From

FLAT ROCK, Michigan (CNN) – Barack Obama and Joe Biden have been saving their fire on the stump for McCain and all but ignoring Sarah Palin. But a nervous supporter who introduced Biden in Flat Rock didn’t have any qualms about jabbing the Alaska governor.

“Barack Obama has made an intelligent choice for the vice presidency,” said Barbara Theaker from the podium, “How so very different this is from that bucket of fluff that the Republican candidates have chosen for the same position.”

Watch the introduction at Monday's Biden rally

Biden smiled and moved towards the edge of the stage feigning an attempt at escape but came back, taking the mic a few minutes later. “I’ll tell you what, you are good,” Biden said. “My lord, all I need is ten of you in America and this is a walk home.”

How is it that someone who posts lke a serial killer calling oBama a GHETTO THUG, gets his statements posted over and over and I cannot get one intelligent informed comment in? Please explain to me CNN why I'm always under moderation?

John M   September 16th, 2008 1:06 am ET

A bucket of fluff is quite quaint and just makes me feel fuzzy all over. I fear there are some rotten apples in the bottom of the bucket though and Joe Biden probably sees even a bit more. Biden is doing a great job of keeping his stark honesty in check. When will the media get over the fluff and get back to the old saying, "It's about the economy stupid". I think today, showed that.

Joe Biden says on the War and Surge:

"John McCain was wrong and Barack Obama was right."

Now most fair-minded people would agree that the War was wrong, and, that likewise the Surge was right.

I guess Obama’s being against the War and against the Surge would mean Obama was right before he was wrong!

And since McCain was for the War and for the Surge, McCain was wrong before he was right!

Now Biden voted for the War and against the Surge – I guess that makes, the so called strong on foreign policy senator, just plain wrong……100% wrong!

Raymond Duke   September 16th, 2008 1:03 am ET

Teressa the veteran. I am a veteran too and I do not see how you could vote for a man like Obama who claimed he thought about volunteering for the military after he had signed the selective serice . It did not exist at the time he claims. He has also not supported the funding for our soldiers and wants to negioate with all the terriost countrys. I do not know about you except you cannot be combat arms. I spent twenty years in the infantry and I live in the real world not fantasy land. If I had to guess i would say you are black and you are voting for color. Thats alright that is your choice.

Keep up the B.S. . Palin has bigger Gonads than the Black Messiah and Sissy Joe Biden together. Maybe you liberals who feel so sorry for the poor ought to ask Joe why he supported a bill for the finanice Bankers and credit card companys that made it harder for a working american to file Bankruptcy and keep their home. Could it be because his SON was a lobbyist for that organization and Bidden is getting a kickback from his son?

Kate Fergus   September 16th, 2008 12:54 am ET

I can't believe that anyone with any intelligence would vote for McCain/Palin. Only people with an IQ below 50 points would consider it. Voters have to start using their heads. Billions were lost today. The deficit, oil prices, unemployment, and housing losses have skyrocketed; a bogus war and thousands dead or maimed!! Wake up people!!!!!

there was nothing too this except when obama and his 39 lawyers and investigators went up to alaska to find any bit of dirt they could of Palin. This is all just about an obnoxious ex-brother-in law who should of been off the force for tasering his son , for driving drunk been married how many times and is a bully. he threatened palins family and she stood up for her family. alaskans agreed there was nothing too this till the democratics interrferred and now they are going after her unjustly. Wow , people can not stand a woman who wants to get rid of corruption. Obama won't ever he has remained silent when his own party members like rangel are up on charges , nancy pelosi says he wont have to step down. I guess it takes someone like palin to clean up politics. and i hope the ones that are playing dirty in alaska are found out and made to pay for trying to ruin palin.

Michael   September 16th, 2008 12:53 am ET

ohh yes and Biden who has been in the Senate since before i was alive goes along in the change from washington. What i'm still laughing about is Obama saying how he is more ready to be president that Palin. A politican who says he is going to change Washington but plays towards special interests is not going to change anything. Special interests/Unions have lobbiests in washington so Obama is just skipping the middle man and going straight to the source.

ginger   September 16th, 2008 12:51 am ET

Before this Presidential race I never cared about who won. I was a registered independent but voted for Bill Cliton, then became a Democrate during his second election. I would NEVER vote Republican because I don't believe in their core policies.

