(CNN) – A newly formed anti-abortion group is taking direct aim at Barack Obama, launching a television ad in key campaign states that features a 31-year old survivor of an abortion procedure.
The ad is only one of a handful of newly-launched independent television commercials hitting airwaves in recent weeks as the final stretch of the presidential campaign begins.
BornAliveTruth.org, an independent expenditure group known as a 527, is hitting airwaves in New Mexico and Ohio with a 30-second spot that criticizes the Democratic presidential nominee for voting against the Born Alive Infants Protection Act in when he was an Illinois state senator. Obama has said the Illinois state Senate version of that bill was an attempt to undermine Roe vs. Wade, and said Illinois already had a law that insured life saving treatment was given to survivors of abortion procedures.

The group was founded by Jill Stanek, a columnist to the conservative for Web site World Net Daily, who has made controversial statements in the past expressing her opposition of abortion rights. Under the headline “Faithful condom users die,” she wrote on her Web site in March that efforts to post billboards in Tanzania with the words "Faithful Condom Users" next to a picture of a large skeleton should be supported.
The new ad features Gianna Jessen, who survived a late-term abortion procedure in 1977 and says in the ad, "If Barack Obama had his way, I wouldn't be here."
“Can you imagine not giving babies their basic human rights, no matter how they entered our world?" Jessen says in the ad. "Four times, Barack Obama voted to oppose a law to protect babies left to die after a failed abortion. Senator Obama, please support born alive infant protections. I’m living proof these babies have a right to live.”

A part of me hopes that McCain and Palin do get elected and they do make abortion legal. The problem now is that women think it will never happen, they've gotten complacent, they don't think they'll ever lose their reproductive rights and lose control of their own bodies. If McCain/Palin prove them wrong, you'll never see another Republican President or Congress get elected.

Saw this young lady on Fox last night. A beautiful human being who suffers from Cerebral Palsy as a result of this horrible event. Hope Fox replays this interview. It will make the most steadfast Pro-Choice person into a Pro-Life proponent on the born alive issue after hearing this ladies story. Hopefully, Obama was ignorant on what this bill actually meant when he voted against it.
Here's the beauty of Roe vs Wade. It gives the woman the right to make a decision, it does not force her to make a decision. My mother gave birth to me after Roe vs Wade, she made the choice. Nobody told her that she had to have an abortion.
Its funny that the republicans had control of the congress for 6 straight years and the White House for 8 straight years and said nothing about abortions. But every 4 years we see ads for this crap as if it is important.

This woman's story only proves that life-saving procedures *are already used* in these circumstances. She was provided life-saving treatement without this unnecessary and litigious law, so would other babies in the same circumstances.

Gitty, Obama needs to get expirience but Palin doesn't? Obama has been an elected official on the national stage for 11 years and Palin has been for 20 months. It seems to me that you are voting for a women no matter what the women if you support both Hillary and Palin considering their policies couldn't be any more different. One is pro-life, one is pro-choice, one is for universal health care, one isn't. But sure lets just vote for whatever women is up for election.

There are some laws in some states ( I dont know about all states) that you cannot abort past a certain period in your pregnancy. This failed abortion stuff and late term pregnancy abortions I have not heard of.. and do not agree with.
I believe if a woman does not want her child in an early stage is her choice. And especially if its due to rape, incest, or health reasons.

Abortion should be women right to chose. Abortion should not be used for birth control methods. I was raped at 13 and became pregant and had a abortion. No child should have to suffer of rape and being pregant, We do not want to repeat history of women dying giving self abortions. Why would you put your daughter through that?
Can you imagine self abortions and sucide would be up? All because the law was reversed. Who is going to take care all these unwanted babies? We have too many in the system not being adopted. With all the failures that is going around who can afford to feed extra mouth when they can't afford to put food on the table for the one they have now?
