A prominent backer of Hillary Clinton is endorsing McCain.

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Lynn Forester de Rothschild, a prominent Hillary Clinton supporter and member of the Democratic National Committee’s Platform Committee, will endorse John McCain for president on Wednesday, her spokesman tells CNN.

The announcement will take place at a news conference on Capitol Hill, just blocks away from the DNC headquarters. Forester will “campaign and help him through the election,” the spokesman said of her plans to help the Republican presidential nominee.

Forester was a major donor for Clinton earning her the title as a Hillraiser for helping to raise at least $100,000 for the New York Democratic senator’s failed presidential bid.

In an interview with CNN this summer, Forester did not hide her distaste for eventual Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

“This is a hard decision for me personally because frankly I don't like him,” she said of Obama in an interview with CNN’s Joe Johns. “I feel like he is an elitist. I feel like he has not given me reason to trust him.”

Forester is the CEO of EL Rothschild, a holding company with businesses around the world. She is married to international banker Sir Evelyn de Rothschild. Forester is a member of the DNC’s Democrats Abroad chapter and splits her time living in London and New York.

It takes cojones to do what Lynn Rothschild did. Obama has zero experience with anything. Voting present won't cut it. And you clowns want that in the white house? I and all my Dem friends are voting for McCain/Palin.

palin_rocks_obama_sucks   September 17th, 2008 8:48 am ET

When he blew Hillary off, he blew me and a WHOLE LOT of my friends off too. This was the first really BIG decision of Obama's political life, and he told me everything I needed to know about who he really is. And so did McCain, for that matter. Show me what you do, and I'll show you who you really are.

I've never seen so many whiny, fraidy cat liberals in one place before

tommy richards   September 17th, 2008 7:19 am ET

Lynn Forester de Rothschild has it together but, of course, the commie-centric dislike sarah palin's `correct, traditional' philosophy!

Reagan Democrat   September 17th, 2008 6:58 am ET

Obama was against offshore drilling and is now for it. He was against the troop surge and now agrees it worked. Against charter schools, now for. Against Bush's tax cuts, now will extend them. The most frightening thing is his vow to nearly double capital gains. The Clinton administration lowered them and that created wealth. My distrust of Barack stems from his record of very poor decision making. We really don't know where he stands - he votes 'present'. This is America's problem with him. I supported Hillary but will not vote for Obama this time around. McCain has a solid record of bipartisanship.

uncgirlinct   September 17th, 2008 6:51 am ET

I'm glad someone has the guts to express this publicly. There are a lot of us who feel the exact same way…you say that Obama doesn't need us, we'll see if you're right about that.

Sue, NY   September 17th, 2008 6:40 am ET

It's a little like calling the kettle black is it not…with the background she has and the fact that she splits her time between London and New York… and she thinks Obama is an elitist!…give me a break…people will look for any excuse when they don't get their way…very childish…

Vito   September 17th, 2008 6:33 am ET

No doubt the first of many. It's funny to see the squeeling children frustrated by a free-thinker. How can you trust a guy who's main claim to fame is he doesn't have a political resume? He showed his colors by selecting Biden as his runnign mate. Same old Same old tired tax and spend elitist.

Lynn Forester who?

Exactly. Not a crucial endorsement. Moving on.

Being a simple man I look at what drives a person and their actions. I see on the top of the tickets.. One man driven by self engrandizment and peer validation. Anouther a proven patriot making the last stand of his life for this country. One man seeking identity and resume and anouther knowing he will soon die and the maturity to know it is not his legacy that matters but the legacy of this country he loves. One is far to the extream in their party. And the other is spat on by his own for being to far to the center.

ConservativesRule   September 17th, 2008 4:11 am ET

Don't get too mad at your network libs. They carry your water 99% of the time. You wouldn't want to make them mad over one critical story about your secular messiah.

whitneymuse   September 17th, 2008 3:32 am ET

With the (D) capitulation and compromise on the energy bill; that doesn't allow drilling and gives no incentives or revenues to the states. who do they think they're fooling?
The ban on drilling dies a natural death of its own anyway; I hope they get wise and just let the bill die; Nany Pelosi is the biggest fraud only just slightly less a fraud than the last speaker who was a Repube.

Eli   September 17th, 2008 3:31 am ET

Truth is in the pudding, so to speak.

While the US economy is in a "Crisis" or as Obama termed it on the campaign trail "America is facing the worst economic crisis in history". Obama, the "just an ordinary hard working american" is hobnobbing & rubbing elbows with the Hollywood Elite lining his pockets to the tune of 9 MILLION DOLLARS in donations this very night, 09.16.08. Do you think $28,000 a plate dinner is excessive? How about contradictory, while lecturing americans on our wasteful habits on everything from energy to goods and services. Hate to burst your bubble, but Obama is ELITE. Don't you know how those HARVARD graduates think!

Conservative Ron   September 17th, 2008 3:27 am ET

I have never been a conspiracy hack on the Clintons. That is, I've never bought into the numerous theories regarding outrageous and nefarious claims of Clinton misdeeds (ie Vince Foster, etc).

However, the news that a prominent Hillary backer, on the DNC platform committee no less, will endorse McCain vice Obama lends credence to the supposition that Hillary does *not* want Obama to win in 2008 so that she can gain the DNC nomination for 2012.

