Prominent Clinton backer and Dem donor to endorse McCain

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Lynn Forester de Rothschild, a prominent Hillary Clinton supporter and member of the Democratic National Committee’s Platform Committee, will endorse John McCain for president on Wednesday, her spokesman tells CNN.

The announcement will take place at a news conference on Capitol Hill, just blocks away from the DNC headquarters. Forester will “campaign and help him through the election,” the spokesman said of her plans to help the Republican presidential nominee.

Forester was a major donor for Clinton earning her the title as a Hillraiser for helping to raise at least $100,000 for the New York Democratic senator’s failed presidential bid.

In an interview with CNN this summer, Forester did not hide her distaste for eventual Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

“This is a hard decision for me personally because frankly I don't like him,” she said of Obama in an interview with CNN’s Joe Johns. “I feel like he is an elitist. I feel like he has not given me reason to trust him.”

Forester is the CEO of EL Rothschild, a holding company with businesses around the world. She is married to international banker Sir Evelyn de Rothschild. Forester is a member of the DNC’s Democrats Abroad chapter and splits her time living in London and New York.

When you people say that you are a dissapointed democrat? the fact is, that you were never a democrat. Because if you were, you would be against the issues that Sarah P. Bring to the plate.
This lady, was never a real democrat, to me, she said words that did not have any substance to them, she didn't make very good reasons to not like Obama, but for the americans that are smart enough know why she doesn't like him? 1) He is Black 2) he is a man.
I hope colin Powell Endorses him, It would certainly over shallow this oxy m0ron. and For the people that are calling Obama a elist, because hollywood raised 11 million, Mccain, just had a fundraiser the other day.

Let me guess...she was counting on a Hillary win and her support for Hillary to be rewarded with an ambasadorship. Besides, having a black president of the usa could make things awkward for her in dealing with her servants.

What a waste of a story...We need to be talking the issues here. Not everyone will like the candidates. I don't like McCain but I don't get a story written about me. Please CNN stay on the issues. Obama/Biden 08!!!!!!!!!!

For the people who'd vote for McCain/Palin 2008.. then hope for a Hillary Clinton 2012 campaign.. you're a bunch of hypocrites.. The party's ideas, obviously Hillary supports the candidate that's running at this moment.

    Stop being soar losers.

Even though I am from India, I support Barak Obama as his policies are good for Americans and USA, rather than India or any other offshore countries.

Democrats here are like "she's not a real democrat." Did it ever occur to you that some people put country above a political party?? Just because you belong to a political party doesn't mean you're like everyone else in it.

Clearly we can all see that this has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with her disagreement with Obama's policies. She dislikes and distrusts him because he is BLACK!! If she were a true Democrat and a dedicated Hillary supporter, she'd see that Obama's policies and McCain's policies are on opposite ends of the spectrum.

What an idiot! Being rich doesn't make you intelligent.

I really don't understand the people who supported HRC. She LOSE that's it. This is like the kid who didn't get picked in the school yard game cries and takes his ball home and don't let anyone play. Come on give me a break if you was truly a Democrat you can not vote Republican.

As far as this woman she is out of touch like McCain. If Obama havn't gain her trust by now he's not going to. But going to the other party as if they are going to do anything for her is crazy just crazy.

Of course she is. She can see that Obama is a radical Muslim. He is a Manchurian Candidate. He is out to destroy this great country. Wake up America. He has even changed our great American flag. Just look at his Global Warming Plane. What the heck is that all about anyway? I love our flag!!!!

I don't believe what I'm reading or seeing. This woman calling Obama 'elitist'?. Let me get this straight: is elitist now a code word for 'upity negro'? Look at her and her pose. Pearls, black expensive outfit, millionaire and calling someone whose wife shops at Target elitist. Pls somebody hold me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She can go and put more lipstick on that pig or pitbull dog or weasel or whatever for all I care. This has just given me the appetite and desire to contribute more to Obama/Biden.

Great! She belongs with McCain campaign and Republican ticket anyway. She has not expressed why she dislikes Obama. So I guess she is supporting the McCain/Palin ticket because McCain picked a woman as his VP.

Who in the hell is she kidding with that elitist change against Obama when she is married to a guy named Sir Evelyn de Rothschild?!?!