During this race I have seen (message boards) the worst America has to offer. A lot of the voters really don't care about the issues. It seems that many of us vote on race, age, and gender. Blacks voting for Obama just because he's Black, but can anyone blame us? We have supported white candidates since earning the right to vote. For the first time we have a qualified candidate who many of us feel proud to vote for. Most Blacks have a deep sense of pride in voting as I am sure most women do. Many of our ancestors were hung, castrated, burned, beaten, and jailed so they could vote. This is why I vote because men and women died so that I could. And I don't take my vote with a grain of salt.

Obama is so much more than an African and White American. He's ready and more than capable of leading this country in the right direction. Had it not been for Iowa I doubt I would have voted for him. I would have voted for Hillary. But Iowa should me as it did many Blacks that America is ready for a change.

Join with me and Vote Sen. Obama for President of the USA.

A bucket of Fluff usually blows with the wind. That's what I'm seeing with Joe and Barak. They both mouth a ton of words and say next to nothing. Obama is the least understood of the bunch. His tagline should be HOPE – TRUST ME.

We see where that got us with Slick Willey and the peanut farmer. Slick Willy couldn't keep his one eyed trouser snake under control and the peanut farmer destroyed the economy. DESTROYED.
OBAMA, Vote for him and lose your job, and savings. Smart. Really Smart.

I hope one of the Democratic "listeners" will actually read this.

ENOUGH is ENOUGH.

Another four more years is just NOT acceptable.

But secondly, there are so many Republican lies running around that enough is enough.

Democrats need to take the high road and not get into the fray which is exactly what Republicans want.

Democrats need to keep the on the message....talk about policies and keep saying enough is enough. Americans are smart enough to understand this.

Americans want to make this about lipstick, etc. Don't let them do that, keep the message, enough is enough.

Barack had it right and started turning the tide when he said it a week ago, DON'T STOP

Mike, Vancouver   September 16th, 2008 12:30 am ET

Now for the real comment. It is interesting that it takes a person introducing the Senator to come up with the real good lines and accurately describes Sarah Palin. A "Bucket of Fluff", how good because when fluff gets old it is just dusted away.

I am of the impression that she is there to do a job and it will not be long lasting. Once done, she will be discarded.

Go McCain, by the way Patreus signed out of Iraq today well before the hundred years of occupation (I believe that has been Obama's platform for the past 18 months).

Dante in Madison, WI   September 16th, 2008 12:27 am ET

Good for Flat Rock. The working people of Michigan need to stand up for themselves and get those rotten RepubliCONs out of office.

What have the Repugs done for the working people of this country in the past 8 years? Sent more jobs overseas? Bankrupted our huge financial surplus and put us TRILLIONS more into debt (over $255 BILLION owed to the Chinese Government alone), screwed up our economy by falling asleep at the wheel while corrupt bankers and lax oversight committees allowed predatory lending.

Yeah, them Republicons sure know how to run this country real good. Yee hah.

Michigan–your economy is in the crapper. You're even worse now than when I left my home there 4 years ago.

Republicans are going to make corporations richer–not the working people. Time to put an end to the insanity.

Shannon, you're being a twit. It's a specific woman, not women. in general. You know good and well this Palin is a joke and is nothing but a sad Republican gimmick.

Look at the platforms and that will tell you who takes women seriously.
Look at the number of women that have EARNED high positions in which party.
Look who puts real efforts into women's and family issues.

If you're not a paid blogger for Hoover Dubya McShame then it's time for some quiet time with yourself, some details on the issues, prayer, and some real perspective on the future of our country.

Dot   September 16th, 2008 12:22 am ET

Not just about Palin, I would also like it above all if all the women out there that think any question or negiative comment about the VP selection is sexist! I want the answers & you all keep blowing smoke & getting offended for no reason. We do need this information to make a choice.

Sarah Palin is more than just a bucket of fluff. Mrs. "Bullwinkle" is a flip-flopping lier. "Troopergate" Sarah claims that she wants open transperancy about the Troopergate incident. Now she is hiding behind McCain's you know what refusing to meet with investigators and thinks that she can ignore subpoena's. Who does this sound like, How about Karl Rove. Of coarse Barack Obama picked the right running mate. Now let's get both of you elected.

