I think its more fair to say that she doesn't like him because he's an African-American. Lets call it what it is. Everyone reading the article can see thats what she's really trying to say, and many Americans feel the same way. They don't want an African-American as President.

It was ok when African-Americans were slaves and tending to the fields, producing crops, cooking in homes, and caring for kids. But no one wants an African-American as President of this country. Its a shame that racist views like this still exist today.

One smart lady.

Women WILL decide THIS election and all future ones.

We are not so easily deceived by a wolf in sheeps clothing.

Women are used to being lied to and tricked- we are used to being manipulated. We are GREAT at seeing it.

Don't piss down MY back and tell me its raining.

Oh.. and Roe v Wade? Not going anywhere. As Obamabots point out we had 8 years of REPUBLICAN RULE. Roe v Wade? Still here.

Yes, instead of headlining this story

"Prominent Clinton Backer and DNC Member endorses McCain"

it would have been much more to the point to say:

"Married-in Member of Historic Banking Dynasty endorses McCain!"

Rothschild, my God... the word is synonymous with filthy stinkin' rich.

Another woman for the liberal left to spit on and stomp on because she does not trust Obama? No wonder Hillary Clinton is not going to the Jewish event for Obama--she she is probably tired of the left and their hypocrisy. It doesn't take much for you liberals to trash another woman because she is doing the right thing! If Hillary does not do Obama"s bidding you will return to trashing her the way you did in the primaries.

Mrs. de Rothschild is not a Democrat. She is only "prominent" because she has lots of money. Frankly, I think she is wrong and I think that it is not news that some rich people will support McCain. I am a Democrat and I support our ticket. I also support Hillary. Hillary has moral values. I don't think Mrs. de Rothschild has moral values.

To Del Sol,

Are you serious? You actually think that Obama has shifted positions on issues more than McCain? You can't be that ignorant can you? This is what scares me...this election is decided by uninformed idiots that vote for someone, because they were a "war hero," rather than on how they would actually run this country.

You know, I need to switch doctors. I think I'm going to pick the doctor that was in Vietnam. I don't care that he didn't go to medical school, or that he's had numerous malpractice suits. He's my doctor because darn it, he's a war hero!

I am not saying I am voting for McCain, but there ARE a lot of disappointed people out there. Obama did not unite the party, how is he going to unite the country? The Sarah Palin pick is a double edged sword, because she 1) appeals to certain women 2) aggravates other women and reminds them Barack didn't pick our role model
3) highlights his thin resume by shining the light on her thin resume.
McCain was not exactly toeing the Bush line with this pick, he is doing whatever it takes to win, and it shows grit and resolve folks, unlike Obama who is playing it safe all the time by listening to to many advisors. People are going to vote for the top of the ticket and for the above reasons, perception is keen.

As I was reading your article, I was looking for her reasoning since maybe she sees something I don't (I'm looking at a war that shouldn't have been waged taking the lives of our men and women each day and sinking our economy--something McCain promises to continue). And then I found it. It's simply because she doesn't like Obama. Wow, I wish I felt that like I could cast my vote based on something that selfish, but she does have the luxury of living in London when things fall apart should McCain win.

Sore loser is pretty much all her endorsement amounts to.

the people that are voting for McCain will get what they deserve if he is elected - watch folks, see what happens

It's a hard decision because she doesn't like him (Obama)? It sounds like it is a decision based purely on the fact that she doesn't like him. If she was supporting Hillary because of her policies or because of women's issues, she could not, would not vote for McCain. Sitting this one out would make more sense for a "true Hillary supporter"

PRIDE! Yes, Pride goeth before the fall...... we see it over and over.

Obama was top of the world, a heartbeat away from the Presidency.
What happened? He thought he could do it on his own thin resume, and refused to pick HILLARY for VP.

Now he will find himself at the bottom of the world.. back to first year
rookie Senator without all the perks---- instead of Commander in Chief. That's what PRIDE does.

