Biden's typical commute anything but typical

Biden’s typical commute was anything but typical Tuesday.
Biden’s typical commute was anything but typical Tuesday.

WILMINGTON, Delaware (CNN) – Joe Biden returned to his regular commute Tuesday afternoon, surrounded by reminders he was no longer a regular commuter.

As he has done nearly every working day for the last 35 years, Joe Biden took the Amtrak train home to Delaware — his first rail commute since being named Barack Obama’s running mate.

Biden rode in the last car, half of which was blocked off for him by Secret Service. But the talkative Delaware senator didn’t stay seated long, wandering up to the dining car to get some refreshments and chat with his fellow travelers.

“Hey, I’m the nuisance,” Biden announced to the car as the press jostled for position in the cramped aisle. “I used to ride this thing every day and nobody paid any attention.”

“If we get elected, it will be the most train-friendly administration ever,” Biden assured another passenger, moving on to the next car.

Finally arriving at the restaurant car, Biden ordered a cranberry cocktail, assuring reporters the drink wasn’t alcoholic.

“I’m the only guy you know who doesn’t drink,” Biden said, “Never had a drink in my life, too many alcoholics in my family.”

On the way back to his seat, Biden sat down to talk shop with a group that had just come from testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee, prompting Biden to remark that he would have been there if he weren’t “doing this.”

Barack Obama and his surrogates tout Biden’s nightly Amtrak commute home as a testament to his roots, and his link to Washington outsider status. At both ends of the commute Biden hugged and back-slapped Amtrak workers, telling a conductor “you’re like family.”

    PUMAs,

Go home and take your witch Hillary with you. McCain does not need you anymore to win this election.

Why does Biden use a train while his messiah has a private jet?

From the comments made, it is easy to see who should be elected to lead our country. If all of these people would take the time to look at the issues, it would be as clear as it could be. Obalma & Biden for the good of our country. Please leave the silliness out.

    REPUBLICANS CHEATING AGAIN:

The Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee have filed a lawsuit in federal court in Michigan over the Michigan GOP's plan to use foreclosure lists to challenge voters at the polls, as first reported by the Michigan Messenger.

Bob Bauer, general counsel for the Obama campaign, and Mark Brewer, chairman of the Michigan Democratic Party, announced the lawsuit in a conference call with reporters this afternoon. It was filed on behalf of the campaign, the party and three Michigan residents who have had their houses foreclosed upon in recent months.

Bauer called the GOP plan to use foreclosure lists "a new and especially repellent version of caging." Caging is a technique of challenging voters where they take lists of addresses, mail to them with a "do not forward" marking and if for whatever reason those mailings are returned, they use this as a basis for claiming that the voter no longer lives at the address at which they are registered.

  5. JoeBama!

Yeah, he is just like us......what a joke, slapping guys on the back just for the press, "Look at me, I'm Mr. Lunchbucket, I'm from Scranton!"....He is an insider through and through, hasn't worked a real a job since 1972...While I have lots of respect for Joe Biden he is what he is...an elitist Senator that belongs in the Congress not in the Executive branch...unfortunately the same can be said for Obama and McCain... I want a commander in chief not a pretender in chief!!

How can anyone, after hearing Joe Biden's life story, not admire and respect him. His love and concern for his children started that commute a long time ago. His service in the senate has served this country well.

Speaking of commuting! How about Palin's "Per Diemgate". She charged the state of Alaska for spending approx. 311 nights in her own home! Don't they have a Governor's Mansion???? Isn't per diem considered travel on state business?????

To the Hillary supporter voting for McPalin ticket, you id not listen to any of Hillary's speeches when she was running for president – what she stands for, what she believes in. If you loved Hillary than you have to loathe the McPalin ticket now. I have known Hillary since the day she moved to Little Rock many years ago. They share nothing in common except their gender. So if you are looking for a skirt, you have opted for the "empty one"

    @ just a guy

Don't worry. Vperrry's ignorance helps us show why it's so important to take the country back. He doesn't realize that fascism is really steeped in blind nationalistic fervor of the kind the Republicans are selling, not the kind of truthful objective criticism of where we're at that Obama is talking about.

Joe B is giving all of us a great example to follow by using PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION – Personal responsibility is needed foremost of all to address the energy crisis.

I like how everyone focuses on the fact that Biden has one son who works as a lobbyist. Pay no attention to the other son, though, serving in Iraq! It might humanize the Democratic party!

Loves it Obama/Biden 2008!! They only reason people are voting for McShame is because they want to hate Obama for no reason. Its crazy. They would rather deal with an unqualified president than a strong qualified president. Some of you people are sorry excuses for Americans. I bet your ignorance is what got us 8 years of hell!

I sat in the seat directly in front of him on the Acela in June–the day Ted Kennedy had his brain surgery–and he was talking about how "Teddy did really well," and it was just really sweet. He seems like a genuinely nice guy. Now of course, I wish I had said hello!

When are the american people going to wake up and see that Mccain is really out of touch. We need leadership from these two great men that we have in Barak Obama and Joe Biden. John Mccain has been called out on just about every lie that he said in the last week alone. And not to mention that he dont know anything about the economy. Im willing to bet my life on it.... if Barak Obama wasn't a black man John Mcshame wouldn't find a supporter in the world!!!!

BARAK OBAMA/ JOE BIDEN ALL THE WAY TO THE WHITEHOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Way to go, Joe! Can you imagine Primadonna Palin being that accessible and relaxed with reporters and regular folks? She just keeps hiding behind curtains on her plane, and avoiding any unscripted contact with anybody. How elitist.

I must congratulate Biden's son on no longer being a lobbyist. It takes pure dedication to change your life like that for a good cause.