OBAMA the REAL Change   September 16th, 2008 12:20 am ET

Janice Il September 15th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

Janice I would agree. But we don't want ANY woman (this woman) in or near the White House, especially one that is running from the media, the voters and the investigators in Alaska that states she is guilty of abuse of power toward her bother in law. If she will abuse her authority in Alaska, just think what she will do with her power as a VP, we have enough of those in the White House already (don't matter woman or man they are still crooks)? I would love to see a woman in a powerful position in the White House also, but not one out of no that hasn't prove anything but only she can lie and do what she is told. We need a woman in the White House that will not put woman against woman, we need a woman who will CARE about ALL women's and BRING us together.

Face it, these are troubled times that call for someone with Obama's calm, deep intellectual skills.

Because Ms. Palin is cute & lives in Alaska, its ok to portray a VP candidate on a national newsmagazine smiling with a gun over her shoulder. And amazingly, the votes are rolling in for the McCain ticket. Everyone worried so much that Hillary Clinton was too "forceful" when she laid out the issues; this helped to hobble her campaign. Are the American people so stupid that their vote can be had for the novelty of seeing a cute woman carrying a gun? Are we only interested in the image and not the issues?

Peter (CA)   September 15th, 2008 11:58 pm ET

Shannon–

Please pay attention. The Palin nomination is a joke meant to pander to Hillary supporters. Please don't tell me this is sign that the Republicans are concerned about the rights of women.

The Democrats put a woman on the ticket 24 years ago. This year, a woman came very close to being nominated for President.

If Palin wants to come out and be part of the ticket, then she is going to have to expect that there will be punches. Remember, she is the one who came out with the ugly speech during the convention. She is the one refusing interviews, she is the one who lies about the bridge and going to Iraq, she is the one who says she is the second coming of Hillary but disrespected Hillary last spring as some kind of whiner.

Peggy   September 15th, 2008 11:57 pm ET

I am not an American, I don't live in the USA either. I am amazed to see how Americans have come to hate one another. I would tell Anericans to find something positive to do, get involved in global problems like poverty, diseases. Do what Matt Damon just did; he put on rubber boots and he went to Haiti to feed the victims of hurricanes Gustav, Hanna and Ike. That might help you appreciate your luck, your life.

Kenda   September 15th, 2008 11:57 pm ET

Why won't Gov. Palin cooperate with investigators? There is something fishy here....maybe the "Barracuda" is hiding something. It's starting to stink in Alaska!

Sue in MI   September 15th, 2008 11:56 pm ET

Palin should be ashamed of herself. Promoting her transparent government management style while she refuses to be interviewed, refuses to cooperate in an investigation she says is baseless (if it were, wouldn't she cooperate and be done with it?) and has more to hide than Bush, it seems. I'm a Hillary Democrat who hopes to never see Palin anywhere near the White House with her guns and snowmobiles and tanning beds and constant lies about the wonderful accomplishments she had in Alaska-how much in earmarks?

Stan   September 15th, 2008 11:53 pm ET

That part of America that votes for McCain and Palin DESERVES McCain and Palin. Sarah, has a complete disregard for the truth and her stance about open government is squashed by her failure to explain what she had to do with influence peddling in Alaska,

I truly fear that if this woman is elected, it will be a very long time before another one will be. The mantra will be, "what a mistake that was! Better never do that again"! It can't be just any woman, it has to be the RIGHT woman, and Palin most certainly isn't it!

I forsee the next talking point tomorrow: sexism!

Oh and it doesnt matter that the comment was by a woman. Carly Fiorina called Tina Fey's impersonation on SNL sexist of all things. Now thats pandering. To her credit apparently Palin saw the skit and thought it was funny.

Also, while perhaps an argument can be made about 'fluff' wording, the meaning was clear and fair. But the McCain campaign shouldnt make too big of a deal about it because it could have been worse. The first thing that came to mind was that at least she wasnt called a bucket of something else thats not nearly as pleasant.

McCryptKeeper/Cruella 08   September 15th, 2008 11:45 pm ET

The differences between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin are enormous. He is highly credentialed, a distinguished senator and college professor, an authority on foreign affairs, known and well-liked by foreign heads of state and ready to step into the presidency, if needed.
Sarah Palin, on the other hand, was mayor of a town smaller than the burg in which I grew up, governor of one of least-populated states. Took her 6 years and 5 colleges to earn a degree in Journalism with no additional education. Little, if any, knowledge of foreign policy. Oh, wait, she can see Russia from her house, I almost forget. The idea that Sarah Palin would have to stop into the presidency should the 72 year old cancer survivor, John McCane, die in office, is too awful to even consider.