As someone who voted twice against Bill, and didn’t think that Hillary had a chance to become Senator in New York, I’ve learned not to under-estimate the Clinton team. As a side show to this election season, I’ll be watching for more people from the Hillary camp coming out for McCain, as well as lackluster support for Obama from the Clintons themselves.

Zel   September 17th, 2008 3:26 am ET

It is pretty clear. It not that you don't trust him. Its just that he is black. Shame on you!!! Don't you know that racism is a thing of the past. We are a new generation move on with the times.

Anthony   September 17th, 2008 3:20 am ET

Excellent, finally "some" liberal people are seeing the light!

Exactly what has Obama done………..?, still waiting……….and waiting…………………, oh, nothing that you can specifically state….

Oh, wait today the news just came in on the four (4) liberal media platforms Obama controls. He says he was the author of our stimulus package which gave us our rebates checks this year…………….., but he didn't even bother to vote on the bill "he created", wow, he must have really been busy reforming…….his campaign, of……..change you can believe in. No doubt that slogan is TRUE look at all the zombies……they believe in NOTHING for the sake of the rah, rah! Oh quick somebody fainted again…..

Lynn Forester de Rothschild, she is not against Obama as a black, or a man, she is against a guy who can't make a decision, even on "his" landmark simulus package… "Hey advisers, should I go to congress to vote on that bill I created or should I give a speach like I did in 2004?"

How laughable. Liberals relax your panic grip, notice your knuckles are turning white, and they will be bleeding by Nov 4th, ha, ha, ha, ha.

Obama will lose because most Americans, unlike you elite, liberal communists, we are reasonable, practical, and can actually pull up our own pants in the morning. We aren't looking for a handout, and we definately don't need the old tired liberal playbook that government (name higher taxes) are going to solve anything. You guys have been doing the same thing for over 60 years, and what have you solved? NOTHING. This sums up Obama's campaign of "Something the Same that only the hysterical can believe in"

Have fun believing for another 50 or so days……

Crysomemore   September 17th, 2008 3:20 am ET

Really? Because McCain's policies are so close to Mrs. Clinton? I was a Clinton supporter and to just let everyone know, we all aren't liitle crybabies that will take our ball and go home if we don't get our way. I guess him not choosing her as a running mate was the final straw? How could he? The Clinton campaign practically painted him into a corner on that subject. I think it's been said before, this lady is PATHETIC!

yvonne p. rivera   September 17th, 2008 3:20 am ET

the best candidate is obama, as far as this republican, catholic, conservative ,retired veteran of 21 years is concerned. you know black veterans and soldiers have died for this great realm of ours, too. looking for and fighting for the time when skin color would not matter. maccain has sold his soul to the devil, just as hillary did when she sat at the table with her sworn enemies, the mellon-scaithes, the sean hannities, and the bill-os of this world just to get elected. now i hear where karl rove is advising mccain. what has happened to that great gentleman, i really once did admire? he could deliver such great speeches. what has happened to you john mccain? i do believe that obama will pull in the younger voters, who will propel to the finish line on 4 november. john mccain, what happened to the straight-talk guy you were in 2000? you know how the bush campaign railroaded you. i thought i heard you say that you would not do that to your opponents. boo! hoo!

george at cape straight alaska   September 17th, 2008 3:19 am ET

The first poster is not aware that Alaska has always had high unemployment rates due to the seasonal nature of fishing and tourism and large Native American villages which are heavily reliant on social services.

To say Palin is responsible for this condition ignores history. Goes to show there are liars and then there are statistics.

Many women were outraged over how the rules committee of the Democratic party stole the nomination from Clinton. No wonder they are jumping ship.

Rod   September 17th, 2008 3:19 am ET

I just get a kick out of how Obama supporters have eaten up his mantra about McCain being the 2nd coming of Bush! How shallow thinking is that? It is the only thing Obama can do to scare his voters into pulling the lever for him!

Any person with active intelligence will actually see through that. They might not necessarily vote for McCain, but if they vote for Obama, they will do so for a totally different reason! The McCain = Bush is just so much Koolaid for automatons to consume. Get past that tired old scare tactic and find something substantive to use for fodder for Heaven's sake! Got that "irony"?

CHIJIOKE   September 17th, 2008 3:18 am ET

All you people that talk about job loss, how many jobs you created.?
Government does not create jobs. They are tax-collectors. If everyone of us waits around to be hired by the Government, I bet you the unemployment rate will be about 90%. Think about that you idiots who don't understand that the so-called Obama's tax cut on the rich are those that put some food on your tables.. Lest see what will happen to you if their businesses go down and so are you. They are the ones making the magic number $250,000.00 per year. Obama should encourage them to expand so more people could be absorbed into the work force.

Renee   September 17th, 2008 3:18 am ET

Go ahead, Lynn Foresterde Rothschild was not a Democratic just for Hillary BAD MOVE for Lynn Foresterde Rothschild because Hillary is for Obama Hillary said Obama was her candidate.

Sorry For You Democrats   September 17th, 2008 3:16 am ET

Here is what I do not understand. You democrats preach tolerance and inclusion and as soon as someone disagrees with you they are called names and dismissed. What has happened to the democrat party? It seems the party has descended into hate and dishonor. First you say you are for womens right to choose then when the woman chooses life you have a fit? Also where is the evidence that Barrack Obama has more experience than Sara Palin? What exactly has Obama done? Where has Obama led? Just today we find out that Obama was given more money from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac than everyone other than Chris Dodd. Also isn't the guy that was in charge of vetting and choosing Obama's vice-presidental pick a CEO at Fannie Mae? Why aren't you seekers of truth discussing this? And lastly what makes any of you think you are right about Obama? He has admitted to using drugs and has never stood up for anything and he made a horrible decision by not choosing Hillary as his VP. Wise up!

