Palin calls Obama's economy attacks 'unfair'

Gov. Palin discussed the economy Wednesday in her second television interview with a major national media outlet.
Gov. Palin discussed the economy Wednesday in her second television interview with a major national media outlet.

(CNN) - Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin said Wednesday it was unfair of Barack Obama to attack John McCain after the Arizona senator said the fundamentals of the economy remain strong hours after a major investment bank filed for bankruptcy protection.

“Well, it was an unfair attack on the verbiage that Senator McCain chose to use because the fundamentals, as he was having to explain afterwards, he means our workforce, he means the ingenuity of the American people. And of course, that is strong and that is the foundation of our economy," Palin said in an interview with Fox News, her second sit-down with a reporter since being named to the Republican presidential ticket nearly three weeks ago.

“Certainly it is a mess though, the economy is a mess," Palin also said. "And there have been abuses on Wall Street and that adversely effects Main Street."

Less than 12 hours after the announcements banking giant Lehman Brothers went bankrupt and Merrill Lynch was being sold, John McCain told a Florida crowd, "People are frightened by these events - our economy, I think, still, the fundamentals of our economy are strong."

The Obama campaign immediately pounced on the comment. McCain said later in the day the strength he was referring to was that of the "American worker."

SHE GIVES SHAWN THE INTERVIEW NOT ONLY BECAUSE I'M SURE SHE KNEW WHAT THE QUESTIONS WERE BUT HE WAS NOT GOING TO BE HARD ON HER BEING THAT HE IS DIRTY REPUBLICAN JUST LIKE HER.

SOME ONE SHOULD ASKED HER A REAL QUESTION ABOUT THE ECONOMY TO SEE WHAT SHE REALLY KNOWS. QUESTIONS ABOUT WHY WE SHOULD BAIL OUT AIG? WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO US? HOW CAN WE GET OUT OF THIS...REAL QUESTIONS TO SEE IF SHE EVEN UNDERSTANDS WHAT SHE IS TALKING ABOUT.

Yep... after realizing how stupid he sounds.. McCain decided to amend what he's been saying for the last 6 months by adding.. "oh.. I meant the american worker is fundamentally sound".. but wait, the American worker is the one who's losing his job, his home, his healthcare...

So what's the next amendment to his retarded statement?

    To John Above
Get your facts straight: Obama never said he was giving a tax credit to 95% of tax payer, he said a tax cut. So if you pay zero taxes, than you are not affected. It is clear, McCain is appealing to the uninformed or worst. So you must be his target population.

She said verbage – It is not a word. If she meant verbiage it does pertain to what she was trying to say. Great....another one.

You can't have it both ways Sarah, you want to be treated fairly and equally, but what you really mean is we'll pick on you (the dems) and you just keep your mouth shut and leave us alone (the repugs). This is not a high school popularity contest, it is a serious decision on the rest of our lives here, and we can't afford to have someone like you whining everytime someone says they don't like what your boyfriend says. Grow up and if you can't do that, perhaps you should go back and get on your dude's snowmobile and ride off into the nearest snowy sunset.

Good Lord, this woman is a hypocrite and a liar . When she was hurling insults at her "opponent"...I guess it was fair.

Republicans have repeated the lies so much they actually believe them. Sad ...really sad.

EVERY SINGLE THING THAT HAPPENS IS FAIR GAME SO IN OTHER WORDS WATCH WHAT YOU SAY AND KNOW WHAT YOU ARE SAYING. THIS WOMAN IS A COMPLETE JOKE. THE INTERVIEW ON HANNITY AND COLMBS WAS A JOKE. HANNITY GOT HIS DAY OF FAME BY INTERVIEWING PALIN, BUT WE LEARNED NOTHING NEW ABOUT HER. SHE IS NOT AS TOUGH AS SHE PUTS HERSELF OUT THERE TO BE. EVERY ONE WHO INTERVIEWS HER MUST TAKE IT EASY WITH HER BECAUSE WE DON'T WANT HER TO LOOK STUPID. I BET YOU EVERY HIGH SCHOOL GIRL FEELS THAT RIGHT NOW THEY ARE QUALIFIED TO BE VP AT 16 AND 17 YEARS OLD BECAUSE THEY CAN GET UP THERE AND SAY THE SAME THING THAT PALIN SAYS. SHE IS GOING TO LOSE THIS ELECTION FOR MCCAIN.

Unfair???? Hardly. Come back to Alaska and face the music Sarah, if you have nothing to hide you'd cooperate with the investigation and clear your name instead of pulling a Bush tactic..stonewalling and claiming executive privelege You're a typical hypocryte republican

Not just Obama, everyone latched onto to the ridiculous statement that McCain made. We've heard him say the same thing at least a dozen times over the past couple of months, and now he's saying he meant that its the American worker that is fundamentally strong? We've been asking for more transparency in government, but his transparency wasn't what we had in mind.
