(CNN) - A new CNN poll of polls suggests that Barack Obama has a 7 point lead over John McCain in battle for New Jersey and its 15 electoral votes.
The CNN poll of polls is an average of the latest public opinion surveys. The latest New Jersey edition consists of a Quinnipiac University poll conducted September 10-14, a Monmouth University/Gannett survey taken September 11-14, and a Research 2000 poll conducted September 9-11.
Earlier: Obama, McCain tied nationally
When averaged together, 49 percent of likely New Jersey voters say Obama is their choice for president, with 42 percent backing McCain. Nine percent are undecided.

Vice President Al Gore won New Jersey by 16 points over then-Texas Governor George W. Bush in the 2000 election. Senator John Kerry defeated President George W. Bush in the Garden State by 7 points four years ago.
This time around, CNN currently considers New Jersey a state that leans towards Senator Obama. Neither campaign has spent a lot of time or money in New Jersey the past few months. Obama attended a few fundraisers in the state a few weeks ago, but hasn't actively campaigned there in months. John McCain hasn't attended an event in New Jersey since May.

Hey New Jersey! Get on board the McCain/Palin express! Don't get left behind! McCain/Palin will bring you prosperity and infuse honest government for the people. Barak will bring you false promises and higher taxes!
Great, wake up America. John doesn't care about us and isn't concerned about the economy. Why should he care, he's got gazillions and doesn't know how many homes he owns.
Also, he's been in office for 26 years. The only time he's shows concern is when he running for office again. He pretends he cares, Cindy Lou runs to Africa for photo opts, and John gets re-elected.
Wake up America.
GIVE 'EM HELL, BARRY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am soooooooo sick of polls. they change constantly. nothing to get worked over about.
For the life of me how anyone could believe anything Mcsenile and the pitbull says is beyond me.
YAHOO! Way to go Barack! Keep on chugging. Please stay POSITIVE -
Obama and Biden is the Clear choice in this Election But if You want another White House of Lies and Secretacy Mccain and Lying Palin is your Ticket HOw can Palin reformer Goverment if she Won't even Particpate in a Subpoena from the Court? Mccain and Palin the Liars We Don't Need in Our WHite House! Obama BIden 08 Donate to Obama and the Democratic Party!
Why talk about NJ here? Did you feel the need to talk about New Jersey for some reason? McCain leads in a bunch of states, and Obama leads in a bunch of states. Why is NJ all of the sudden in this ticker??? Why not pick another random state like Missouri where McCain has a 5 point lead, or like Iowa, where Obama is up by 10, or Pennsylvania, where Obama is up by 1, or Florida where McCain is up by 6. Why New Jersey????
Thank you NJ voters...... Come on FL voters.....let's put Obama up by 7 here. McCain/Palin is Bush number 44..... 41 was good.....43 was the worst president in history....44 will have us in a 3rd war within 6 months.
New York, and absolute must win state for dems. NY polls since summer, Obama up 23 points in May. Down to 18, down to 13, down to 8, down to a dismal 5 point lead in NEW YORK STATE YESTERDAY!!!!!!!
Biden goes out and answers questions about the economy on morning news shows today. McCain goes out and answers questions about the economy on morning news shows today. Where is Obama? Oh, he brought his teleprompter back out on the stump with him and he's hiding from the press. Interesting.
McCain has voted with Bush at least 90% of the time.
Obama has voted against Bush at least 90% of the time.
McCain makes an issue out of Obama not "going against" his party. Why should Obama do that? Its the Republican party and its' policies that are misguided. Obama has had little or no reason to vote against Democratic legislation.
Um, duh! Its Jersey....
Of course he has a lead in a far left state.
Obama is going to win NJ but a landslide.
Unbelievable how many still support McCain. US citizens so easily swallow the lies. Are people becoming cynical ? Why there is so little anger about the past years Republican policies.
Thanks New Jersey
Obama/Biden
you must be kidding me does it really matter this is new jersey
I want obama
All because McCain is an idiot and so is his girlfriend Palin. I wonder what she did for him during the 6 hours they spent together prior to him offering her the VP slot.
If we could only transplant some of them to Florida to dilute the Flori-duh factor.
Speaking of polls, my true blue state of NY has Mcain gaining on Obama. Obama had an 18point lead in June and now, a mere five point advantage as we speak. Yikes, the last time NY voted red was during Reagan. If I was in the Obama camp I would be seriously concerned here.
I womder why CNN always "cherry picks" the polls? Is it because they want to arrive at a particular conclusion. Check the Rasmussen and Zogby polls (both gold standard), one has it at 3 points and the other 5 points. If you want to get fair and balanced reporting, go to Fox news. The last ratings had Fox in 2nd place, CNN in 14th place and MSNBC in 27th place.
NO PLAN, NO CLUE, NO MCCAIN, NO PALIN
New Jersey Rocks!!!
Go Obama!!
Oh and by the way, the ads they play in Philly are heard by half of New Jersey, so he has not exactly ignored it.
Yep, NJ for OBAMA – All the Way
NJ who cares? hasnt that always been a blue state.. shouldent Obama be up by like a 20pts there...
