Biden's typical commute anything but typical

Biden’s typical commute was anything but typical Tuesday.
Biden’s typical commute was anything but typical Tuesday.

WILMINGTON, Delaware (CNN) – Joe Biden returned to his regular commute Tuesday afternoon, surrounded by reminders he was no longer a regular commuter.

As he has done nearly every working day for the last 35 years, Joe Biden took the Amtrak train home to Delaware — his first rail commute since being named Barack Obama’s running mate.

Biden rode in the last car, half of which was blocked off for him by Secret Service. But the talkative Delaware senator didn’t stay seated long, wandering up to the dining car to get some refreshments and chat with his fellow travelers.

“Hey, I’m the nuisance,” Biden announced to the car as the press jostled for position in the cramped aisle. “I used to ride this thing every day and nobody paid any attention.”

“If we get elected, it will be the most train-friendly administration ever,” Biden assured another passenger, moving on to the next car.

Finally arriving at the restaurant car, Biden ordered a cranberry cocktail, assuring reporters the drink wasn’t alcoholic.

“I’m the only guy you know who doesn’t drink,” Biden said, “Never had a drink in my life, too many alcoholics in my family.”

On the way back to his seat, Biden sat down to talk shop with a group that had just come from testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee, prompting Biden to remark that he would have been there if he weren’t “doing this.”

Barack Obama and his surrogates tout Biden’s nightly Amtrak commute home as a testament to his roots, and his link to Washington outsider status. At both ends of the commute Biden hugged and back-slapped Amtrak workers, telling a conductor “you’re like family.”

    1. HE TASERD HIS 10 YEAR OLD SON "AS AN EXPERIMENT"
    2. WHILE HE WAS IN HIS GARAGE HE HAD TWO BEERS AND DROVE OFF IN HIS POLICE CAR WHILE ON DUTY.
    3. HE WENT MOOSE HUNTING ON HIS WIDE'S HUNTING LICENSE

    4. HE ADMITTED TO OTHER "MISTAKES" AND ARE IN HIS OFFICIAL FILES .
AMERICANS OUGHT TO TELL CNN AND THE MEDIA WHY SARAH PALIN AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF ALASKA WOULD HAVE BEEN JUSTIFIED IN FIRING THE "SAFETY OFFICIAL IN HER ADMINISTRATION FOR NOT FIRING THE TROOPER WHO WAS A DANGER TO THE COMMUNITY AND OF ALL PEOPLE SHOULD BE
AND EXAMPLE OF A LAW-ABIDING CITIZEN AND OF ALL PEOPLE

    Joe,

I came to the Americas from Switzerland some 42 years ago. 32 years I spent in Canada, Province of Quebec right next to the Vermont border. The best TV reception I had came from Vermont. That is when I saw you for the first time presiding over some congressional committee. I remember quite alearly that I said to my wife: "You are looking at the President of the United States. I guess I got close.
Keep up the good work, Joe Biden, I am watching you from New York City now, waiting for the right to vote.

Is it me? Or are the McCain people throwing just anything in the other blog areas to hog the headlines?

That old man McCain is either nuts or he can't control his surrogates - or maybe both.

Joe's son, by the way, is no longer a lobbyist. Get over it.

You want to talk about lobbyists............McCain's economic advisor Phil Gramm is responsible for this financial mess. If you don't know who he is, google his name and the legislation he was responsible for.

And by the way, McCain's son was on the board of directors of a recently failed bank taken over by the Feds. His son is now costing tax payers millions.

    To RealityKing:

Around $50/day – I et it's much less than what ALL of the other senators are charging us per day for their travel (private cars, limos, motorcades, jets, etc.)....

Hey "Dave, Illinois", have you counted the number of lobbyists at the top of McCain's staff? (Hint, it will take more than one hand)

This is one more example of how in touch the Obama/Biden ticket is. I sure don't see McCain/Palin having a history of being normal. They are to busy figuring out which house to live in, or which animal to kill to find a fuel efficent way of commuting.
