WASHINGTON (CNN) - Lynn Forester de Rothschild, a prominent Hillary Clinton supporter and member of the Democratic National Committee’s Platform Committee, will endorse John McCain for president on Wednesday, her spokesman tells CNN.
The announcement will take place at a news conference on Capitol Hill, just blocks away from the DNC headquarters. Forester will “campaign and help him through the election,” the spokesman said of her plans to help the Republican presidential nominee.
Forester was a major donor for Clinton earning her the title as a Hillraiser for helping to raise at least $100,000 for the New York Democratic senator’s failed presidential bid.
In an interview with CNN this summer, Forester did not hide her distaste for eventual Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.
“This is a hard decision for me personally because frankly I don't like him,” she said of Obama in an interview with CNN’s Joe Johns. “I feel like he is an elitist. I feel like he has not given me reason to trust him.”
Forester is the CEO of EL Rothschild, a holding company with businesses around the world. She is married to international banker Sir Evelyn de Rothschild. Forester is a member of the DNC’s Democrats Abroad chapter and splits her time living in London and New York.

“I feel like he is an elitist. I feel like he has not given me reason to trust him.”
Can't trust Obama? ...and McCain and Palin are trustworthy? Give me a break.
Another story of a scary voter in the U.S.A by adding the phrase "and then [s]he voted." to the end.
"A wealthy person of the same gender was supporting her candidate. Her candidate lost. Another political party which has vastly different policy views posts another candidate of the same gender. The wealthy person makes a lame excuse and sides with the same gender...and then she voted."
She is a Rothchild who has international businesses and married to an international banker with the title of "Sir" who splits her time living in London and New York and she thinks Obama is an elitist? My God, how the difinitions must have changed.
She did what Obama never dose, went against her party!!!
I believe the lady does not even live in the United States so save your statement . Perhaps we should listen more to the cross over in this race , Susan Eisenhower , who actually has some real muscle in her opinion.
She did that because she doesn't TRUST him,and why should she,all he's ever done is BLUE SKY.
This is one of the problems with America. Candidates are supported merely because of whims or predjudices, rather than their competence, character, or understanding of the issues. Maybe this silly woman wants a chance to discuss chic couture with Cindy McCain.
A ROTHSCHILD CALLING A BLACK AMERICAN ELITIST?!!!!!!
Lady Rothschild should go to one of her chateaus and GET OUT of America's government. Shame on YOU, Lady Rothschild. Shame on your family name.
America in black and white!
She can pick to back who she wants. Just like we all pick who we want. She might see that the DNC ship is sinking and wants to ride into 2008 with a winner.
Good, because a lot of feel that way. Thank you for speaking up and sticking with what's right.
Breaking news from the irony files.
“I feel like he is an elitist. ”
Forester is the CEO of EL Rothschild, a holding company with businesses around the world. She is married to international banker Sir Evelyn de Rothschild. Forester ... and splits her time living in London and New York
It must be hard to speak around that silver spoon in her mouth.
She is one of those that will not say it out but the fact is she will not vote for a black man no matter his qualifications. This is the truth as to why the so call polls are so close. Most whites can not see a black man in the white house. America we need to grow up, we need to look outside of America and see the changes happening in the world. America is getting behind in almost everything.
Where did her candidate go to school? Oh yeah, the Naval Academy. That's like a public institution, right? Not very elite at all. And his father? Oh, yeah a Navy Admiral. Run of the mill. And his grandfather? Oh, also an Admiral. How plebian. Who is her candidate married to? A beer heiress? Well, what commomer doesn't like beer? So, she picks a guy for President who is from an elite institution, served in Vietnam, and married to an heiress of an American company. Hang on, that sounds familiar. She probably endorsed Kerry, too. Now, it makes sense.
She is supporting McCain because Obama probably violated the LOGAN ACT...
Check this out...it's another Obama denial - a completely incriminating denial
Quote:
"He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington," Zebari said in an interview, according to Taheri.
Quote:
But Obama's national security spokeswoman Wendy Morigi said Taheri's article bore "as much resemblance to the truth as a McCain campaign commercial."In fact, Obama had told the Iraqis that they should not rush through a "Strategic Framework Agreement" governing the future of US forces until after President George W. Bush leaves office, she said.
Maybe it's just my eyes, but how are these two statements ANY different?
As a Lifetime Democrat who came to the same conclusion, I feel validated!
McCain and Palin are the reformers we need in the Whitehouse!
McCain/Palin-08-In a Landslide Victory for all!
I AGREE TOTALLY WITH LYNN. I FEEL THAT OBAMA IS ARROGANT, ELISTIST, AND WOULD BE A WEAK LEADER. HE HAS FLIP-FLOPPED SEVERAL TIMES.
I HAVE BEEN A DEMOCRAT MY WHOLE LIFE BUT MY HILLARY VOTE WILL BE GOING TO THE MCCAIN / PALIN TICKET.
I ALSO FEEL THAT THE DEMOCRATS HAVE BEEN TOTALLY SEXIST TOWARDS WOMEN.
Racism is alive and well. The economy means nothing. She is NOT really a democrat and she knows it.
Pretty sure that the "elitist" label references Obama's (and every other liberal's) condescending "we're-so-much-smarter-and-morally-superior-to-you" attitude, not financial status. Duh.
Great news! It is about time someone saw the light and understands the questionable air surrounding Obama
She accurately sees Obama as an empty suit.
As Bill CLinton said, for those who think its all about "issues". Its about who you can trust. Positions on issues don't mean a thing if you do nto have confidence in the candidate. Obama is all talk.
I agree if Dems don't win this time and she feels that way. I agree
Hillary will never have her chance.
Really, an elitest? Her full title is LADY De Rothchild!!!! She married a British Knight that belongs to one of the most powerful banking families in the world! She lives in a 400 room villa outside of London, and she has the cahones to call Obama an elitist??? I wish I could choke her with a silver spoon...
Lest anybody think that an influential Democrat has jumped ship, let's make clear something that even Ms. Rothschild may have forgotten: There are two kinds of various DNC appointments — the kind that go to political influentials and the kind that go to people who come up with the big bucks.
That's right. Every time some Democratic staffer told Lynn Forester de Rothschild how much they cared about her opinion and advice, what they really cared about was her purse. What kills me is how many of these muckety-mucks actually believe that their advice is wanted.
It is the one thing about politics that no one admits and that every staffer knows: Tell them you care, kiss their ____, and take their money. Apparently, Senator Obama's staff didn't kiss it enough in this case.
Good riddance.
Of course Mr. Obama is an elitist. He's a constitutional scholar so that alone puts him into a category of intellectual elitism. What's wrong with that? Since millions of Americans lowered their political bar to the level of, "Is he someone I'd have a beer with?" in 2000, of course its hard to sell a young, energetic and intelligent candidate; it requires an acknowledgment that people need to grow up and get informed.