Anonymous   September 17th, 2008 3:15 am ET

Go Lady de Rothschild, millions of Democrats like myself support your decision to endorse McCain/Palin.

Interesting how Obama suporters have nothing but hateful things to say about anyone that chooses not to support their Leader.

I'm voting against Obama neophyte HATE 2008.

Stephanie Bergland   September 17th, 2008 3:15 am ET

Oh, the Obamatrons never stop, and you wonder why HRC's supporters don't want to support your candidate. You're allegations of racism never cease to amaze me. You're consistent use of name calling as your weapon against us is not working–it didn't work six months ago and it's not working now. Go ahead, question our loyalty and trivialize our intelligence, as in the end, at least you'll know why Obama lost. Don't worry, I have switched parties at this point and am now an Independent. I no longer want to be part of a party that touts inclusion–as long as the people think just like everyone else does. What's the difference between that and the Republicans who are more inclined to wear their exclusive status on their sleaves? I don't want anything to do with any of it–I'll vote independent of a party for the first time in twenty years. Thank you–I feel liberated!

Paul Currier   September 17th, 2008 3:14 am ET

Hey irony
The state of Illinois unemployment rate as of Aug 2008 is 7.3% the states highest level in almost 15 yrs, 1.2% higher than nat avg. And you are wrong about consistent job loss every mo since Palin is Gov. According to your own source ( labor.state.ak)
" While the country as a whole has shed jobs every mo so far in 2008, Ak is one of a handfull of states that has continued to see employment growth"

My, my… the infantile whinings of Democrats as women and independents leave them one by one is a pathetic thing to see. How quick they are to attack and try to destroy those who don't toe their party line and have the NERVE to actually think for themselves.

It's people like these that are inspiring Democrats like ME to vote for McCain and Palin. Keep it up, guys… you'll drive McCain into the White House for SURE at this rate. :)

Abe   September 17th, 2008 3:12 am ET

She doesn't like Obama because she knows he's a phony. He's done nothing in his nearly 3 years in the Senate but run for the presidency. Bet he doesn't even know a senators job descrition.

It's a silly argument to malign Palin. SHe's done tons more than Obama has. What's HE done in the Ilinois senate? Send Resco in to make millions on rehabs and but Obama a house with a lot for pennies. But what DID Oabama do? Memorable bills? none. Same thing in the Senate..what's he done? memorable bills? not one.

Oh and Tish, why is it that the libs always try to silence the opposition? CNN ain't much but it does report things. ANything that make Obama look iffy deserves to be posted. He's a clown lookin after himself like he always has. He gives a crap about you or anyone. Self interested left wing socialist. Sounds like a winner to me…. He's paid no price…..gramma sent him to school. Not one dime did he pay.

nancy workman   September 17th, 2008 3:12 am ET

Does anyone else see the delicious irony of a Rothscheild eschewing elitism? Or the bizarre attitude of the "feminists" with their sleazy attacks on Palin? What, exactly were we fighting for in the sixties and seventies? I won't vote for Obama because he is an abortion loving marxist with shady friends. I only hope that you lefties keep it up cause you're driving more votes to McCain/Palin by your sheer nastiness.

swathdiver   September 17th, 2008 3:10 am ET

When Government creates a job and then hires a person to do that job, that's one less person creating wealth. It's another person taxpayers have to support. So Palin eliminating government jobs is good for the economy. As for gas prices, you don't have to look any further then Mother Pelosi, she created that mess through legislation. Look up the 2007 legislation. She's also responsible for the soaring food costs as well, same tactic used.

A POPULARITY CONTEST??? What in the name of all that is holy do you think an election is????? IT IS A POPULARITY CONTEST!! That is why Obama the Slickster spends so much time cutting down Sarah Palin!! SHE IS POPULAR (which is a good thing for a politician): BILL CLINTON WAS POPULAR. RONALD REAGAN WAS POPULAR. Judas Priest, for supporters of Obama the new age Messiah, the INDONISIAN HERE TO HEAL US ALL (as he said, he is the ONE that we have been waiting for) have a lot of nerve now to complain that this is reduced to a "popularity contest."

YOU DIDN'T COMPLAIN WHEN YOUR SLICK AND EMPTY SUIT WAS AHEAD!! What was that fiasco in Denver all about?? He wasn't content to receive the "crown of fig leaves" in the Pepsi Center WITH THOSE WHO ELECTED HIM, NO HE HAD TO HAVE THE ADORING THRONGS, IN THE HUGE OUTDOORS BRONCO FOOTBALL STADIUM, WITH HIS VERY OWN STYROFOAM COLUMNS, LIKE ANY OTHER GRECO-ROMAN CONQUERER!!

(Forgive the rest of the country from laughing) the fact that YOUR CREEP TRIED TO NEGOTIATE WITH THE IRAQi GOVERNMENT (TREASON) AND TRIED TO BULLY THE GERMANS (AGAINST THE CONSTITUTION) AND PULLS A BONER GAFFE EVERY SINGLE TIME HE OPENS HIS MOUTH (to the point now that he has to BRING A TELEPROMPTER TO A RODEO, the funniest thing ever to happen in politics) ONLY MAKES YOUR INDONESIAN FELLA LOOK LIKE A SHINY-SUITED SHYSTER BULLY WITH JUG-EARS!

