Prominent Clinton backer and Dem donor to endorse McCain

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Lynn Forester de Rothschild, a prominent Hillary Clinton supporter and member of the Democratic National Committee’s Platform Committee, will endorse John McCain for president on Wednesday, her spokesman tells CNN.

The announcement will take place at a news conference on Capitol Hill, just blocks away from the DNC headquarters. Forester will “campaign and help him through the election,” the spokesman said of her plans to help the Republican presidential nominee.

Forester was a major donor for Clinton earning her the title as a Hillraiser for helping to raise at least $100,000 for the New York Democratic senator’s failed presidential bid.

In an interview with CNN this summer, Forester did not hide her distaste for eventual Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

“This is a hard decision for me personally because frankly I don't like him,” she said of Obama in an interview with CNN’s Joe Johns. “I feel like he is an elitist. I feel like he has not given me reason to trust him.”

Forester is the CEO of EL Rothschild, a holding company with businesses around the world. She is married to international banker Sir Evelyn de Rothschild. Forester is a member of the DNC’s Democrats Abroad chapter and splits her time living in London and New York.

Some of the post here seemed to suggest race is the reason for her backing McMooseallini. But I think it has to do with money. The candidate that's going to let her keep more of it, is who's she's going with. So we know what her priorities are. Who cares. She's irrelevant.

It's funny how this supposed "democrat" has little more to say than simply "I don't like him." Another shallow human being.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OBAMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA we will be in the White House. Good riddens we do not need someone like that on our team anyway. It is truly sad how these people will use any excuse to not vote for the person who is clearly ready and able to lead this country. If McCain and Palin get in office mark my words you will see people jumping off the nearest bridge because they just lost everything they have.

  11. White Mother for Obama!!

Typical upset Hillary supporter. Go to the other side and be a traitor.

Palin lied again at the stump yesterday saying Obamas tax cuts would hurt economy.

But experts says FACT it wouldnt. McCain is doing tax cuts across the board, but that isnt going to level it out, tax cuts everywhere would hurt worse than just tax cuts for those under $250,000 a year.

This is nothing more than gonadal politics. What a stupid way to exert ones influence.

Does she really think Sarah Palin is going to protect women's issues?

Surely, she doesn't believe we need her influence or money.
    Obama's & Biden's donors can raise $100K in 24 hours or less!!!

If folks would just honestly say they will not vote for this ticket because they have racial prejudices, that would at least be believable.
The 'true elitists' don't believe Brown-skinned or other people of color belong in positions of power, let alone the White House. Of course, the exception is the employee serving the White House meals!

I guess she feels threatened that her own house slaves (staff) may form a mutiny and revolt at the mansions in NY & London!!!
Ah, the lady doth protest too much–be quiet and go shopping at Harrods.
Obama & Biden are still gonna win! '08/'12

You know- McCain is SO FAR from ANYTHING Hillary stood for that her former supporters absolutely AMAZE me that they would stand for 4 more years of the destruction of our country in hopes Hillary would run again. I supported Mrs. Clinton too, HOWEVER, I am NOT going to see what was a country that was strong and prosperous under her husband's administration be completely ruined to the point where she will have nothing to govern. Thus I vote Obama... it is the only smart choice... and I think Mrs. Clinton would tell you the same thing...

Welcome Mrs. Rothschild. Now onto those of you who think she is a racist. Do you know here personally? Well then you shouldn't judge someone if you do not know them. Remeber what your mom taught you? If you do not have anything nice to say don't say it all. Remeber that. Remember this as well, this presidental race is about issues not other people supporting McCain or Obama. Wake up America.

Ah yes, so many even handed comments on here from the members of the party of inclusion.

So now the Dems have to devloved to calling anyone that won't vote for Barry a racist. Yeah, that's a good strategy to win over a lot of voters.
