Palin calls Obama's economy attacks 'unfair'

Gov. Palin discussed the economy Wednesday in her second television interview with a major national media outlet.
Gov. Palin discussed the economy Wednesday in her second television interview with a major national media outlet.

(CNN) - Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin said Wednesday it was unfair of Barack Obama to attack John McCain after the Arizona senator said the fundamentals of the economy remain strong hours after a major investment bank filed for bankruptcy protection.

“Well, it was an unfair attack on the verbiage that Senator McCain chose to use because the fundamentals, as he was having to explain afterwards, he means our workforce, he means the ingenuity of the American people. And of course, that is strong and that is the foundation of our economy," Palin said in an interview with Fox News, her second sit-down with a reporter since being named to the Republican presidential ticket nearly three weeks ago.

“Certainly it is a mess though, the economy is a mess," Palin also said. "And there have been abuses on Wall Street and that adversely effects Main Street."

Less than 12 hours after the announcements banking giant Lehman Brothers went bankrupt and Merrill Lynch was being sold, John McCain told a Florida crowd, "People are frightened by these events - our economy, I think, still, the fundamentals of our economy are strong."

The Obama campaign immediately pounced on the comment. McCain said later in the day the strength he was referring to was that of the "American worker."

McCain made the fundamentals comment several times over a period of months. The American worker and business are the "foundation" of our economy, not the "fundamentals".

If he meant the "foundation" all along, he should have said "foundation" all those times. If he doesn't even understand what the term "fundamentals" means, then he knows even less about economics than I thought and he's definitely not qualified to be POTUS.

I am glad to see that after fighting regulation for two decades, McCain has finally come to realize he was wrong all along and that sensible regulation protects everyone – both those on Main Street and on Wall Street. Does that mean that the war over regulation is now over and we agree that the liberals were right?

Give me a break. He cannot take a brief vacation (once to spend time with her kids and second time to spend with her grandmother). Both
times, he conducted his campaign business, worked on his speeches, selected his VP etc.)
do you know how many times Bush goes to Camp Davis and other lovely places.
they are humans just like us to relax and refresh.

She really needs to grow up. Sarah, Mr Putin isn't going to seem very fair either.

Your sidekick was repeating something Herbert Hoover said during the Great Depression. Fair? No Mr McCain was downright stupid.

Stop whining. After this statement you have proven beyond a reasonable doubt that you are not cut out for VP or God forbid President.

    Palin is a liar.

She is now defying due process of law in the State of Alaska.

Seems like we have a criminally-inclined individual as a Republican Vice Presidential candidate. Kinda reminds me of Dick Cheney.

    NO Gov. Palin,

    I TELL YOU WHAT'S UNFAIR.....

WHAT'S UNFAIR IS YOUR CONSTANT LIES WHEN IT COMES TO "COOPERATING IN YOUR OWN INITIATED TROOPER INVESTIGATION"!!! NOW YOU WANT TO DERAIL, BLOCK AND DELAY THE FACTS OF YOUR OWN INVESTIGATION THAT YOU, YOURSELF, GOV. SARAH PALIN SAID YOU "WELCOMED THE INVESTIGATION AND WOULD COOPERATE FULLY"!!!!

SO I GUESS YOIU JUST HOPE THAT WE WOULD JUST VOTE FOR YOU ON NOV. 4TH BLINDLY?? DO YOU THINK WE ARE STUPID??

    HOW ABOUT THAT?

WHEN YOU COME CLEAN AND START "TELLING THE TRUTH", THEN MAYBE THE VOTERS WILL START VOTING FOR YOU RATHER THAN HAVING PITTY ON JOHN McCAIN BECAUSE HE CAN'T SEEM TO DRAW A CROWD WITHOUT YOU!!!

AND EVEN NOW.... YOUR FAVORABLE NUMBERS HAVE DROPPED BY 10%+ POINTS!!!! THAT SHOULD BE AN "AWAKENING OF ALL AWAKENING"...

"Give it a rest Obama. You are such a hypocrite claiming to rid DC of typical politicians but your actions show you ARE in fact a typical Washington politician"

First of all McCain has been a part of DC for DECADES.

Second of all "Clinton Supporter", try voting on a candidate based on POLICY!

What the heck is Palin talking about... Obama being "unfair" to McCain. I wonder what words she uses to describe her and Gramp McCain's repeated lies and distortions?

  17. Sam

If she thinks that speaking the truth while campaigning is "unfair," then maybe she shouldn't be running for VP. It's unfair when she continues to repeat the lie about the Bridge to Nowhere while stumping, it's unfair when she refuses to cooperate with an investigation that she had previously welcomed, and it's unfair when she claims that she has foreign policy experience because Russia is her next-door neighbor. She has no right to accuse Obama of being "unfair."

  19. Liars And More Liars

So because McCain lied, Sarah has to back up that lie, and all of his surrogates have to lie, and the lie keeps going on, and on, and on....

This folks will be a John McCain Administration.

    FOR THE RECORD:
John did not mean "people", when he talked about fundamentals, he meant the economy. He said "the fundamentals of the economy are still strong". Anything else is a lie.

So keep lying Sarah, and if you're going to work for John, get used to it.

Maybe John McCain needs Lieberman with him at all times. Joe can whisper in McCain's ear, "fundamentals NOT strong, NOT strong."

It could save John from having to "clarify" his remarks later and save Sarah from having to cry "not fair!" when her man is criticized for what he says.

Obama scares me more everyday, I do not think he can handle the huge task that is awaiting the next President. He had to take two vacations during the primary season. The problems of a campaign are nothing compared to securing the future of this country both domestically and abroad.
    --------

Your joking right???? He scares you because he took 2 vacations???
WOW, if you work, and I mean this with all sincerity, I hope you are bless with a job. But I would imagine that you have the ability to take a vaction too. He is not entitled to take a vaction? Hell, John McCain has been on Vacation for the last 8 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Republican "supporters" on here are just rediculous, your arguments, and I say that so very very losely, are absolutly asinine.
