Prominent Clinton backer and Dem donor to endorse McCain

Lynn Forester de Rothschild was a strong supporter of Clinton's White House bid.

Lynn Forester de Rothschild was a strong supporter of Clinton's White House bid.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Lynn Forester de Rothschild, a prominent Hillary Clinton supporter and member of the Democratic National Committee’s Platform Committee, will endorse John McCain for president on Wednesday, her spokesman tells CNN.

The announcement will take place at a news conference on Capitol Hill, just blocks away from the DNC headquarters. Forester will “campaign and help him through the election,” the spokesman said of her plans to help the Republican presidential nominee.

Forester was a major donor for Clinton earning her the title as a Hillraiser for helping to raise at least $100,000 for the New York Democratic senator’s failed presidential bid.

In an interview with CNN this summer, Forester did not hide her distaste for eventual Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

“This is a hard decision for me personally because frankly I don't like him,” she said of Obama in an interview with CNN’s Joe Johns. “I feel like he is an elitist. I feel like he has not given me reason to trust him.”

Forester is the CEO of EL Rothschild, a holding company with businesses around the world. She is married to international banker Sir Evelyn de Rothschild. Forester is a member of the DNC’s Democrats Abroad chapter and splits her time living in London and New York.

Well – money can't buy brains, can it? If she supported Hillary and doesn't like Obama, she should just step outside the political arena...don't support anyone. Supporting McCain is a slap in the fact to Clinton and I hope Hillary slaps her back...

I guess being lied to repeatedly is a criteria for her choice of president.

This is hilarious. As if we care what she thinks or does.

Here is what I don't get...

Do the Hillary "supporters" that switch to McCain solely out of spite and racism really think that us Obama supporters are going to vote Hillary in if she runs again? After all of this??? Do you really think Obama supporters are going to forget this and let Hillary take office anytime in the next 10 years? Get real people. Remember you need us Obama supporters to win an election. You'd better get to supporting Obama if you want Hillary to have a shot at even begin mayor of Wasilia. Get over it. Hillary lost. Period. Let's not have 4 more years of greedy satans and let them finish off everyone but the very rich and the very stupid.

The Rothchild family have no right to have an opinion. They've been reputed to be manipulating the world's wealth for more then 300 years, and historians suspect that they likely caused both the Napoleonic war, the downfall of the Czar and the War for Independence here [due to grudges or profit and control].

I've never heard of her, and agree that anyone involved in politics who can go from backing Clinton to McCain can only be doing so for one reason – they're racist. Her endorsement means nothing to me, nor will it to most people, so no need to even highlight it, CNN.

    She is a racist......Period.

What she meant to say is How dare he work hard, and graduate from an ivy league school. How dare he become a become a part of the Senate, How dare he run for president of the United States of America. Who does he think he is. He's a Nigg-you know the rest.

Lets be real people. It does not matter what Barack stands for, or what his policies are. There are lot of people who could never accept the thought of a Black President. Thats the world we live in. It's sad, but true.

She's not alone, Alma Sanford Chairman of the Democratic Party in TN is voting and supporting McCain now. There are millions of Democrats abandoning their party and voting for McCain and millions more of Democrats staying at home and NOT voting at all!

I have met her many times, before she married Rothschild. Definately a fast money crowd.

I think her comments on Obama are way out of line. And she should take a close look in the mirror herself.

Elitist??! De Rothschild calling Obama an elitist. That's the most stupidest thing I've ever heard. She's just too afraid to admit she's a RACIST! What a hypocrite and a liar.

How can Obama be an elitist? John McCain's net worth is more than Obama's also he wears $500.00 loafers and he owns 8 houses. Bill Clinton was a Rhode Scholar and I don't remember he being called an elitist. Obama fought and took a stand for the poor in Chicago by disposing the asbestos that were in the housing projects. Do you think an elitist would fight for the less fortunate? Do you think an elitist would have just recently paid off his or her college loan? Do you think an elitist would have the courage to say that he doesn't know all the answers and wants people in his cabinet who can challenge him? It's starting to look like theres an undercurrent of racism because the elitist label just doesn't stick.

OK, Obama raises $9 million after a fundraiser with many Hollywood stars, everyone's favorite American Babs Streisand (sarcasm heavily implied) performing, at $31,000 a seat.

    Who's the elitist?

"Lynn Forester de Rothschild"? Why, how very Thurston Howell the IIIrd!

Who the heck is this woman and why is this even news? I never heard of her while she was taking time out of sipping champagne and joking with "the help" to back Hillary, and I sure don't know who she is now. It's no surprise that she'll back McCain, though... she's probably one of that upper 1-percentile that his tax cuts will actually help.
