Haven't we just spent eight long years dealing with the negatives that have come from having a "Maverick" running around using his "Cowboy Diplomacy" to alienate all of our allies and harsh partisan politics to divide and concur at home? Do we really want to continue that?

To some of us the term "Maverick" means uncooperative, self-serving, and irresponsible when used to describe a person. At this point we need someone that will foster cooperation and unity. If these "Patriots" truly believe that America is the greatest country in the world, then they should be prepared to work within the greatest political system in the world to resolve its problems. Circumventing the Constitution and Bill of Rights and ignoring the will of the people at every turn (as you might expect a "Maverick" to do) does not demonstrate a proper understanding of or respect for the balanced structure of our government.

The questions at the Town Hall had to be planted, neither of them were challenged in any way. Did you notice she said "try to stump me on foreign policy", then the subject was dropped. There was nothing informative about the Town Hall meeting last night. These two are a Circus Act at best. You failed to mention in this same town hall meeting Palin told the audience they could ask her any question they wanted including if they liked to quiz her on foreign policy issues. When a voter immediately asked Palin what her foreign policy qualifications were she stumbled and could not (would not) answer. McCain immediately jumped in and interrupted with some stupid comment about the Alaskan National Guard.

Um, how many times does it need to be explained that it will take, at the least, one year plus to get any oil from offshore drilling. Then the oil companies can sell that oil to anyone, and guess who that is? China and India. At best, we'd see about 2 days worth of oil supply in about 4 years. Not to mention all the instant, horrific enviornmental damage done. The money and time spent on such fruitless endeavors could be spent transitioning all the rustbelt factories to electric car production, and we could finally start leading the world in bold ideas again. Gas was forced to upwards of $4 a gallon when the price of oil reached almost $150 a barrel. It doesn;t get much press, but oil has dropped 1/3 down to around $100 a barrel. Gas prices still hover around $4 a gallon. Drilling for more is not the problem, people.

Well people I have reviewed Sara Palin's qualifications for being President or a breath away from this position. I just realized I am more qualified than she is and didn't get a mention.

I find it funny that she still avoided the foreign policy question an audience member asked her. Fox News reported that the Grand Rapids "town hall" meeting was a "preticketed" event. Apparently, Kent County GOP gave out 2000 tickets and the remaining 1500 were distributed by the GOP in Kalamazoo and Ottowa. This was not a “public” gathering at all – it was a staged town hall. Palin can't even hit a beach ball slow pitched to her underhanded. She did not answer the question in regards to experience. This is not about her, however. Sen. McCain, who has been forced to provide almost daily retractions or clarifications of his position on the economy, has demonstrated he has no judgment in his selection of a potential successor.

If you spend 3 years as a brilliant community organizer, become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law Professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs Committees, you don't have any real leadership experience.

However, if your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you're qualified to become the country's second highest ranking executive and next in line behind a man in his eighth decade of life.

But the reason we are running out is that we are burning it up as fuel.
That is really the most stupid use for it that can be imagined.
The problem we have is not energy–we have multiple sources of energy that we cannot exhaust.
The problem is using oil for fuel and burning it up.
Drilling now for all the earth's remaining reserves just to burn it up will break our addiction to oil alright, but deny future generations of the many useful products that they could have used if we had not burned up the source.

The problem with opening up more land (or coastal shelf) for oil exploration it that it won't provide any immediate increase in supply, and once oil is found and exploited, it will not account for more than a few percent of total production. That is, it will not affect the price of oil.

ANWR drilling, offshore drilling, &c., are just another "economic" gimmick, just like The Summer Gas Tax Holiday. They sound good to people who don't pay attention or lack understanding of economics, but the result is no improvement to the economy and delaying the implementation of real policies.

Gov Palin simply pledge (institute law) that will not allow exporting ANWAR oil to Canada, Mexico, Japan, and South Korea. If all this oil is solely for US use and not allow the oil companies to sell on the open market for excess profit most of the American people will benefit.

One clip showed McCain screaming drill here drill now and the other just a few weeks before John McCain telling the public drilling off shore would not help with the soaring prices of oil and gas.

These comedy shows are the only way Ameicans will ever get to see the truth on these important issues as the main stream medias won't publish. Shame on them.

No American should have an issue with drilling on land already leased for the purpose of drilling. Why don't you start there and then see where things go. It makes no sense to me to suddenly make a mssive amount of new locations available for drilling because it will lead to a cadre of new facilities built only to maintain the status quo on our oil dependence. We need to move forward into new technologies if we are to excell in the future. New technology is what will bring countless new jobs to American shores.

IMO, that's not a good thing because we would never know what they were going to do if they do happen to win this election (perish the thought). Even if they choose a position I disagree with them on (in this case its Sarah's position – drilling is a good idea in offshore areas, but they need to keep ANWR off the table) I would rather them do that than to continue to agree to disagree. Atleast that way I would have some idea as to what to expect from them if we do happen to get stuck with them the next 4 years (scary thought).

I wouldn't expect a President and VP to agree on everything, but this makes me wonder about the gulf between their environmental values.

Maybe if Palin got out and saw the rest of the world she'd realize that ANWR isn't so vast in the grand scheme of things.

Maybe if McCain chose his VP candidate based on a real ability to carry on a McCain administration if he became incapacitated instead of appeasing Rush Limbaugh, he wouldn't be sharing his ticket with someone with whom he so fundamentally disagrees.

Oh my, they're already disagreeing on stuff. $5 says McCain is wishing he would of done a "real" background check. Or maybe he just ask for a refund from the people who supposedly checked her out. Chances are that company's already gone out of business too.

What a dynamic team! I find it amazing that, with all the left-sided smears, Palin is unfazed–even after leaving her "safe" state of Alaska where she had 80% approval rate after being Governor for 2 years. It must be a culture shock, but she is more than up to the task! This Lady is NO whiner! I will take her and McCain in dealing with America's enemies any day.
