Prominent Clinton backer and Dem donor to endorse McCain

Lynn Forester de Rothschild was a strong supporter of Clinton's White House bid.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Lynn Forester de Rothschild, a prominent Hillary Clinton supporter and member of the Democratic National Committee’s Platform Committee, will endorse John McCain for president on Wednesday, her spokesman tells CNN.

The announcement will take place at a news conference on Capitol Hill, just blocks away from the DNC headquarters. Forester will “campaign and help him through the election,” the spokesman said of her plans to help the Republican presidential nominee.

Forester was a major donor for Clinton earning her the title as a Hillraiser for helping to raise at least $100,000 for the New York Democratic senator’s failed presidential bid.

In an interview with CNN this summer, Forester did not hide her distaste for eventual Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

“This is a hard decision for me personally because frankly I don't like him,” she said of Obama in an interview with CNN’s Joe Johns. “I feel like he is an elitist. I feel like he has not given me reason to trust him.”

Forester is the CEO of EL Rothschild, a holding company with businesses around the world. She is married to international banker Sir Evelyn de Rothschild. Forester is a member of the DNC’s Democrats Abroad chapter and splits her time living in London and New York.

IT'S VERY SIMPLE. IF YOU SUPPORT HILLARY CLINTON AND YOU WANT HER TO BE PRESIDENT IN 2012, THEN YOU NEED TO VOTE FOR MCCAIN IN 2008.

    HILLARY 2012

HA ha ha! A CEO who splits her time between NYC and London and is married to international banker "Sir" de Rothschild called Obama an elitist?

Apparently people who can raise $100,000 to give away are now the "salt of the earth".

Who cares? She lives abroad and has the nerve to call an American an elitist. She's no real Democrat. Go back to London.

She was a Hillary supporter, and Hillary is supporting Obama.
What she is saying now is that she dosen't trust Clinton's decision
of supporting Obama. What a flip flopper.
My question is..What is the McCain campaign promising her???

That is too rich, someone married to Sir Evelyn de Rothschild and splitting their time between London and New York calling Obama an elitist.

Can you say sour grapes people?

I think her quote sums it all up, "because frankly I don't like him". Which is fine if you just tell the truth but this elitist crap is ridiculous, especially coming from the likes of her.

What? Rothschild, splitting time living in London and New York, married to international banker, MAJOR fundraiser, donor for Democrats, labels Obama an ELITIST? Unbelievable. Do these people have a real world?

The lady who shuttles back and forth between London and New York thinks that the guy raised by a single parent is elitist? Ok, then.

A CEO of a holding company, married to someone that uses the title of 'Sir', is calling Obama an elitist? Zero credibility.

No one even knows who Lynn Forester de Rothschild is. It won't make any difference come election day.

All we hear from Obama is criticisim and negativity. We're all responsible for this economic crisis, we borrow too much and some of us don't pay our bills on time or at all. You can't blame any party for that because there's equal blame for all. But Obama would rather throw knives at the GOP and lump eveyone into that pile and call it G.W. Bush's fault. So good but no where's near the truth. Obama is raising more money than any candidate in history yet he calls himself a average guy. Yea right! I wish I were as average as him. I don't trust his liberal attitude and if we elect him an awful lot of morale values we all live by may be lost forever.

How does the CEO of a large worldwide corporation label someone else as "elitist"?

For her to say "frankly I don't like him" has some substance I guess. But if baffles me why someone so tied to the Democratic party can say the "like John McCain" after his series of lies in campaign against Obama. Obama is the one who has run the cleanest campaign, and she "doesn't like him". Doesn't speak well for her as a Democrat.

She is the CEO of a major holding company and she thinks Obama is elitist and not the man who married a trophy wife worth over $100 mil? That is what is wrong with this country right there. Incredibly stupid people.

    Let me get this straight.

McCain owns 9 houses and Obama comes from a single family home that used food stamps, and HE'S the elitist?!

    Only in America.

  23. Former Hillary supporter for Obama

Why can't Dems understand that if they ever want to see the White house they need to be together... not divided. In leu of what's been happening over the last 8 years and in the last few weeks, and seeing that McCane subscribes to those same policies/promises/rove talking points/negative campaigning that got Bush elected- you would think that in order for something new to begin change must happen. C'mon America do not do this to yourself again... wake up!

This woman , married to international banker Sir Evelyn de Rothschild ( the Rothschilds are in Europe what Rockefellers are in the us) , who is CEO a holding company with businesses around the world...this woman thinks a bi-racial man, raised by a single mom, who just finished paying his school debt is ELISTIST !!!
    Nice try !!