Senior Southern Lady – Independent voter

Go BIDEN!!!   September 15th, 2008 11:35 pm ET

What a difference in the way Obama picked Senator Biden compared to the way Karl Rove picked McPain (AKA McPain, Ms Pain, Pailn). Senator Obama picked Senator Biden with deep forethought, analytical precision, and superior political acumen and integrity. Pailin was picked before McCain realized it by the Nazi right. She should examine her own beliefs before saying another word or before reading another right-wing hatched speech. Where does it say in the Bible to ignore the poor, hurt the poor, destroy the earth, destroy the weak and helpless, wipe out God's creation through irreversible destructive anti-environmental laws and practices, hunt to extinction with overwhelming force – defenseless endangered animals, all for the purpose to enrich the rich, who couldn't give a crap about the Constitution, your dying grandmother and a wounded soldier who will never have 100% of his mind and body again. Hey McCain and Palin, the next time a soldier dies by an IED, make sure you toast him and his family while Cindy McCain wears her $300,000 dress just to impress your "base." God will really bless you for that, don't you agree?

JD, FL   September 15th, 2008 11:35 pm ET

If we elect MCCain/Palin, the same people that are avoiding Bush/Cheney right now will distance themeselve to them after 4 or 8 years. I would like to know if MCCain is running as a republican or as an independent. If MCCain needs to make change to his party that is putting the country in that mess, he doesn't have to go Washington to do it.

Its sad to see Palin not getting any negative flap for being a celebrity, I guess its because she is a white woman! Its also sad to see a socalled religious person make up stuff on another person, knowing because she and Mccain is white, that white people tend to believe each other's facts even if they haven't been checked out. Especially, if its on an African American or other minority. All we have to do is look at how many minorities have been falsely accused and got exonerated by DNA or prejudged just because of black stereotype. They can make up stuff and say anything and not back it up factually, because they know they are speaking to majority white population, who will believe them over Barack Obama anyday! I also am sick of hearing about Barack Obama’s not admitting the surge is working or has worked! The fact is John McCain voted for the Iraq War which has cost Americans a trillion dollars. Does John McCain take credit for the trillion dollars in debt, or our failing economy, caving infrastructure, diminished reputation around the world and the American dollar’s down turn? Well, I think Barack Obama saying the surge has worked is a good thing , and I also think John McCain’s persistence in claiming credit for the his and his party’s hoping for deliverance from the deep trench the Iraq war and their worst politically charged judgment decision of the century is obviously an act of desperation! Then during the republican convention they laugh at Barack Obama’s humble beginnings as a community organizer, which I think was another tragic mistake in judgment. When they laugh, they were laughing at Martin Luther King Jr. (whose holiday McCain voted against), C. Chavez, Nelson Mandela, Ghandi, Fredrick Douglas, Eleanor Roosevelt and many more Americans who weren’t elitest or looked down on the poor!

The two candidates who don't belong in this race are Obama and Palin. Both are far too inexperienced for the offices they seek.

The McCain camps response tomorrow

Sexist, sexist, sexist. The reason she won't be cooperating with the trooper investigation......they are being sexist of course. Questioning their honor and integrity...sexist. Wanting to know why she for the bridge to nowhere before she was against it...sexist.

I'm so sick of hearing that. Try working in the real world and she'd know what sexism really is.

Better to be a "bucket of fluff", then a "bucket of lies and corruption"!
Get over yourself DEMOCRATS and quit attacking Palin. Got a problem with females – we know what you did with Hillary!!!

GO JOE! You are clearly what we need and respect in a VP candidate.

Tell Sarah and her campaign folks to go back to Alaska where she belongs.
You are all about running a country...not a personal vendetta from a position of power..........play to your strengths,(which are many) and point out her weaknesses (which are many).

We love you and believe in you as a great diplomat, senator and civil servant. YAYAYAYAY Biden!

The McCain campaign set themselves up for this with the big dust-up over the lipstick on a pig comment and by keeping Palin from taking questions from the press and the public the way a real VP candidate would do. This whole Palin selection is rapidly becoming a laughingstock, even better than Danny Quayle.

She "is" a bucket of fluff and you all know it, so stop trying to pull the whole gender card thing because in this climate with the truth that supports the notion of her incompetence, it'll only put women back 100 years to continuosly refute these chargers. Always justifying her readiness in the face of her sheer incompetence is a cute tactic, but come on...

