Just like in the 1960s and the dawn of the Civil Rights movement, we had to clean house and get rid of so-called Democrats/Dixiecrats who were against change then and who eventually became members of the modern day Republican Party. Change is upon us again and as a democracy, we have to do the same thing again.

People/Democrats who weren't for real change and who are now realizing how much they're really against it within their "own party" are now realizing how similar their views and opinions are like that of the Republican Party.

This house cleaning takes place every 30 to 40 years where we have to make sure that as a party we have to make sure that we have real democrats leading our party and our nation. Rarely do we see this reversal of political views of Republicans who eventual become Democrats.

I voted for Hillary in the primary (in a "swing state) and I'll be voting for John McCain in November. I'll be doing this since John McCain is a true patriot, a war hero, some one with character, someone who has ACTUALLY demonstrated bipartisan work. Since Obama does not have any of the above qualities, qualifications the choice is clear.

I have to agree with some of the people on the blog. This is America and we have our right to vote for whomever we choose. I'm definitely an Obama supporter. Do I know him well enough to say he is the right candidate, NO!! I just know from the past presidents holding office that were Republicans that they have only been out for the rich...period. It is sad, but the truth is Obama is getting viewed negatively because of his race. McCain also isn't a great speaker, and he will never appeal to those who need to be charmed into voting, but there is something about his service to and love for this country that is genuine in a way that Obama can never approach.

I am pro-choice, but only because I believe in state's rights and fear the consequences of overturning RvW. 4. He has no experience! We are in the middle of a war and an economic downfall, and he has no clue how to deal with either one! This isn't the time for inexperience.

I am a 35 year old married stay at home mom of 2 toddlers that lives in Canada and we watch CNN from 4pm until 11pm every night. I’m not an American, I don’t get to vote, why am I doing this? Because we are pulling for you America, the world is watching and all of us except a few bad guys want too see a brighter future for the US. Not one person in Canada fears a medical problem whether it be an ear infection or cancer because of what it costs or worries if it is or isn’t covered by insurance. If I had to be the mom I am in the US and have these worries I’d be scared everyday and that thought sickens me that a country as wonderful as the US puts parents through this. That one issue alone would make me vote for Obama. Oh and by the way we laughed in shock when McCain said Bureaucrats would come between you and your doctor under a Universal Health Plan at his convention. That is a lie.

Hillary and Obama were nearly identical on almost all issues. That someone who supported Hillary would turn around and vote for McCain, who is nearly the polar opposite of Obama, reeks of something, and I would wager there's a good deal of racism going on.

However, one is of course free to change one's mind. If she suddenly decided "Hey, now I support the exact opposite thing of what Hillary stood for", then that's her prerogative. The likelihood of that is questionable though, so I would wager she has more of a personal issue with Obama.

Besides, as Jon Stewart said, I don't want a president who is like me. I want one who is vastly superior to me in every way.

For me, the thought of Sarah Palin as vice president, and possibly president, is anathema to everything I believe in. If this pair get elected, it is the end of any gains that women have won over the past 50 years.

Barack Obama did have a fundraiser in California yesterday but Sarah Palin had one the night before at a Country Club- what is your point- guess what??? All of these candidates have money because you can't run for President without it- however Barack Obama and his wife worked their way up and earned their degrees and their money- McCain and his wife inherited/married into it- they are more old money snobbery/elitists than anyone. Guess I missed something in the translation: How is it that de Rothschild, with financial interests worldwide, gets to call Obama an "elitist?" Exactly the kind of spin that will hopefully sink the McCain illusion.

Lynn Forester de Rothschild seems to express the exact sentiment of many of the voting public. She wants to vote for who she "likes." This reminds me the many who decided in 2000 and 2004 to vote for the guy they could "have a beer with." Sure (though I find this hard to believe), back then people actually "liked" Bush and could relate to him. Perhaps he didn't intimidate them with attributes such as intelligence and knowledge on foreign affairs or the economy. And look at the results, 8 years of destroying our country.

Well here we are again in 2008 and people still want to vote for a candidate based on likability alone. Haven't we learned that this is not enough? Shouldn't we give the smart guy a chance this time? Obama has proven through his community service, ethics reform legislation in the senate and countless other votes in favor of the public good, that he actually cares about the American people. He doesn't just say he does and then does the opposite like McCain. Thanks to McCain presiding over the biggest deregulation movement in our government's history, our economy is crumbling. McCain doesn't care about the regular guy, he cares (as many elites do) about maintaining his staggering wealth and power. Shouldn't we let the good guys have a go at the white house this year?

What we are seeing here is the development of a new definition of the word 'elitist'. Instead of refering to the wealthy, artistocratic, "old money" members of society that feel that they are better than others simply by their birthright, 'elitist' now means anyone who is intelligent, highly educated, uses science to back up facts, and has complex strategies for addressing issues. Republicans don't like people like this, sine they want someone that they can have a beer with. The true 'elitists' don't like people like this either, because they make them feel stupid. For Obama it's particularly bad because he was born to a poor a single mom, exactly the type of person that real 'elitists' exclude from them social network.