But, we can't hold all that against him too much, after all; OBAMA THE IDIOT DIDN'T SET FOOT ON THESE SHORES UNTIL HE WAS 18 YEARS OLD, AND THEN ONLY TO GO TO FANCY COLLEGES AND LAW SCHOOLS (affirmative action) AND THEN HE WENT TO CHICAGO TO BECOME A "NEIGHBORHOOD ORGANIZER" [that's code for Sal Alinsky brand Marxist / Leninist / socialist / anarchist / and chaos training AND THAT'S WHEN HE CHANGED FROM BEING A MUSLIM TO BEING A BLACK SEPARATIST "CHRISTIAN" THAT BELIEVES IN REPARATION AND SEPARATION OF BLACKS AND WHITES (PROVIDING THE WHITES GIVE ALL THEIR MONEY).

Then, there is his American hating WIFE who wears the pants in the family (ASK WHY and I will tell you that OBAMA likes his guy-fun and she knows she can DESTROY HIM whenever she wants to (PLUS HE WANTS TO BE HEAD OF THE NATION OF ISLAM ONCE OLD LOUIS FARRAKHAN KICKS THE BUCKET AND MICHELLE CAN MAKE OR BREAK THAT DEAL (hint: her brother is part of the package; he can break OBAMA into little pieces).

Elitest isn't allways about money though it helps. Its more about attitude and convictions.

plz blink   September 17th, 2008 3:06 am ET

Have you noticed anything peculiar about sara palin's behavior? Do you think that she may perhaps be more confident than she should, given the fact that she is virtually unknown, lacks a great deal of foriegn policy knowledge, and fills in the gaps with chatter about anything that will get a reaction from the crowd? Take her speech in Nevada, for example. Utterly ridiculous, yet she stood there without
any seeming ability to be self conscious enough to know that she was not coming across very clearly. Nor did she seem to be making much of a point at all, or talking about issues. After her her comment on Charles Gibson where she said "you can't blink"–I became scared of her, that is the kind of thing that very impulsive people say!

Rodrigo Pineda   September 17th, 2008 3:06 am ET

Obama is a liar, corrupt, two faced elitist. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. The two big economic problems in this country are a result of liberal/democratic policies that NObama is part of it. We need to DRILL and get back to nuclear and alternative sources of energy as well as to maintain a stable political system in the countries that supply our oil needs, exactly what NOBAMA is not, and guess who blocked all attempts to regulate Fannie/Fred, the democrats, Cristopher Dodd, and guess who got political bribes from Fannie/Fred, the democrats, and ahead of the line NOBAMA, and guess who is one of obama main economic advisors is , the CEO of Fannie/Fred who also led the VP selection effort. WE CAN NOT Afford more of the SAME crook politics , we need HONOR, TRUSFULLNESS, REAL CHANGE and EXPERIENCE in the white house. and OBAMA is NOT

Pam   September 17th, 2008 3:06 am ET

Hillary did ask if we were there for her, and yes we were because she represented the Democratic Party and not the party of a mythnical phony. Obama is further from being a Democrat than McCain. He IS an elitist, He is full of himself and now he is waffling all over like a fish dropped on the deck of a ship. The Pres helped elect the Dem. nominee simply because he was black, not because he was new and had a great message. He had no message other than that he wanted to be President and he and his campaign staff are blowing it worst than any campaign in history.

Did they not think his racial comments, use of the race card and obvious distain for America got by the people? I don't cling to any guns and he can believe all that crap if he wants. He simply does not represent the core Democrat and that's that. His speech has become a broken record. He cannot talk about the issues without a teleprompter and when he does everyone is saying "huh?". He never should have been the nominee and race should never have played the guilt card. Now we are stuck with a dud.

Sooner or later the males in the Democratic Party are going to realize that it is them against the radical feminists. Apparently, Dems could not say they did not want the shrill radical feminist Hillary…without punishment.

Half the Democrats would sooner be killed than to have allowed Hillary to win the nomination….yet her supporters still think that she can come back in 2012 if they only destroy Obama this year.

She will not win in 2012. The Obama supporters from this year will remember the sick and twisted way she stabbed them in the back in the general in 2008…or at least I would think that way if I were a Democrat Obama supporter.

What scares me is that these feminists now control McCain and the Republican Party because they are considered the swing vote. They are a huge swing vote.

American men are stupid to allow a situation where two parties dominate and the swing vote are radical feminists who will get what they want in terms of new legislation no matter what happens.

H. Valdez, Hillsboro, Oregon   September 17th, 2008 3:05 am ET

Yikes, looks like we all are jumping ship to McCain. I must say, I owe Hillary's Campaign and apology. It seemed like they were just complaining about the sexism by Obama's people, but wow, look what they are trying to do to Palin. Let's go McCain, and then see what Hillary wants to do in 2012.

Go USA   September 17th, 2008 3:04 am ET

I'm sorry for you Irony, another scared obama worshiper. The reality is obama is just another politician who will say whatever he has to. There is no change possible with this candidate. Just Demo talking points. Try to be a little opened minded and independent in your thinking, so you don't become bitter and angry.

