticket Repub's who plain on the great cross over once nobodys looking.

The real question if I refuse public financing is where is 66MM coming from and who do I owe favors?

I am not a great proponent of government control but it should all be public money and 527's outlawed.

Bet it is not all $10 money. That would be nearly 7 million contributors. BIG MONEY contributors for the DEMS as well.

This goes to show you that there are a whole lot of "blind" supporters that have made the big mistake of following the "Pied Piper"

Obama went back on his word to take public financing if McCain did and it just goes to show you that Obama will say and do whatever to win the Presidency!

I don't like a liar and a person that has no experience or for that matter any track record to show that he is qualified to be our next President.

I am a Hillary Clinton supporter that is voting for McCain/Palin and it is Obama's own fault. He lied his way to get the nominee and then chose Biden over Hillary Clinton for his VP. REALLY DUMB OF HIM!

Sarah McCarthy : The fanaticals are not Obama and Biden, they are McCain and Palin who will do anything at all cost to win an election. Even if that involves lies and deception.
Palin is a pathological liar and a dangerous one. An extremist who will happily send us all to war. Under a McCain presidency, your hero will be a figurehead, a puppet in the hands of extremists.
I, for one, will not let my country go down the tube like this. Yes, there are millions in this country who will defend it against inept, and ignorant morons. Get used to it !

Yep, sure does look like the Obama campaign is sputtering and losing support. 66 million!! Wow!! It's amazing how his star has faded...lol.

@ McCain/Palin supporters, know this, we do not fear McCain or Palin...we respect them, as we respect all Americans, but we are committed to giving this country back to the people - ALL people. Compare and contrast the representation at the DNC vs. the RNC as a reference point to that last comment.

While CNN and the rest of the media blow hards are making it about lipstick and gender and crap that we don't care about, true Obama supporters are knocking on doors, making phone calls, and registering votors and getting his message heard. These actions may not show up in the daily polls, but trust me, they will (we will) show up on November 4th!!

Obama is the man, smart, decent, honorable, knowledgeable. McCain is just the opposite. Palin is nothing, but a lipstick. If any man wants to vote for her, you could pretty much know that man's character.

The dishonest and sleezy McCain campaign has turned this election into a soap opera. Palin is a big fat phoney. McCain's age, as a high risk candidate, should be a top issue at this point because it's likely that some uninformed Americans may be voting for someone who may die.

Where's Bill?

Where's Hillary?

Where's Joe?

The window to win this thing is closing, Obama better start throwing all he has into advertisements Negative yes, but accurate, and now.

Actuary tabels gives McCain a 1-in-4 chance of dying within 4 years. If Palin ends up President, we'll have a theocratic police state attempt for sure.