Don't know if it will help you though, the radioactive fallout from the war Palin will start with the Russians over some miserable little place in the Balkans called Georgia will rain all over my country too! She probably wants to defend the place because she remembers watching the Olympics from Atlanta!

JaniceII was right! The election should be about issues that are good for the people of America . When a woman called another woman a "bucket full of fluff", she was pointing her finger at herself. It was a sad moment then, for the women in America. This is the 21st century, woman should be equal to man and have every right to do good for the country she lives in. England, did well, M. governed the country for a while, the "bucket full of fluff" did well in England. America is still pity backward when comes to gender culture!
Shame on her!

CNN likes to publish these headlines because they are biased. They are in the tank with MSNBC. Larry King, Wolf Blitzer Martin, cannot get jobs anywhere else. They can stay at CNN while CNN loses it's viewership. CNN is a real mouthpiece of Obama and Biden. Come November, CNN will learn the lesson when John McCain will win with landslide. I wonder what CNN will do by then.

McCain was really sligh picking Palin! I was a Hillary follower but now an Obama person as McCain is more of the same old horrible policies. I think Sarah Palin is a disgrace to the all females of America. She has not earned her place as Hillary Clinton has.
Obama is the future & McCain is the final nail on the casket of America in my opinion. I hope America does not get caught up in the
Palin Fluff and vote for Obama to save us all! God Bless America and
hopefully the average American and young America will get out & vote.
McCain is too old to have a objective view & too stuck in the old ways.

upset over Al Gore getting the election stolen!

As a US Army veteran and of course a woman. I am appalled how every comment made to respond to Palin is in the news. If she wants to play in the big league, and she can give out the rhetoric, then she must be able to take the flak.. Shame on you media that you have made this race about Palin...She is not running for president...Where is McCain....All i hear is how she has energized the party...Take a hint, the condition of this nation, The Republican party should have already been energized. To make a difference in this sad state of our nation, McCain should have already been energized...Give the republicans and the media this message from the people...The cause is bigger than Palin...So next time McCain and Palin speak, think about the cause and how you plan to change the nation.

You going to censor like sinderbrand does Marq whatever your name is?

Wow, what an intelligent comment, " bucket of fluff " , this is an election not a school yard fight. Pathetic, sad and typical of American politics.

Steve A. , New Braunfels , Texas   September 15th, 2008 9:29 pm ET

This is the vice presidency of the United States of America we are voting on, not the next contestant on Jerry Springer," Just say no " to Palin/mccain.

Repub   September 15th, 2008 9:29 pm ET

Sarah was for the "bridge to nowhere" before she was against it (only when funds were stripped from the project) – hardly the "I told Congress if we needed a bridge in Alaska we'd build it ourselves" reformer moment she has made it out to be...AND her aerial wolf and grizzly bear hunting "management" programs are in a word, brutal. No thanks.

It’s true I don’t see anything that McCain saw in her beside getting Hillary Clintons supporters, this election is deeper than Pelin we need someone who can deliver and that’s why am on Obama’s side a guy who promised that “my VP wont be just someone to send to funerals but someone who will be ready to fold his sleeves and go to work and I saw exactly that

Edward   September 15th, 2008 9:09 pm ET

Actually, she is well-tanned "fluff" since she let go of the chef and instead had a private tanning bed installed in Alaska's governor's mansion!

Erin   September 15th, 2008 9:08 pm ET

How ignorant of Barbara Theaker or anyone else from MI to be supporting a Democrat given that their state economy, lead by a Democratic governor from Canada (Jennifer – the original "bucket of fluff") TANKED years ago!

Sacto Joe   September 15th, 2008 9:08 pm ET

A bucket of fluff with lipstick, she meant....

Senator McCain hasn't got a CLUE about the economy! He thinks everything's just fine!

And his right wing book-banning VP is utterly at sea on this and almost any other issue.

Why would anyone even CONSIDER electing these two to the White House???

Interesting....   September 15th, 2008 9:04 pm ET

John 64 years old Independent   September 15th, 2008 9:00 pm ET

Bucket of Fluff? – I think that's being entirely too kind, she is a sack of lies! This ambitious little lady has made it a habit of just repeating her lies hoping that someone out there will believe her, just a few percentage. Why, because her and her running mate don't have a real message, they love things the way they are now. The George Bush agenda is what Sarah and John have for a platform and the American people have rejected this policy so, off they go telling their merry lies!

Lorna, NY   September 15th, 2008 8:59 pm ET