Jim   September 17th, 2008 3:03 am ET

I couldn't help comment on irony's comment that Palin did not create jobs in Alaska during her tenure as Governor. According to the reference given by Irony, The Alaska Labor Dept shows that unemployment in AK rose from about 6 to 6.5% in the last two years while the US average rose from 4.25 to 5.75% So in the last two years AK's unemployment rate rose 12.5% against the US average increase of 29%.
To clarify AK's unemployment rate increase was less than 1/2 that of the US as a whole. That is a good thing.
Irony shows how easy it is to misrepresent numbers and how much some people think the government is responsible for creating jobs. The difference between a communist government and a democratic one is in a communist society the government is responsible for creating jobs. We don't need a politburo to create jobs. We need a government that gets out of the way so that the people can create jobs. I have no need for an O-bwana. (Swahili for false smile, false words, false hope).

The are so many mindless automotons chanting "O-ba-ma O-ba-ma" these days it's refreshing to see someone who can think for themselves. To those who believe government should create jobs - it's our capitalist system and individual freedoms that should be creating jobs you socialist twits!

TX Lady   September 17th, 2008 2:59 am ET

If I thought for even a minute that Obama really had the same ideas and plans as Sen. Clinton I might vote for him. When he first appeared on the scene I wanted to learn more about him, he seemed at first like the answer to this country's problem. Then I bought and read his books, listened to him when he gave speeches and watched as he mesmerized the American people. He's a phony, he can't do what he promises, the numbers don't add up. I do believe he would bring change, I don't think I would like the kind of change he offers. I work very hard for what I have, I don't want to give it to those who sit home and do nothing. I managed to put myself through college while working a full time job and raising 3 daughters as a single mom, I know what it is like on both sides of the fence. I don't believe people have a right to hand outs. Get off your butt and work for what you want. I donate every week to help the elderly and children, they can't do for themselves. I don't want to have to support the lazy too. When Obama made his choice for VP it only reinforced for me his inability to make good decisions. NO OBAMA, NO WAY!!

I'll trust the great Senater from Illinois when he offers:

- The date of his last illegal drug use
- His willingness to submit to a drug test
- An explanation of what took place in the limo with Larry Sinclair
- Why he refuses to turn over his cell phone records from the night of his illegal drug used and homosexual sex

I'm waiting….

D.A.A.   September 17th, 2008 2:59 am ET

I would say he probably is an elitist.

HE MOST CERTAINLY NEVER GAVE ME A REASON TO TRUTH HIM.

"I don't know boss . . . this one's gonna be hard to throw under the bus"

Obama is at teacher and Americans hate school   September 17th, 2008 2:59 am ET

Wow, this lady owns a corporation and is married to a banker, and she has the nerve to not like Obama for being "elitist"? No, I'm positive that couldn't be the reason. That is silly coming from a woman who is educated and was rational until Hillary lost the primaries. I'm wondering if some evil person recently gave de Rothschild (a very elitist sounding name btw) and Fiorina both lobotomies that rendered them dumb. Fiorina won't stop babbling on about who could or couldn't run a corporation, and now this one is supporting a candidate based on the fact that she is afraid of black men. I hope that these two women don't reflect the general mindset of today's white businesswomen…

Ironic?   September 17th, 2008 2:58 am ET

Brave move by a brave woman. This is news because it's an example of what's happening all over the country. Many of my customers (I'm in remodeling) have stated that they can't stand Obama or Biden, and they're jumping tickets. Also, Hillary's policies were way more conservative than Obama's. Apart from healthcare, she's very similar to McCain.

By the way "Hypocrasy Rules", learn how to spell. And how come every Republican that pulls himself/herself up by his/her bootstraps is a hillbilly, and every Democrat that does so decides no one else can do it without government help? Oh, well. It probably doesn't matter much because if Obama violated the Logan act as per the NYPost, this election's over. McChange is on the way!

Mike   September 17th, 2008 2:58 am ET

Obama does not need this, or any other woman's support. He is the best MAN for the job!

Craig Nazor   September 17th, 2008 2:58 am ET

Our economy is tanking through bailouts of huge corporations (eight years of bad economic policy from Bush/Cheney, about which McCain has said that the fundamentals are sound), the last in a line of strong hurricanes has decimated Galviston and Houston (global climate change, which McCain wants to deal with by drill, drill, drill…), we are losing to the Taliban in Afgahnistan through poor diplomacy with Pakistan and by being bogged down in a war in Iraq (a war McCain thinks he can "win"), and now the wealthy, supposedly Democrat CEO of an international holding company and wife of a Knight of the British Kingdom is calling Obama an "elitist" and because of that is going to support McCain…

Talk about the "silly season". Does Lynn Forester de Rothschild think we are stupid just like McCain thinks we are stupid? She's no Democrat, just like he's no straight-talker. All these millionaires are the real elitists, and it's no surprise that they would support each other. But Obama/Biden much better represents the interests of the majority of the American people!

Independent in Florida   September 17th, 2008 2:57 am ET

I think a significant number of Hillary supporters are leaning in that direction as well. Not the majority, but enough to tip the election for John McCain.

GM   September 17th, 2008 2:56 am ET

Brava, Ms. Rothschild, for your courageous stand.

This not-so-prominent Clinton backer and lifelong Democrat will be joining you and countless other similarly placed Democrats in voting for, working toward the election of, and financially supporting the campaign of John McCain.

Katrina   September 17th, 2008 2:56 am ET

The endorsement came from Lynn because she is a "thinking" democrat.

