Trump also said Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin had rejuvenated the Republican Party.
Trump also said Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin had rejuvenated the Republican Party.

(CNN) – Real estate mogul Donald Trump is endorsing Sen. John McCain: “I’ve known him. I like him. I respect him. He’s a smart guy and I think he’s going to be a great president,” Trump said Wednesday night on CNN’s Larry King Live. “I endorse him.”

Watch: Trump backs McCain

Trump also had praise for McCain’s decision to pick Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate. “I think she’s made a tremendous impact. The impact that she has had on rejuvenating almost the Republican Party, it’s been unbelievable.”

Trump also confided that he did not know who Palin was before McCain asked her to join him on the GOP ticket. “As soon as we got to see her and watch her, everybody’s impressed,” said Trump. “That really is to John McCain’s credit. What he did in this choice is amazing. . . . It was a courageous choice.”

Trump may have announced his endorsement last night, but he voted with his pocketbook months ago; campaign finance records show Trump, who has donated to McCain for years, and gave the legal maximum to the Arizona senator in May. The same month, the members of Trump’s family — wife Melania Knauss and children Donald Jr, Ivanka and Eric — also gave McCain the maximum individual donation allowed under federal campaign finance laws.

The New York mogul — who said Wednesday night that McCain was winning, but it would be a “different race” if Hillary Clinton were Obama’s running mate — was also an early financial supporter of his home state senator’s presidential campaign.

Rothschilds and now Trump! The rich people must be getting scared!

Is it because his hairstyle resembles Palin's?

Emily   September 18th, 2008 1:04 pm ET

It is funny to see all ultra rich people are running to McCain. While those people are proud of donating money to charities, and foundations, obviously they do not want to let the government take money to re-distribute it to the lower income people in the country.

Why? I guess they still want to get the name recognition and praise of donating money to charities, because the tax to help lower income would not be recognized by others?

Wait a minute, wait a minute...a rich person is backing a Republican? WHAT A SURPRISE!

We're NOT "your friends"!!!   September 18th, 2008 1:03 pm ET

This endorsement comes down to simple math. Trump makes more than 250/K per year. McCain would keep in place the Bush tax code which in turn would see more tax breaks to the top 2% of the American people. Obama's tax plan would give a TAX BREAK to people making under 250K per year, which obviously Trump does not. Which of these categories do YOU fall into?

e.j.mohammed   September 18th, 2008 1:03 pm ET

Who cares about Trump he's not feeling the pinch like the rest of us that have to work hard for every cent to buy gas and groceries! He lives in an ivory tower with tinsel and glitz!
I have lost respect for McCain he's lost his integrity!

facts are facts   September 18th, 2008 1:02 pm ET

Wow what a surprise another rich and callous person supporting the McCain platform of making the rich richer and let the others eat cake. If this endorsement doesn't tell Americans anything then they deserve what they get.

AMERICA for Obama   September 18th, 2008 1:02 pm ET

I believe that Karl Rove and George Bush just don't like McCain, can you blame them. I think that Bushy and Rovey believe that McCain is lying to them about keeping up their strategies and they do not trust him to follow through with their policies as revenge for the way the Bushy and Rovey's have treated McCain over the last 8 years. They figure if all their pet projects are going to be revoked by either Obama or McCain, that they might as well throw McCain under the political bus just to get the last laugh. Besides, the Bushy's, Cheney's, and Rovey's of the world are so loaded financially after the last 8 years that they could probably care less who is elected. They just want to retire and dissapear into the sunset and I think they believe that Obama will allow them to do that as a compromise for the GOP losing complete control of the political system. We can only hope!

Erin in Edmonds WA   September 18th, 2008 1:00 pm ET

Of course a lacivious, rich, womanizing pig would endorse one of his own. Like it's going to make a difference.

This trump endorsement will in turn be trumped by the announcement that NOW will be endorsing Obama/Biden because of their long records on being pro-women and writing legislation that protects women. When that happens, This news about Trump will fade away in seconds. McCain's women's vote will disappear like a fart in a wind storm.

