McCain rips Obama over Streisand fundraiser

Barbara Streisand will be at Sen. Barack Obama's California fundraiser Tuesday night.
Barbara Streisand will be at Sen. Barack Obama's California fundraiser Tuesday night.

(CNN) – As he heads off to a high-dollar fundraiser featuring Barbra Streisand, Barack Obama is hoping the politically-active singer can help him capture the White House.

So is John McCain.

Speaking at a campaign event in the working-class Democratic stronghold of Youngstown, Ohio, the Republican presidential nominee said Obama “talks a tough game on the financial crisis, but the facts tell a different story.

“...He put Fannie Mae’s [former] CEO, who helped create this problem in charge, of finding his vice president. That’s not change - that’s what’s broken in Washington,” said McCain.

“Talk about siding with the people, siding with the people just before he flew off to Hollywood for a fundraiser with Barbra Streisand and his celebrity friends,” he said. “Let me tell you my friends, theres no place I’d rather be than here with the working men and women of Ohio.”

Streisand, a staunch Democrat, is scheduled to perform at a $28,500 a head Obama fundraiser Tuesday night in Beverly Hills, California.

If the democratic party would have found a moderate democratic candidate instead of an ultra left winged candidate they would have had this election in the bag. Americans want a change, but those of us on the fence are tired of watching liberal federal judges interperting the constiution (instead of making judgements) and slowly chiping away our fundamental American way of life. If Obama is elected he will seat more of these "Free Thinkers", and when we see him in the middle of the Hollywood crazys who think they are the American norm, it scares us tho death.

John Mccain is just looking for a reason if you ask me. Attacking someone about a fundraiser? If thats not looking for a reason through desperation what is?

McCain is so condescending to women. He has gone after several today- His true colors are showing. What a sub-standard excuse for a presidential candidate.

Yeah, John, you say you'd rather be with the hard working men and women of America. Right. So, why have you voted against every bill for raising the minimum wage? Where have you been on health care reform? Oh, that's right, you've been in one of your seven residences.

Most of the "Hollywood Elite" are not worth $100,000,000 like McCain's second wife (who he cheated with while married to his first wife)

Wow. Coming from McCain (Husband of $Cindy$, Homeowner Times Seven – Or Is It Ten?) that just sounds ridiculous. He has no more in common with us broke "regular" Americans that he's courting than I do with Babs herself.

OH BLOW IT OUT YOUR EAR JOHN BUSH! Your pettiness and little boy games are more than I can handle. When you get something mature and concrete to rant about call me! Your just annoyed because you can't take up all the programming with endless repeats on your POW experience! I may be grateful for your service but it doesn't give you the right to use air time that could be sloted for more informative, newsworty reports for your repetitious and what I find less than humble personal accounts. Give some of the other POW's and military heroes equal time and I might have a different feeling. Personally, you totally turned me off. My father gave six years in the front lines and never did I hear him recount his story!

McCain and family et al is having dinner in a diner after his speech.....just like us ordinary folks do sometimes.

Barbara, I hope you get sudden laryngitis to teach you all, most of all Obama, what it is to be a little humble.

the country is in financial turmoil and all these elitist celebrities are having a little $30,000.00 tete a tete.

Someone has yet to explain to me when Hollywood stars became non-citizens. They have as much right as the rest of us to voice their political opinions. I didn't see the Republicans having a problem with Ted Nugent, Chuck Norris, et. al,, supporting the GOP candidates. I would argue that despite their money and lush surroundings, many Hollywood types have more connections to us "regular folk" than McCain, his wife and their cronies because they either grew up poor or have relatives who are suffering the same problems as the rest of the country is. Stick to the issues. Obama in '08!!!

    Who cares?

If McCain wants to spend time discussing Barbara – fine. His choice. The rest of us will listen to the other guy, talking about how to fix our economy.
