Obama's Limbaugh ad causes stir

Limbaugh says an Obama ad is 'stoking racism.'

(CNN) - A Republican congressman and supporter of John McCain called a Spanish television ad from the Obama campaign "offensive and dishonest" Thursday, and said the Democratic nominee owes the Latino community an apology.

"It is offensive and dishonest for Barack Obama to lie about John McCain's record on immigration and years of support for the Hispanic community, when it was Barack Obama himself who voted for 'poison pill' amendments that killed the effort at immigration reform. Instead of making false ads with baseless attacks, Barack Obama should be apologizing to the Latino community," Rep. Lincoln Diaz-Balart said in statement released by the McCain campaign.

The Spanish-language ad, launched earlier this week, aims to connect McCain to Republicans who have staked out staunch anti-illegal immigration stances - including talk radio host Rush Limbaugh.

"They want us to forget the insults we've put up with, the intolerance," the television ad's narrator says in Spanish as an image of Limbaugh is quoted saying, "Mexicans are stupid and unqualified" and "Shut your mouth or get out."

"They made us feel marginalized in a country we love so much," the narrator continues. "John McCain and his Republican friends have two faces. One that says lies just to get our vote and another, even worse, that continues the failed policies of George Bush that put special interests ahead of working families."

But McCain has repeatedly disagreed with his party's base on the issue of immigration and was a chief sponsor of an immigration reform bill last year that deeply angered conservatives and nearly sunk his campaign for the presidency. The Arizona senator is also no favorite of Limbaugh, particularly for seeming to take a moderate stance on illegal immigration. But critics note McCain shifted his own policy on immigration as the Republican presidential primary race heated up, advocating a "security first" approach.

Limbaugh also took issue with the ad, telling the Politico it had taken his past statements - one of which is 15 years old - out of context and was an attempt at "race baiting."

"Obama is now stoking racism in the country," Limbaugh said. "Obama is a disgrace - he wants the public to think he is Mr. Nice Guy while his thugs are in Alaska looking for dirt on Palin and he runs race-baiting ads and lies about what he has done and what McCain has done."

******************************************************************************* I guess it works best for them if they keep repeating this falsehood about Obama having people in Alaska, that way the Residents of Alaska will be a little confused at who the thugs are actually working for. The "thugs" are the plane load of lawyers that the McCain campaign and the RNC sent to finish the job of vetting Sarah Palin. The rest of the 'thugs' are their to intimidate any press that are trying to find out who Sarah Palin really is and to pit neighbor against neighbor as they put Big City tactics into Stonewalling the investigation that Sarah Palin had promised to remain transparant and to cooporate fully with.

....unfortunately the media pushes white, black....we do not hear minority issues....the world is not one color....it is the 10 finger human being and we are all colors. Rush Limbaugh hides behind his veiled radio show of racism.

Just today Limbaugh referred to Obama as "Mr. Community Activist". Now who is race baiting.

As for the ad, it is on target with the McCain's slate as defined at the Republican Convention. He has flipped to a more conservative position on immigration. Just wait until the debates. You'll see.

Well Senator Obama, you know you are on the right track when Rush Limbaugh comments on the daily politics and direct his comments at your campaign.

Keep turning up the heat on the Republicans!

It's simple. Nothing in that ad is false. The Republicans led bu Rush L. are against immigration reform. McCain proposed reform when he thought it will poll well. His party pushed back and he voted AGAINST the very same reform he initiated, meaning he went back to his party's position. He, at the end of the day, agreed with his party's position. The immigration reformist image is a facade. It's like the bridge to nowhere claim. When the facts are considered, he voted against immigration reform.

So, if you have someone who's been around since the 80's, you'd think they'd understand his record of bucking the party line on immigration. This is absurd. John McCain HATES republicans, anyone that's studied politics for more than two years knows that he can't stand them. I wonder if any of you remember the heated things he said about Bush in 2000. I wonder if any of you know his stem cell research and abortion views, THEY ARE DIFFERENT THAN REPUBLICANS. If this election is about issues, then Americans need to start doing their homework. McCain has tons of INDEPENDENT history. Obama has voted with his party 96% of the time and doesn't even know the meaning of the word "centrism."

So this is the new politics, eh? And trying to tie your opponent to someone that is disliked was supposed to be off pudding. So lets talk about Obama's friends Ayers, Wright, Fleger.

Okay, so now Obama is lying in yet another ad. McCain has been accused of lying in his ads. They are both politicians, that is what they do. Where are the comments calling Obama's tactics vile and sleazy? He isn't any better than McCain and in fact trying to cause a race issue with the Latino community is a disgrace. Thankfully, Latinos are smarter than Obama gives them credit for and they have more conservative values than he does, so hopefully, they will vote McCain.

I'm voting for Obama very enthusiastically. I'm glad he's being tough on the issues, especially where the economy is concerned. However, I do hope he pulls the Limbaugh ad. Just as I hated that horrible McCain ad that attempted to make Obama appear to be some kind of pervert interested in teaching age-inappropriate sex education to Kindergarten children, I don't like trying to paint McCain as something he's not. It's not necessary. I say let him dig his own hole. His lack of interest in and knowledge of the economy along with his disastrous VP pick should be enough to accomplish that. No need to distort anything. Keep hitting him hard on the economy and the war. Be relentless. And use nothing but the facts to do it.
