I said yesterday that Obama would be 47 to McCain 44 by the middle of next week, looks like I may have been too (heh) conservative in that estimate. Good job Barack. The biggest advantage for Obama is that the boost McCain got took the RNC convention and it took McCain picking a running mate that was supposed to be a game changer and the nail in the coffin and all kinds of other things. But now we've gotten to know Palin a bit, and her approval rating in polls is at about 40%. Ouch. And McCain doesn't have another convention, he doesn't have another running mate to announce, there are no rabbits left in the hat. Economic trouble is bad for a candidate of the incumbent's party, and will only help Obama's campaign. McCain is still wholly tied to Bush in the American mind. This time last week, Obama supporters were wishing that the debates would get here and give Obama a boost. Now the McCain supporters have to hope against hope (heh) that the email chain letters they've been getting about Obama having poor public speaking skills are correct. They have to hope that McCain doesn't contradict himself in the debates like he has been on a daily basis on the trails, they have to hope that putting a ruined old man up against a vibrant young man won't have the same effect that the Kennedy-Nixon debates had, and they have to hope that Obama doesn't run rings around McCain. Well, good luck to them with that, and I'm still faily positive that Obama will be our next president.

McCain and Palin seem to think their jokes and the dodging of questions without giving concrete answers are funny. That woman gave Sarah Palin and open ended opportunity to share her views and wisdom on foreign policy and what did she do - tell an unfunny joke! The McCain campaign doesn't really think much of us by throwing Sarah Palin at us to vote for. She's not HRC and I don't care what she looks like because being VP is not based on beauty but brains. I think that Tina Fey line that all the Republicans had been repeating ad nausem about Russia being a neighbor of Alaska and that's her foreign policy experience really took the wind out of that sail and people are beginning to see how STUPID that statement is. This woman is a FRAUD and we can't give her or Sen McCain an opportunity to do to us what's already been done by Bush/Cheney!!! Think women of America, THINK!

n 2006, the Alaska state branch of the right-wing Eagle Forum asked gubernatorial candidate Sarah Palin if she was offended by the inclusion of the phrase "Under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance:

Not on your life. If it was good enough for the founding fathers, its [sic] good enough for me and I'll fight in defense of our Pledge of Allegiance.

The Pledge of Allegiance was written in the late 19th century by a fellow named Bellamy (a Christian socialist no less!) as part of an effort to improve the circulation of the magazine he was with at the time and generally improve the condition of American boyhood, about which a certain amount of fretting was then underway about their collective constitution and resolve (widespread at the time; this was roughly around the same time Baden Powell started the scouting movement on your side of the pond).

So that's 100-plus years after the founding fathers were doing their thing. And even then, the words "under God" weren't inserted until the cold war, the better to highlight the difference between America and the Godless Russkies.

This is widely known in the US. There's been a controversial legal battle here over the last few years, and every news-following American has a pretty good idea of most of the above facts. This woman is an idiot.

I'm voting for Obama on his positions, but also I like the man. I like what he stands for, I like his background, I like his firm belief that he can make a difference. He's literally put ting his life on the line to run for the presidency, and he definitely has my vote. I'm so excited about voting in November, and making a difference.

I happen to believe that Barack will think about Americans more. Like us he is concerned about the country he's leaving for his kids. McCain doesn't know how many homes he owns. Ironic.

So tune down the rhetoric America and really think seriously about your choice. It will make a difference.

Even though I dont make much of these polls since it's a very small sample of the voting pop, a 2% lead is better than being behind 2%.

I truly believe that after the debates that Obama's lead will increase but ultimately the election will lie in the hands of young and new voters who tend to favor Obama. If the nation has a high voter turnout, Obama wins this.

This is the third time I have tried to get a message in, but to no avail. I will try again and ask a simple question. Why were not the polling results of two of the good standard of polling not included. Rasmussen and Zogby were not in the group. Both have McCain ahead! One by five points. Check out the battleground states. Ohio, Michigan, Pennslyvania, Florida and West Viriginia. Pennsylvania is tied and Obama is carrying Michigan and losing all the others!

I love the continued use of "It's the economy, stupid!". Only an uneducated mindless robot would actually believe that voting for and electing a particular Presidental candidate will change the economy. Aside from that, the only poll that matters is the one held on Super Tuesday in November, and I am not referring to the infamous and incredibly inaccurate exit polls. I am talking about the one where you step behind the curtain and make that choice that is between you, God, and the counters. Lose the emotional charge and who makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside and vote for the one that logically is better qualified.