And Streisand's 90 million event won't buy him the position. We vote for the person, not the hoopla.

The Clintons are rattle snakes disguised as geckos. Hillary and Bill are doing much back biting in this campaign. They can not stand to loose. This just demonstrate that the Clintons are not who people thought they were. Even if Obama loose, I will never vote for a Clinton ever again. Too much has happened. How in the hell can a man with Obama’s background be considered an elitist? His background demonstrates that America is full of opportunity. These Republicans will stoop to any level to bash a democrat. It is, however, unfortunate that some people can not see past color. It's going to take a major catastrophe for some of these so-called supreme being to unite with people of color. Otherwise, oppressed views will forever run this nation.

I had to laugh a little at her vogue pose. She could easily be viewed as every bit elitist as she would claim Obama to be. But since I don't know her, I can't really say.

Perhaps she saw how incredibly easy it was for Palin to achieve her 15 minutes of fame that she thought she'd give a try?

Obama is not elitist. If anyone takes the time to delve more into his life, his experiences, and how those experiences come to shape his perspective, they will know he is anything but elitist.

It is truly curious as to why he gets called this. I have to wonder if it is based on some kind of prejudice; is he called elitist because there are those who think he should "keep his place." Do they resent his confidence?

Anyone can say something loud enough and long enough, and whether or not it holds merit, there will be those who are all too willing to believe what someone else tells them is so.

Well she is a super rich white woman, I think she is in the wrong party to start with, she'd be more at home with the greedy old party and people of her own "tint". But Obama elitist? If he were white and pulled himself up by his own bootstraps like he has, I bet she'd be right on board. but since he's not of the right "shade", she "doesn't like him"
Uhhuh... Its very clear where she's coming from.

I see someone here referred to Palin as a 'lightweight ninny'. To this fine example person, and others who may share this opinion, this 'lightweight ninny' has more life experience, more business experience, and more executive level government experience than Obama could even dream of. Granted, she's not it the pockets of liberal special interest groups, spent most of her time as governor dreaming about being VP, or had Oprah clamoring all over her, but the fact is that the Republican candidate for VICE PRESIDENT has more experience and is better qualified than the Democrat candidate for PRESIDENT. Even people within your own party see that.

Ok... Her last name is Rothschild. She's rich, but she thinks Obama is an elitist. Yet, he was raised by a single mother and worked his way up. She's rich, and lives in NY & London. Again, her last name is Rothschild... But according to her, he's an elitist? Isn't that the pot calling the kettle, "BLACK?"

Wait... I think I've found the real reason.

Nevermind that every financial crisis, depression and recession was created by the Republicans since the early 1900's. That includes the current one. Lets back McCane who by his own admission knows nothing about the economy or even a computer. Four more years of failed Republican policies is what McCain will bring. So let your racist attitude steer your vote and tough for the country. Typical of the rich.

KEL - "If she was a REAL Democrat she would support Obama but it seems that she is not. I wonder if Obama being black has anything to do with it? LOL"

Hmmm...so anyone who chooses to NOT vote for Obama is now a racist? Wow. Maybe both parties are starting to do what they should have done long ago...start supporting future leaders on their qualifications, instead of their party affiliations. Now there's an idea.

Let's not forget, we're trying to elect the next American President, the most powerful person on the planet, not president of the student council at your local high school. No one will ever agree with a presidential candidate on 100% of the issues, but in a world with powerful countries like China, Russia and Iran, who do you want protecting us? I've only voted Republican once in my life, this year will be the second time.

P.S. For all of you complaining about CNN covering this story, if you are looking for Pro-Obama/Anti-McCain news go to Yahoo or MSNBC. You are on the wrong site, CNN is attempting to be balanced here.

I think it is mighty funny that so many repubs have something to say about this article...but yesterday on the article about the former Sec of State saying McCain was wrong on his stance on Georgia, you could hear a pin drop! Some of you don't have the good sense that God gave you!

