Palin calls Obama's economy attacks 'unfair'

Gov. Palin discussed the economy Wednesday in her second television interview with a major national media outlet.
Gov. Palin discussed the economy Wednesday in her second television interview with a major national media outlet.

(CNN) - Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin said Wednesday it was unfair of Barack Obama to attack John McCain after the Arizona senator said the fundamentals of the economy remain strong hours after a major investment bank filed for bankruptcy protection.

“Well, it was an unfair attack on the verbiage that Senator McCain chose to use because the fundamentals, as he was having to explain afterwards, he means our workforce, he means the ingenuity of the American people. And of course, that is strong and that is the foundation of our economy," Palin said in an interview with Fox News, her second sit-down with a reporter since being named to the Republican presidential ticket nearly three weeks ago.

“Certainly it is a mess though, the economy is a mess," Palin also said. "And there have been abuses on Wall Street and that adversely effects Main Street."

Less than 12 hours after the announcements banking giant Lehman Brothers went bankrupt and Merrill Lynch was being sold, John McCain told a Florida crowd, "People are frightened by these events - our economy, I think, still, the fundamentals of our economy are strong."

The Obama campaign immediately pounced on the comment. McCain said later in the day the strength he was referring to was that of the "American worker."

McCain, Obama & Biden are all part of the problem. They've been in Washington and done nothiong to ward off the economic crisis.

Sarah Palin is the only true outsider-the only true reformer-and the only one that knows anything about energy.

    Oh Lord,
That's not fair? Has anyone considered that Palin could actually SET BACK the women's movement in the presidency? Not because she wants to eliminate women's right to choose, and supports policies that would not benefit most women, but because, if she succeeds McCain, she is so clueless on foreign policy and gives gut emotional reactions like "It's not fair," rather than logical arguments, that she will run this country into the ground, and confirm the false belief that women should not be president. Palin is NOT the woman to represent our gender as the first female president of the US.

Maybe Obama should have thought about the problems Fanny and Freddie were facing, when he took more money from them than any other Senator in office. Maybe when he voted to give big oil huge tax bonuses out of tax payer money, he should have been more worried about the obscene profits they were making then, not just when he is running for office. Obama is in the pocket of big business, he just counts on his supporters being to uninformed to know it, they just listen to Oprah to find out how to vote.

She's avoiding a subpeona ? She thinks she's above the law and she's got something to hide.

I'm glad McCain told us the economy is strong,... I was confused, I thought it was a mess.

I was going to call McCain to thank him for letting us know the economy is strong, but I didn't know which house to call him at.

Because of the loan to AIG, we now have to see our debt. Gues who will buy it – China. Now China will own more of our country than Americans. The Republicans bankrupted our country because of a war that was based on lies and funded it by going into more debt than ever in the history of our country. I think it's time for some new leadership, not just more of the same. And if the uneducated, illiterate people would take the time to look at the issues and not make this a personality contest, we might have a chance at remaining a super power. If not, China and Russia will be the superpowers, not us.

Charlotte – You must be delusional and just plain stupid. I don’t now where you get your information from. You are a typical brain washed Republican sheep that follows the party no matter what because you and others like you can’t read and understand anything you read. That is if you read or do you just follow what you hear.

This is why Palin is no Hillary. Hillary would actually do some research to back up her point, rather than cry about it.

Palin, go home and hunt moose.

The Republicans are in denial and everyone knows it. We have a lightweight candidate for Vice President in Sarah Palin. Just admit it and we can have an honest debate. She makes Dan Quayle look good.

Also, she is refusing a subpeona...how did she get to be above the law? All you Republicans out there KNOW that if it was Bill or Hillary Clinton you would be outraged. Or at least feign outrage when it suits you.

    S,
Wow...Biased Fox news!! Why won't Biden go on it? Why won't Obama do a town hall meeting?

If you really believe in – Change we can believe in.....then why did Obama pick Biden? How much money did Obama take from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in campaign contributions? How is Obama going to create jobs? Fix the economy?

The Democrats have been in control for 2 years, things gotten better for you since then? Why haven't they prevented these problems and fixed the ones they promised to fix when they were voted in?

That's politics, Palin. Hate it or love it, you're in this game until November.

Of course Obama was going to attack that comment. What did you expect? McCain made the blunder when he said what he said.

...I'm pretty sure McCain didn't mean the workforce as the "fundamentals" of the economy at first...
