Prominent Clinton backer and Dem donor to endorse McCain

Lynn Forester de Rothschild was a strong supporter of Clinton's White House bid.
Lynn Forester de Rothschild was a strong supporter of Clinton's White House bid.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Lynn Forester de Rothschild, a prominent Hillary Clinton supporter and member of the Democratic National Committee’s Platform Committee, will endorse John McCain for president on Wednesday, her spokesman tells CNN.

The announcement will take place at a news conference on Capitol Hill, just blocks away from the DNC headquarters. Forester will “campaign and help him through the election,” the spokesman said of her plans to help the Republican presidential nominee.

Forester was a major donor for Clinton earning her the title as a Hillraiser for helping to raise at least $100,000 for the New York Democratic senator’s failed presidential bid.

In an interview with CNN this summer, Forester did not hide her distaste for eventual Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

“This is a hard decision for me personally because frankly I don't like him,” she said of Obama in an interview with CNN’s Joe Johns. “I feel like he is an elitist. I feel like he has not given me reason to trust him.”

Forester is the CEO of EL Rothschild, a holding company with businesses around the world. She is married to international banker Sir Evelyn de Rothschild. Forester is a member of the DNC’s Democrats Abroad chapter and splits her time living in London and New York.

Hmmm....a woman who married a Rothschild and who, if she lived in the U.S., would be increasingly taxed, calling Obama an elitist? Of course she doesn't trust him.

Come home and remember your roots, lady!

Funny how she sits there with her pearl studded outfit, millions in the bank, supporting the elitist party and then has the nerve to call other people elitist.

OK then, crazy loon. Why don't you give the real reason?

Just that picture alone makes her look like an elitist!

Lynn Forester de Rothschild calling Barack Obama an elitist? Is she on drugs? Compare her tax returns with Senator Obama's and we'll see who is the true elitist. Barack Obama was raised by a single mother, although he was not poor growing up. Instead of working at a big law firm (as head of Harvard's Law Review, he could have), he chose to work as a community organizer in Chicago, which pays peanuts if anything at all. Ms. Forester de Rothschild obviously is projecting her own elitism onto Sentor Obama. It's just sour grapes on her part. If she thinks John McCain will do better for woman than Senator Obama, she truly is on drugs.

This woman is calling Barack Obama an elitist? Are you kidding me? I think it's time for a reality check Evelyn.

  7. This soccer mom can whip your hockey mom any day!!!

Let me break this down to the simplest level possible for teh racially unaware in this country. Being African American, and having worked in the business sector for many years, there are certain terms that are used that are just code words for racism. Obama has stepped outside of his "place" according to some whites in this country. He is dominating a landscape that is normally reserved for rich white men. When people call him upiddy, elitist, arrogant, what they really want to say is "who does this n-word think he is". Mrs Rothchild would rather back a man who campaign ads are being proven to be consistantly false, and a woman who is now dodging an investigation that just last week she said she would cooperate with fully because she CLAIMED she has nothing to hide. She is free to back whomever she likes, but if you are going to give a reason, please make it something believable.

Let me get this straight. She is married to some pompous joker named Sir Evelyn de Rothschild and she splits her time between getting spa treatments in London and spa treatments in New York.... and Obama is an elitist? She is a member of the Democratic National Committee's Platform Committee who is going to work for the election of the Republican candidate....and Obama is the one who can't be trusted?

At first I thought, why is this news? Does anyone really care what this type of person does? Then, I realized that CNN was doing a public service by dragging her out of the swamp and exposing her to the light of day. Thanks.

The closer we get to the election the true colors of some ppl come out. I hear everyone call it "blue collar worker", "Elitist", "not like us". You are right.....us democrats should be way ahead with such an unpopular president. My question is....maybe the democratic party itself has some growing up to do. I will stay home

No lost here. She is just another bad apple – considering she will be in support of a LIAR. That tells you a lot about her.

I wonder about people who support McCain, knowing what they know about McCain and Palin, goodness and then being okay with it – who in the heck could stand behind liars – and feel that they might be worthy of a good cause.

As a Hispanic U.S. Marine and a dedicated Hillary supporter, I, too, will be voting for John McCain on November 4. Better to have a tested, trustworthy, experienced war hero as a president than someone like Barack Obama whose positions either we do not know or constantly shift. McCain 2008. Hillary 2012.

Too bad Ms DeRothschild is so rich she doesn't have to worry about the policies McCain will enact that are bad for regular women. Abortion illegal? Fly to Europe for the procedure! No more support for poor families? Who cares? I'm rich! What a shame. The ultimate in selfishness. If course, it makes sense that a person like this would be as politically immature as to defect to a campaign whose platform is diametrically opposed to the one she helped build. Apparently she's not only rich – she's shallow and stupid.

    Racism questin for you Dems:

If Obama won, would you give credit to the millions and millions of WHITE people who voted for him (and are going to)??
Or would we only hear about how 90% of BLACK people are (and will) vote for him?
How can you not see that the only people voting based on race are (fill in the blank).

When Mccain wins though, it's RACISM????

Simple facts prove it's not racism....but then again you Dems need SOME excuse other than the FACTS. Which is that Obama is in no way the best choice to lead our country in these rough times. The Sentimental Choice, but not the RIGHT choice.