So, I say to those like this woman...let the door hit you where the good Lord split you! Peace!

It is understandable that a more centrist Liberal Hillary supporter will decide to endorse John McCain.

Barack Obama is a far left Liberal that was nominated under that platform and after defeating Hillary he has pretended to be a centrist in efforts to appeal to those that did not support him during the primaries. Obama is now wearing the Democratic Party suite but if elected he will strip from it and return to being the Leftist that he is.

I wish that more people will wise up to the mistakes that Howard Dean and others made by hijacking the presidential nomination to the far left.

Just like in the 1960s and the dawn of the Civil Rights movement, we had to clean house and get rid of so-called Democrats/Dixiecrats who were against change then and who eventually became members of the modern day Republican Party. Change is upon us again and as a democracy, we have to do the same thing again.

People/Democrats who weren't for real change and who are now realizing how much they're really against it within their "own party" are now realizing how similar their views and opinions are like that of the Republican Party.

This house cleaning takes place every 30 to 40 years where we have to make sure that as a party we have to make sure that we have real democrats leading our party and our nation. Rarely do we see this reversal of political views of Republicans who eventual become Democrats.

This isn't something new, but something we should expect and acknowledge. Change is not merely a word but an action that some will embrace while others will refute and reject. It's that simple.

Another Clinton turncoat who doesn't get her way. Go figure. If ever there was a candidate for the sterilization of idiots, it would definitely be this stupid woman. Lynn, you're a moron. I wonder if she's still in the good graces of the Clintons if she helps McCain win?

The press needs to stop taking the bait on these releases. This is a non-issue yet it gets a top spot on the headlines. This is a useless person. If she was a strong Hillary supporter, there is NOTHING in the McCain-Palin ticket that would match her policies or view.

This jet-setting person calling Obama an elitist is not worth the space she has received. Please news media, stop covering these diversionary things....You are playing into the hands of a campaign that openly hates you for daring to question.

Obamabots mistakenly believe "elitism" is confined to wealth.
Obama's arrogance is a turnoff to many voters and NO - "uppity" has never been confined to the color of ones skin.
But Obamabots continue playing that Race Card....

Good to have the salt of the earth Rothschilds, real common, blue-collar working folk, as lookouts for elitist politicians. What's next? Ken Lay excoriating Congress for being greedy? Bill Gates accusing the Senate of being a bunch of geeks? Maybe Paris Hilton can ream out the Supreme Court for being vapid.

Pot, meet kettle.

Well, I have a question for all you who say you don't know Obama or don't know what he stands for. At this point, do you know what McCain stands for? More to the point, are you really thinking about this country?

McCain's policies are troubling to those who aren't making 5 million a year. He supported bailing out Bear Sterns, but said those that were about to lose their homes that they were SOL (sh!t outta luck). Now he suddenly is against helping out AIG? Maybe they didn't give enough to his campaign. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Not to mention that if you are really against Obama due to experience, Pallin has even less, no matter what you think about an 18 month govenor. She has barely left the state, and Alaska is more an island off on it's on that a template for the average American lifestyle. She scares me more than McCain does.

And so the exodus away from Obama begin ........at last.

Barack Obama and all Americans should heed the words of Oscar Wilde - "You can't build a reputation on what you are going to do."

John McCain has served this country with distinction; he is loyal; he is honest; he is strong in the face of he enemy; he will protect us and our families; and he will work with both sides of the aisle on the pressing agenda items of our day. This man will likley run a single term, and as God is my witness I believe he will do absolutley the best for our country without regard to race, gender, or politics.

Of all the candidates that have come and gone, I would say he is one of the few I wouldn't care if I met personally. However, I vote for the person I think would be the best president at the current time and the one who's views are most like mine. Of the two left, Obama is the one I currently feel would be the best choice. And, yes, I did vote for Clinton. When she left the race, I looked at who was left and then made my choice. I have also consistently voted for McCain as my Senator.
