Obama just earned another $100 contribution from me today. It's about time we took it right to McCain/Palin. You can't go to a street fight using pillows, you need bigger sticks! "The fundamentals of the economy are strong" and "Troopergate" are 2 pretty big sticks to smack em' down with! Nowhere in Finance 101 or 201 did they say that the American worker was a "Fundamental" of the economic structure. I'm also pretty sure that firing an administrator who didn't fire your EX-brother in law because your sister went through a nasty divorce is an abuse of power in any state!

Obama is an elitist and a snob. He stated he believes Americans are "basically good people." Basically? What right does this guy have to say that about us? He has benefitted more from America than most people. He has been a product of Affirmative Action policies, using them to go to Ivy league schools. He is a guy who is a radical Socialist. He wants to punish people for being financially successful and re-distribute their wealth to individuals who have no incentive to work harder. He is the most liberal member of the Senate and people really need to take a close look at this guy's record (whatever small record he has that did not involve voting "present.") It is radical and nowhere near in line with what Mainstream America and Traditional America believe.

Politics is about fundraising. Are Celebrities different than any other human? No, they just make more money and supporting Obama means they are not selfish like the repubs are and are willing to pay their fare share and help the people who live paycheck to paycheck. McCain doesnt have to worry because his wife is a billionaire and she doesnt want her taxes to go up. Selfish! If McCain wins this thing, we are all in big trouble unless you are very wealthy. I have been watching and checking Factcheck.org and McCain and Palin have been caught in so many lies, its very scary. But why don't you take a look at yourself and your candidate. He is raising money for his campaign while your republican " I have 7 houses" candidate is using government money to finance his campaign run. Obama is not, he is raising money the old fashion way. Wow I just have no clue why Obama keeps talking about a struggling economy with all of his fundraising. Looks to me as if America is doing well if he truly is getting his money from Americans? What was it 66 million last month, yes I would have to say we have a strong economy for working folks to donate that much. And the celebrities with their drug and alcohol problems, he is providing "change" for them as well so they are spending less on narcotics to donate to him. I'm sure there will be a lot of comments made about how out-of-touch and how liberal the rich Hollywood types are. Granted many of them are. Many of them have never wanted for anything in their lives. But remember also that a lot of them came from humble beginnings before they were "somebody".
I make about 13 to 14 times what my dad did. And I have a wife who works and is in the same income bracket. But it took us years to get here and I remember very well what it was like growing up in very modest surroundings (one might even say poor). That background informs and guides my politics. I suspect it is the same for many of them.

Hollywood doesn't surprise me; they are all Socialists. I haven't been to a movie for many years; wouldn't give them one dime I worked for. If i am correct Obama and Biden are two of the poorest senators in the senate. I do not understand the comments of his elitism and his appearance as a celebrity. Obama only started making money after the democratic convention in 2004 when his books started to sell. Obama is being called a celebrity because people actually like him. The fundraiser was to raise money for his campaign to fund his race to office. I am sure McCain would do the same thing and I would have no problem with McCain doing it as well

I'm confused. Do people understand why Obama is raising funds? This money is financing his campaign, which includes advertisements, travel, support, etc. The money does not go into Obama's private checking account!

Obama is raising money from private sources and is not receiving campaign financing from the U.S. government (aka taxpayers). John McCain is receiving funds from the U.S. government (as well as other sources).

Why so much money? Because U.S. elections have become, in part, just one big marketing campaign. The final stretch of this election is focused on personality, negative attacks, and division.

Surely, Americans deserve better, but after looking at these comments, perhaps we are getting what we deserve.
