WASHINGTON (CNN) - Lynn Forester de Rothschild, a prominent Hillary Clinton supporter and member of the Democratic National Committee’s Platform Committee, will endorse John McCain for president on Wednesday, her spokesman tells CNN.

The announcement will take place at a news conference on Capitol Hill, just blocks away from the DNC headquarters. Forester will “campaign and help him through the election,” the spokesman said of her plans to help the Republican presidential nominee.

Forester was a major donor for Clinton earning her the title as a Hillraiser for helping to raise at least $100,000 for the New York Democratic senator’s failed presidential bid.

In an interview with CNN this summer, Forester did not hide her distaste for eventual Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

“This is a hard decision for me personally because frankly I don't like him,” she said of Obama in an interview with CNN’s Joe Johns. “I feel like he is an elitist. I feel like he has not given me reason to trust him.”

Forester is the CEO of EL Rothschild, a holding company with businesses around the world. She is married to international banker Sir Evelyn de Rothschild. Forester is a member of the DNC’s Democrats Abroad chapter and splits her time living in London and New York.

Since when is being intelligent, having a good education, good vocabulary, and good taste a bad thing? Why do so many Americans insist on having someone who lacks in all these areas occupy the highest level of government?

I find it funny that somebody that is worth over $100 million (in 1989) calls somebody else an elitist. I doth think she fears the tax man cometh.

As a McCain supporter, I'm all for new people coming in and supporting the campaign. But in all honesty, a Rothschild, married to an international banking dynasty, calling Obama an elitist?! Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black.

How can you possible label Obama an elitist, coming from a person who lives in two countries. I guess you don't trust him since your the type of people he thinks should pay more taxes. You should be ashame of yourself.

If I had your money, I would be running to the GOP too. Most of the fat cats on Wall Street seem to shaking in thier shoes with the idea that this want be your rich daddys DNC anymore. Which by now most of them belong to the GOP anyway. We don't need your money anyway, I just have another $10 to Obama and I hope the other 2.5 million people like me will join.

Then Lynn Forester de Rothschild is not a supporter of Hillary Clinton. Period. No true supporter of Hillary Clinton would support McCain or Palin as they are diametrically opposed to what Hilary Clinton stands for.

A Clinton supporter voting for McCain would truly have to be blind to the realities out there. How many more have to die in Iraq? How about that none other than Pat Buchanan believes that, if McCain wins, we will find ourselves at war with Iran in McCain's first term? How many more civil liberties do we need to lose in the name of "homeland security"? How many Supreme Court justices do we want McCain to appoint?

The answer for me, to all of those questions, is "zero."

John McCain's first presidential-level decision was to choose Sarah Palin as his running mate and that shows his true colors. If Roe V. Wade is overturned due to McCain appointees, or their children go off to fight another war in Iran, or they find themselves on a no-fly list, I don't want to hear any of them whine about it. Any Clinton supporter who cannot see that he is not placing country first but John McCain first deserves the company they keep.

Wait. Billionaires Sir Evelyn de Rothschild and Lynn Forester de Rothschild .... call Obama an elitist? LOL!! Why, cuz he wouldn't grovel at their feet even though they're filthy rich? Glad they're backing McCain. Talk about an endorsement backfiring.

Where is Hillary in all of this? I know she is disappointed, but c'mon! She needs to get her head back in the game, take back the 18 million cracks in the ceiling that Palin continues to steal from her, and stop people like this from backing McSame. Any Dem who would vote for McLame is rediculous, because no matter how much you dislike Obama, his views are sooooo much more closer to Clinton's than McBush/Lipstick. It's not about Obama... it's about taking our country back from the neocon rightwing fundamentalist fanatics that have trashed every good aspect of our country.

Thank God. With a name and history like that, the elitist tag would stick to whomever she supports. No surprise she supports McCain and the Republicans.

I`m pretty sure anyone who can donate over $100,000 to a campaign doesn`t really care about the issues that regular people do. Considering she is one of the high income taxpayers who would be hit hardest under Obama`s tax plan (as opposed to being favoured under McCain`s) is anyone really shocked at this news. She calls Obama an elitist but it sounds like she is one to me......
