Palin takes first impromptu question from national press

Gov. Palin campaigned in Nevada last weekend.

Gov. Palin campaigned in Nevada last weekend.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (CNN) - Sarah Palin took her first impromptu question from a reporter traveling with her campaign Wednesday while shaking hands at a restaurant called Karl's Inn of the Barristers in Cleveland.

A pool reporter from the national press corps asked Palin's reaction to the federal bailout of insurance giant AIG.

Palin said she is "disappointed that taxpayers are called upon to bailout another one."

"Certainly AIG, though, with the construction bonds that they're holding, and with the insurance that they are holding, very, very impactful to Americans," she said. "So you know, the shot that has been called by the feds, it's understandable but very, very disappointing that taxpayers are called upon for another one."

The reporter asked Palin if she had plans to come to the back of the campaign plane to chat with the reporters who cover her as she campaigns around the country.

"We're getting lonely back there," the reporter said.

"Are you getting lonely?," Palin answered. "Gee, yeah, come on up then!"

When Palin entered the restaurant with her husband Todd, she introduced herself to about 10 patrons as "Sarah," and told them, "Excuse me for interrupting your meal." It was Palin's first retail campaign stop since the day McCain tapped her as his running mate.

What an unexpected question!! And an unexpected answer!! Good work!!! Someone should have asked her what it would mean to taxpayers who are covered by AIG and would have lost it all. Get real, Palin.

That's bull****. The insurance would not have been impacted hardly at all. The concern was the world market would be heavily impacted and the feds didn't want that to happen. Pitbull is obviously trying to trashtalk her way until the elections are over. Nobody's buying it.

Mcsenile said yesterday that they should not bail them out, now they are for it.

She has answered more questions in 2 weeks than Uhbama or Biden has in two years. And, she never said UHHH or UMMM or insulted anyone. She was articulate, professional and hands down better than anyone on the left.

  6. No Palin

She is a joke. This is no time for on the job training. Step aside and let some intelligent people run things.

I'm glad that after nearly three weeks we finally get to hear something from her, even if it's a regurgitated,spoon-fed line. Unfortunately, what we need are concrete plans based on a solid understanding of what's going on, not more platitudinous populist tripe.

I see that little Sarah still has to hold John's hand.

McCain's lost – he's needs a retirement home – Not the White House.

Is "impactful" even a word? I guess all that college-hopping was detrimental in the end...

    Grandma for O
I just bought a big LCD TV instead of paying my bills, can I get a loan from you to pay them? No?!? Then why is the government loaning money to a company that was mismanaged? Do you really think the government will see that money again in 12 months? Maybe in 12 years...maybe.

Sarah, do you know how it came to be that AIG needs to be bailed out?

The lax oversight and regulation of these financial schemes let the greedy creeps go unchecked for the last eight years. It's your party and your partner that were responsible for that regulation and oversight during that time. Are you going to campaign against your party and your partner?

  13. Yes to Hilary, No to Sarah

Sarah Palin is no Hilary Clinton. Absolutely no comparision when it comes to substance and experience as leaders. The only they have in common is their gender. GOP is using Palin precisely because she is a female and because they believe those of us who supported Hilary big time will support anybody who is of our gender. No way!!! GOP's use of Palin is sexist and very insulting. We are still with Hilary who is now firmly behind Barak Obama. We refuse to be manipulated by the obviously demeaning, sexist tactics of the McCain campaign!!!

BK, Obama is at least able to answer questions and to write his own speeches. That's why her popularity is waning because she's an empty skirt. ARundle, if Obama or Biden refused interviews the Republicans would be all over the place complaining about being incompetent.

By November 5th she'll be a footnote, folks. Lets not get ahead of ourselves. Palin is like the slightly drunk relative you have to put up with at Thanksgiving. Just smile, nod and feel pity for her.

Methinks the lib feminists are jealous of Palin. She's a knock-out, she is very successful, has a supportive husband that isn't bad looking either....everything the lib feminists don't have. So they are jealous.

I just love her! "Hi, I'm Sarah, excuse me for interrupting your meal." This is a real person. This is a person with manners. This is a person who doesn't think way too much of herself. This is a typical American.

I'm just not sure why people are going nuts saying she's so inexperienced. She has more experience at the VP slot, then Obama has in Pres slot. It's a FACT!

Listen, we've let men run this country for sooo long. It's time a woman steps up to the plate. If you're scared of that proposition, just think of it like this......men have made a mess of this country, a woman can't possibly do worse! Let's give it a shot.

Maybe if she could go to Harvard, Columbia, or Princeton and prove she's smart I could consider her...cause listening to her scares me to no end should mccain (who isn't much smarter) should die.