Independent conservative   September 17th, 2008 2:54 am ET

You liberals crack me up! If Obama doesn't need her vote then I guess he doesn't need mine. I would, however, like to point out that he is in a dead heat with his opponent, so you all should be careful when writing people off. Undecided voters luke myself just might feel inclined to give our vote to someone who does need it. All of the hateful comments from liberals directed towards those who dont support Obama really need to stop. Obama really is like every other politician. Those colors have shown ever brighter ever since McCain has began closing in on his lead.

Liberty is On Life Support   September 17th, 2008 2:54 am ET

Haha… government just grew by $85B with the AIG Bailout. It does not really matter who wins in November, both sets of candidates will just make things worse for everybody. You want more government in your lives? You are gonna get it, and surely more than you ever wanted.

canuck4barack   September 17th, 2008 2:54 am ET

"Who is she calling an elitist? Then you have McCain with 100 million in the bank and 9 houses."
Exactly what I was thinking. As for the reasoning that she doesn't like him because he is black, I think it has more to do with the fact she is one of those poor, unfortunates in that 5-10% group that Obama is targeting with increased taxes. It must be worrisome for the poor soul, when you consider her increase in taxes will far outweigh the average American's yearly salary!

Sam   September 17th, 2008 2:53 am ET

I'm sorry… if your name is Lynn Forester de Rothschild, then you don't get to call ANYONE an elitist.

mascmen7   September 17th, 2008 2:53 am ET

It does not matter who win Prez race as David Rockefeller and Rothschilds will order whoever wins to do their will. That is the dirty secret noone talks about for fear of being punished.

manhandler   September 17th, 2008 2:53 am ET

I agree. I'm a liberal independent who supported Hillary during the primary. I'm angry at the Dems. for forcing Obama on us. The Democratic leadership of Reid, Pelosi and Dean ought to lose their jobs big time after Obama loses this election. I'm now for McCain. He is NOT Bush, he's the only that seems to realize that the real problem is the outside money in politics and that's the only way anything is ever gonna change. i feel just like she does about Obama. I don't like him!!!

EMC   September 17th, 2008 2:52 am ET

Hey irony, governments create very few jobs. It is private business that creates the jobs in this country. But I guess that would change if obama bin biden was elected? It is the failed policies of the democrats and the environmental whacks that have ruined this country.

Fake Forester   September 17th, 2008 2:51 am ET

Either Lynn Forester is a republican by nature, or she don't like strong black men who has the audacity to run for president of the United States. For her to endorse McCain is about the fakest thing I have ever seen anyone do.

Dave   September 17th, 2008 2:50 am ET

This is America… people vote their own choices… I admire this person for bucking party lines and voting for the best candidate. I too am energized by the Republican ticket and have decided to cast my vote contrary to what the pundits demand. If the Democrats were as eager to investigate the failure of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac as they are to criticize the Republicans and try to hang every thing that goes wrong on Bush in hopes of splitting voters into opposing groups then perhaps I would reconsider. But I am not holding my breath. There are far too many "D" party loyalists who looted the bank to let that happen!

My comment for Pelosi: Drill Babby Drill… you lost me when you put your party and your stubborn beliefs ahead of your constituents.

I really don't see much difference between HC or BO. But BO's snide treatment of HC during the Primaries and they way the Media has built his ego has convinced me that he does feel he's above others.

What sealed the point was BOs small town guns & religion comment. I just don't like folks that make such broad generalizations about people. That comment belittles & insults some 50 million between the coast people (a lot of those small town folks are Democrats).

The trip to Europe didn't help either.

Obama appears to be a Chameleon putting on the color he needs for a situation. Remember his "Good Friend" of 20 years, Pastor Wright? Obama "kicked him to the curb" when he was no longer convenient. With character like this, consider how he will be in Foreign Policy; Obama had the audacity to claim he did not know his "Good Friend" of 20 years was racist. Is Obama also blind and deaf? now thats irony   September 17th, 2008 2:40 am ET

You see politicians don't create jobs - the American people do. Politicians do take other peoples money - killing jobs. You see beside "common good" items like defense and some infrastructure - money is used less efficiently moves slower and kills wealth in government. Its a fact proven thought all history without fail.

Gas prices high in Alaska? They've always been higher because the economies of scale dont allow the local refining power. Alaskans bnefit by getting back payments for their oil (whick Palin negotiated a huge increase in).

There's alot more but of course I'm going to bed - Ive got a business to run in the morning - not a govt job I can sleepwalk though.

BTW: Has The High & Holy Anointed One ever fully explained why he chose Joe "Mr. Eloquence" Biden over Clinton as his VP running mate ? Rife Madson   September 17th, 2008 2:36 am ET

Of course, this is the case with millions of Clinton supporters.

Obama is in big trouble. Throughout the primary season, Obama consistently underperformed his pre election polling numbers.

I am amazed at how inept the Democrats are. Had you nominated Hillary, this election would have been a slam dunk.

In reality, with the exception of Dennis Kucinich, any other Democratic candidate who ran in the primary would have won this election easily.

But the Dems got hoodwinked by the charismatic snake oil salesman and nominated the one man who couldn't win the election that was tailor made for them.

Pathetic indeed.

Thanks again, Democrats!

Obama supporters still chithing about how Obama has a better shot of "uniting washington"?

you'd have to be either an idiot or Obama himself to actually believe that over McCain, who's taken heat from his own party so often in the past for voting his conscience.

