WASHINGTON (CNN) - Lynn Forester de Rothschild, a prominent Hillary Clinton supporter and member of the Democratic National Committee’s Platform Committee, will endorse John McCain for president on Wednesday, her spokesman tells CNN.

The announcement will take place at a news conference on Capitol Hill, just blocks away from the DNC headquarters. Forester will “campaign and help him through the election,” the spokesman said of her plans to help the Republican presidential nominee.

Forester was a major donor for Clinton earning her the title as a Hillraiser for helping to raise at least $100,000 for the New York Democratic senator’s failed presidential bid.

In an interview with CNN this summer, Forester did not hide her distaste for eventual Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

“This is a hard decision for me personally because frankly I don't like him,” she said of Obama in an interview with CNN’s Joe Johns. “I feel like he is an elitist. I feel like he has not given me reason to trust him.”

Forester is the CEO of EL Rothschild, a holding company with businesses around the world. She is married to international banker Sir Evelyn de Rothschild. Forester is a member of the DNC’s Democrats Abroad chapter and splits her time living in London and New York.

Her "elitist" comment is visbly phony. What's more elitist than bein a Rothschild? She's supporting McCain because his policies will make her even richer.

The sky is falling!!!! Next, we thing we know we'll elect a woman president and she'll be a Republican not a Democrat!

Sounds like she was a Republican in Democrat clothing all this time. And a rich one, too. Voting for Hillary just because she was a woman. To support Palin, after supporting Hillary, makes absolutely no sense. Two completely different policies and beliefs. Also, why do we care who she's voting for???

She "feels" things? Where are the FACTS and EVIDENCE to support any position she wants to take? Are we really reduced to reporting what [insert famous person] "feels"? Is that what people should be basing their votes on and what the "news" media should be serving everyone as though it's informational filet mignon?

Do you think Barak will give Poor Old Joe a couple of Bucks to help him pay for his train fare?

She needs to re-register as a republican and she needs to get a grip on REALITY. McCain-Palin is diametrically opposed to everything Hillary is for.
Ellitist such as this really belong with the likes of Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, George W Bush, and Newt Gingrich.

Good for Lynn! I think that the Democrats made a huge mistake and they will see in November. Lynn is just vocalizing in public what many Hillary supporters will do in the voting booths on Nov. 4. CNN actually reported something not pro-Obama...how interesting!!!

STOP with the Race Cards, it is no longer effective, Obama has abused it.

Obama is the WORST presidential candidate in history. No experience, no major accomplishments, no foreign policy experience, a big NOTHING. Part of Chicago corruption, terrorist friends, pathological liar.

How can you possibly trust this man?

Kudos to Ms Rothschild, for fighting the hype and standing firm as a Patriot.

    FIGHT FOR AMERICA. mcCain/Palin 2008

Frankly, it's a honest move. Her personality and life history are more aligned with McPalin than are with Obama/Biden (poorest senators in congress). She is none other than a gold digger that married a richer man 24 years her senior. and her best friend is Henry Kissinger, a very shrewd Republican of the olden days!

"When 67-year-old British banking scion Sir Evelyn Rothschild first set eyes on 44-year-old Lynn Forester at the 1998 Bilderberg conference—the matchmaker was none other than Henry Kissinger—she was already a woman of major means."

Obama is not an elitist. It is elitist to have the ability to give a candidate 100 thousand dollars. It is elitist to operate an international company which surely pads her pockets well. And she is married to knight? Come on.

Clinton and Obama agree on almost every issue and are quite different than McCain. There is no logical reason for anyone who supported Clinton not to support Obama. In fact recent speeches seem to indicate that Obama is willing to implement Clinton's health care plan, something I'm sure her supporters would appreciate. Rothchild is a Benedict Arnold hiding her true reasons for not supporting Obama.

As a true Hillary supporter, she should have done the one thing Hillary asked of her supporters and that was to vote for Obama. Hillary and Obama had the same thoughts on nearly every issue. Apparently she is looking for a personality contest.

Obama is an elitist, so she has chosen to go with seven-house, married-up McCain?

    September 16, 2008 11:37 pm at 11:37 pm |
  24. Carolline

She must be the ones that McCain will give tax credits to. She is looking out for her own pocket. Hence her reason "I do not like him,"

    SEE YA..

OBAMA /BIDEN will win this election.

It is always about who you can relate to ...... and obviously she relates better to 100 Million dollar McCain family with 9 houses......frankly I am glad she didn't like Obama. Obama's vision for future more relates to people that require public health care and basic economic support.
