New Obama ad slams McCain on Pennsylvania jobs

Another new Obama ad hits McCain on jobs.
Another new Obama ad hits McCain on jobs.

(CNN) – Barack Obama’s campaign has released another negative ad that accuses John McCain of failing to protect American jobs – its second TV spot in the past few weeks aimed at working-class Pennsylvanians as the nation's economic crisis continues.

The tough new ad spotlights the closing of a Corning Glass factory in State College, accusing the Republican presidential nominee of being partly responsible for the loss of 1,100 jobs there four years ago.

“Corning shuts down its plant in Pennsylvania,” says the announcer in the 30-second spot. “Hundreds lose their jobs. Then the workers are rehired to disassemble the plant. And ship the equipment to China.

“Washington sold them out. With the help of people like John McCain. He supported tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas. And voted against cracking down on China for unfair trade practices. We can’t afford more of the same.”

'Revitalize' is the latest Obama ad to hit McCain on jobs. They released a spot several weeks ago that charged the Arizona senator with failing to protect U.S. motorcycle manufacturing jobs that hit the airwaves as he visited York, Pennsylvania, home of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle factory.

The campaign has also run radio and television ads that said the presumptive Republican nominee and his campaign manager Rick Davis were partly responsible for the potential loss of thousands of Ohio jobs, timed to coincide with his trip to the area where shipping giant DHL may make those cuts, and a similar ad about the auto industry when McCain visited Michigan.

The Obama campaign said the ad would air in Pennsylvania and in "key" states nationwide.

UPDATE: The Republican National Committee response pointed to Obama's spring loss to Hillary Clinton in the Pennsylvania primary. “Barack Obama has no record of reforming government and does not know how to fix the current crisis, so he’s going on the attack," said Republican National Committee spokesman Alex Conant. "Pennsylvanians rejected Obama’s name calling and false attacks this spring, and they’ll do it again this fall.”

There are some really tenuoius arguments out there, and getting crazier all the time:
Obama can't be worried about jobs because he is in LA doing a fundraiser.
Really? You really believe this. Amazing how blind some people are. Wake up already. Liar's party is taking us nowhere.

    To Ella:

    Let it go...

    To everyone else:

This may be an attack ad, but it is not SLIME like McCain has been throwing. Everything in Obama's commercial is true. You can google what he says in his commercial and actually corroborate what he is saying. McCain-not so much.

Hey Ella, wake up! He is not using the TAX PAYERS money for this campaign unlike McCain who is using 84 Million Dollars of OUR money! He raises money on his own...and there is nothing wrong with fund raisers...nobody is putting a gun to your head to donate! You people need to wake up to the reality that the GOP VEEP makes rape victims in her state BUY THEIR OWN Rape KITS! AND THAT IS 100% FACT, and can not be disputed by the McCain camp! Daddy Mac has done nothing for Veterans LIKE ME in 26 years in Washington...not one thing!

Wasn't Barack Obama about change and a new way to do politics? Didn't he beat Hillary Clinton over the head with that during their primaries [of course sliding negative comments in at the same time]? Seems to me that he is no different than any other politician. He just used the line to defeat Hillary Clinton and now that he is up against a man he is the same attack dog negative blusterer that every other politician is.

McShame/McSame should be ashame. China is building their wealth off of US Companies taking their business overseas and selling products made in China in our country. I was yesterday GM will be releasing cars in China which good but my concern is what about Detroit workers at GM. What will happen to those people? It's a ghost town in Detroit, people are losing their jobs, houses and their entire life savings. It's unfortunate that everytime you call into US companies (customer service) we get operators from oversees. I'm not begruding any of them but lets first put some money back into the American economy. . How can President Bush see our country economy in the condition it's in and gave 1 Billion dollars to Georgia ago? For the love of God Bush the US economy is bleeding and you are giving away 1Billion dollars to Georgia. How about throwing that money into New Orleans or Texas?

Obama keep focusing on the issues of high unemployment rates, loss of jobs, health insurance, seniors citizens concerns regarding high prescription payments, the wars, high gas and food prices, mortgage crisis, homelessness, faltering education, rising college expenses, and crime. Then lay out a plan for these topics.

Well, I guess if McCain is repsonsible for these job losses, he may really be partly responsible for the Blackberry phenomenon [of course, I thought the Blackberry came from Canada, but what do I know].

Nothing about McCain adds up. If he was a Veteran and a POW, then why does he not support a 21st century GI bill? If he loves and cares so deeply about our country and citizens, why will he not support regulation to keep jobs in America.

McCain isn't good for our country! Wake up, people!