Based on the incoherent nature of the comments on this board and in light of the numerous misspellings in the text of them one might be tempted to believe that Obama supporters are ignoramuses. I would never say that though because it would not be in keeping with the “new tone” in Washington. People like Joe Lieberman and this woman are putting the country first by supporting McCain because they know that despite their political leanings putting a political climber with zero experience, in the White House, at a time like this would be grossly negligent.

Patricia   September 17th, 2008 2:33 am ET

McCain over Obama? Elitist?? Has she or McCain ever visited Castlemont High School, in Oakland, Calfiornia? Not Likely. This is my alma mater - a school over 60 years old - it looks, smells and is run like a prison. I bet Obama has probably visited a simialrly decrepit schoolin Chicago while serving as a community organizer. Obama is elitst? In whose world? The world McCain actually believes it'sokay to even think about stationing National Guard or regular army troops in certain communties - USA communities - to control (cage) crime??

I am almost beside myself with despair. We have no country of the people, by the people or for the people. We must revolt - stop buying things, drive less, travel overseas less (yes less) focus on improving our country, the USA, not Iraq, Afghanistan Pakistan or Iran - this country, the USA . We all live well together or we perish miserably together.

Palin is frighting. We need to keep aborting babies. We need higher taxes and no military anywhere. We need to realize we are the enemy and that Bush and Cheney blew up the twin towers and that Bush used secret weapons to send Katrina into New Orleans so the Democrats would leave the city and Lousiana would get its first Republican Governor. And we must fight voter IDs so that we can continue to allow everyone who wants to to vote, and vote and vote.
Isn't it that Palin who is so frightening!

McCain and Palin have demonstrated clear responsibility over policies, state government etc. I'm still waiting for a significant piece of legislation or anything that has showed Obama being responsible for something. I just can't trust him…

karvictho   September 17th, 2008 2:29 am ET

Lynn is clearly not a Democrat or she would be doing ask Hilary requested, and that's to support the party–which ultimately must win, regardless of who is running, if America is going to pull itself out of the crises created by the Republicans (the group which Lynn is now supporting.)

It's good she is gone if the only reason she helped was to get a special favor from Hilary, after Hilary won.

On a more general note, the election process has been great. It has given all of us, the entire world in fact, a chance to think about our morality–our basic way of acting and interacting in our society. Lynn and the other turncoats could do a bit more thinking about themselves, and what being a traitor means. And while on that subject, perhaps she will get around to asking Palin why she supports the Alaska Independence Party which wants Alaska to break away from the US, become independent, and take its oil/gas with it. Another moral question, for another day.

Nobody with any intelligence could vote for Obama with a clear conscience. He's probably the most unqualified person in the senate, much less as candidate for president. No doubt he is one of the most unqualified people in the national elected gov't. It's deeply troubling that America has lost its mind and 40% of the population say they would actually cast a vote for him. Just unbelievable what has happened to the US. One of the reasons McCain probably chose Palin is to show that her very limited experience (clearly not qualified for VP) is still much higher than Obama - and to showcase Obama for the ridiculous joke that he is. Brilliant strategy of exposing this fraud huckster.

ela   September 17th, 2008 2:19 am ET

Uh, Irony (post #1):

I think I can speak for most Alaskans — as an independent Alaskan myself, and one of the 80% or so of us who approve of her job performance here — that Sarah Palin is doing an excellent job of governing our state. She has helped bring much of the state GOP hierarchy down and has been doing much to bring us a natural gas pipeline, also.

You will notice from your own link that Alaska's unemployment rates almost perfectly mirror the national rates — and happen for a variety of reasons here, and under a variety of circumstances. If people here were personally blaming Palin for such figures, I doubt she'd be as popular here as she is…and she was that popular BEFORE McCain chose her as his VP, by the way.

Lynn Forester de Rothschild - cultured, wise and wealthy, yes - but unlike the Hollywood collective super wealthy phonies - see latest fundraiser of 29.500,- a plate = $ 9 Million in one evening - she's at least honest that she cannot support a person of mediocre intelligence, who was groomed his entire life by the dangerous radical Left. The media fails to inform the public, who this man from Chicago really is, and that he and is 'team' must not be in charge of the US.

Good move Lynn! A lot of Hillary supporters are going to vote for McCain. He's got the experience, he's a war hero, he crosses party lines to get things done. Funny how these Obama people keep trying to suggest that Obama has more experience than Palin, but they don't dare suggest that Obama is even close to McCain's experience. Even more funny is that Palin has far more experience as a Mayor, Governor and business owner than Obama could ever dream of.

Obama should have picked Hillary for VP….now he will pay the price for not picking her!

Hey Irony: has Obama ever created a job? or Signed significant Legislation? No.

Obama is a complete question mark on so many topics, and in consistent on key positions like Iraq….. great charisma, but "Hope" is not a strategy for a country..its emotional…we need hard hitters who have actully done something in National/Int'l government… Clinton was right in S.C., " this (obama) is the biggest fairytale I've ever seen…."

Americanguy   September 17th, 2008 2:04 am ET

Have any of you people looked at the state of affairs in California? Who runs California! And don't try to blame Bush for the mess California is in either. This is what you want for the whole country! Holy Jesus! For one second, in your brainwashed minds, explained to yourself what is happening in California, and even Michigan and whose is to blame before you spout off why we should elect more liberals!!!

McCain 08 / Palin 12

Rick S   September 17th, 2008 2:02 am ET

So the guy who doesn't own 7 houses is an elitist interesting you had me at de?

Anonymous   September 17th, 2008 2:02 am ET

Maybe she doesn't like the fact that he has made many questionable evaluations of the character of those who surround him.

Rezko, Kilpatrick, Ayres…

Not to mention he lied about taking public financing and voted for Bush's wire taps.

AnnForTheTruth   September 17th, 2008 2:02 am ET

No, the person is not thinking about Hillary Clinton the person or HRC policies. Forester is thinking about the fact that she is included in the 5 percent earning over $250,000 who taxes will be raised. Isn't that typical of greedy person, selfish and wants everything.

In Good Company   September 17th, 2008 2:02 am ET

A freaking Rothschild thinks Obama is an elitist? People act like he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

Montana)))))))))))))   September 17th, 2008 2:01 am ET

What a flake. Lynn Forester de Rotweiler (through her spokesperson ~ ha ha). And why does she even merit any press? Scram ~ you old money bag ~ you showed your true colors ~ I'm sure there are people "who don't like or trust you" ~ you can put lipstick on a pig………….

Steve   September 17th, 2008 2:01 am ET

That sissing sound we all hear is the steam escaping from the Obama balloon. Down, down, down it goes. Down to defeat!

Hiroyoshi Nishizawa   September 17th, 2008 2:01 am ET

They're starting to leave the sinking ship.

Big E   September 17th, 2008 2:01 am ET

You silly Libs, elitism has nothing to do with how much money you have, it has everything to do with your ideas and that YOU think YOU know what's better for everyone else.

You guys are seriously losing your minds, and I LOVE it. You guys threatened to move to Canada when Kerry lost the election and didn't follow through, but you better not make false promises again. Wait - I'm Canadian!! We already have enough of you Liberal losers here!!!

David   September 17th, 2008 2:00 am ET

Moron. Way to spit in the faces of everyone that *really* supports Hillary.

Brett   September 17th, 2008 2:00 am ET

You people need to come up with an origional idea…McSame, McBush, McPain…all been beat to death.

First off, there are hundreds of reasons NOT to vote for NObama. First, he has NO executive experience and last time I checked, Palin is not running for President, yet =)
Next, he has tons of skeletens in his closet (how did he get into Harvard? Look it up. A Muslum extremeist and a lawyer for the Black Panthers and MalcomX helped).
He was in Congress for less time than Palin was Gov.
He suggests "Change" yet picks a 36 year statue in Congress for a VP
Has NEVER done anything to help the country, never authored a singel bill, voted over 130 time PRESENT. He is worthless.

I don't blame her for leaving, she has a little sense…more than you idiots. You complain about Bush, but who has the lowest ratings? Bush, or your Democratic Congress???

tony   September 17th, 2008 2:00 am ET

I feel exactly the same way.. I supported Obama early on but his poor judgement in choosing a VP caused me to look at him more closely.. I to will be supporting McCain!!

no2bama   September 17th, 2008 1:56 am ET

Good! Another vote for McCain / Palin!

Trasa, Texas   September 17th, 2008 1:56 am ET

Elitist? Sounds like your the elitist with a husband called Sir Evelyn… Who cares, if that's how you feel, fine, but you don't need to announce it to the whole world, just wait until Nov 4 and vote for McBush. DNC needs to kick you off the team. Besides, most of America feels the same way about McCain, we don't trust him and he's the most elitist of them all.

Independent Just Decided to Vote for Obama   September 17th, 2008 1:56 am ET

So she is in effect endorsing the small-minded Sarah Palin.

What a super STAB in the back to Hillary Clinton!

Curliss   September 17th, 2008 1:55 am ET

What dont you hard core Obama or Hillary supporter get? John McCain is no Bush. He is his own man. The democrats controlled the house and senate for the last two years … they vetoed all sorts of housing and regulations for the financial sector. So, we are in the current mess because of them. Nothing at all to do with Bush. I supported Hillary because I got to know her and trust her. The same for McCain. Obama I dont trust and dont know. So, stop acting like children and vote for who you trust and know. Voting strictly party is a dying fade in the USA.

Go McCain / Palin! (former Hillary supporter)

polar bear   September 17th, 2008 1:55 am ET

you got it right, hypocrisy rules.

Pitiful. Rothschild was willing to go to the wall for Hillary, but not for what Hillary believes in. Guess she would rather see a President Palin than a President Clinton, or a Clinton in charge of health care.

Pitiful is right.

John K   September 17th, 2008 1:55 am ET

All the more reason for Obama to win. What convoluted thinking.

Tyree,LV   September 17th, 2008 1:54 am ET

Go To The GOP, Your Reason To Not Vote For Obama Is Because You Don't Like Him. She Clearly doesn't Care About The Economy Either Then.

Obama/Biden 08′

linda   September 17th, 2008 1:53 am ET

I agree with Lynn. I am also voting for McCain, and what a joy it will be to have Hillary in 2012. If Obama did not know that he was NOT in Denver, but that he was in Pueblo, how can we expect him to know how to run our country? Open your eyes and ears voters! Don;t be foolish to be taken in by his arrogance and nonsensical jargon.

Duncan Renaldo   September 17th, 2008 1:53 am ET

Hillary doesn't want Obama winning, this is no secret. The Clinton machine will be providing the McCain campaign with all kinds of help in the coming weeks.

bob in LA   September 17th, 2008 1:52 am ET

This woman obviously wasn't a real Clinton supporter or she supported he