Chipster   September 18th, 2008 1:00 pm ET

Trump: King of the ME generation! It's all about him and how much he can get in tax breaks.

Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, two men who are known for their generosity and philanthropy, support Sen. Obama. What has Trump ever done for anyone besides himself?

We've had enough corporate greed over the last 7 years. Let's restore our national soul. Vote for Sen. Obama. If nothing else, he knows the Constitution, taught it for 12 years. No more "signing statements!"

Of course Trump supports McCain. Why would the man support someone who will raise taxes on him over someone who'll cut them? This is a man who came to light during the era of trickle-down economics, and likely doesn't see what's really going on.

Steve   September 18th, 2008 12:59 pm ET

Well it's McCain who is going to give him a TAX BREAK so this is a no brainer. Of course 5% of rich people would endorse McCain just for that reason. If they care much about the country and the people you would think they wouldn't care about their tax break but for the country but we all know you can't be filthy rich likes this while carrying for your country nor the people.

Nice going about looking after your investement Sir!

The party of the rich, has anyone looked at who Obama hangs out with and gets his money from lately. Trump knows a few things about good times and bad. Obama will be the least prepared least qualified president ever if this nation is short sighted enough to elect him. I pray they arent. Trump is a racist. If you support John McCain you are a racist. The cries from the lunatic left will continue like this for the next 60 days.

Obama-Junkie, IL   September 18th, 2008 12:55 pm ET

Sorry Mr. "Comb-Over" Trump. I don't buy your excuse for not supporting Obama. First and foremost, Trump is lying (or terribly uninformed) about Obama's tax plan. For those who make over $250,000 your taxes would go up under Obama's plan (back to the Clinton years rates).

Secondly, Trump gave money to Hillary's campaign in which Hillary was also for raising taxes.

The only thing that Trump said that probably had truth to it was that he has known McCain for a long time.

I expect Ms. Palin to be judged just as a MAN would be in the upcoming debates.

She has considerable executive experience ... more than John McCain, is the commander-in-chief of the Alaska National Guard, is a working mother of 5 children, including one born to her at age 43. She has fought graff and been a reformer as the Mayor and Governor of a city and state.

Mr. Biden better be careful that she doesn't make him look foolish in their up coming debate.

We can count on Mrs. Paliln NOT HIDING behind her GENDER and taking Mr. Biden to task.

Bulldog   September 18th, 2008 12:52 pm ET

John McCain and Sarah Palin want to blame Wall Street for our economic mess we are in today like they did today in Iowa. The problem is that Wall Street would NOT have been able to do what they've done if John McCain and his great friend and economic adviser Phil Gramm didn't push a deregulation bill in 1999 that took away restrictions on bank and financial firms that were put in place after the Great Depression.

John McCain has a DIRECT responsibility for the economic mess we are in but he wants to try to blame everyone else. What happened to "the buck stops here"? John McCain is a fraud.

Dan , TX   September 18th, 2008 12:51 pm ET

Trump wants that additional 10% reduction in his tax rate in addition to the 10% tax cut he got under Bush. That's understandable.

If those tax cuts cause the US economy to tank more, and the social fabric of the country begins to unravel, he'll move to Switzerland, perhaps, to wait out the problem.

I hope all the multimillionaires move to another country. Because there are plenty of us that are willing, able, and more competent to take their places.

Ex-Bush (McCain) Supporter   September 18th, 2008 12:51 pm ET

The writing is on the wall. I have totally had enough. I was a firm supporter of George W. Bush and this year for John McCain and Sarah Palin. Now after paying close attention to his and her speechs I a fed us with the Bull. People are hurting because of this administration. People are out of work, the prices of everything is out of control. The most scary thing of all is all the Banks that are in financial trouble. Where will it end? For me it will end right here and right now. Enough is enough. From this day I firmly pledge my support for Obama. This country needs a fresh start and a 360 degree turnaround CHANGE. If things continue the way they are my wife and I won't be able to afford to send our children to college.

I will vote for CHANGE – OBAMA – Please make it happen.

***TO: JAMES NOLAN
McCain had a fundraiser at $50,000 per plate recently. I guess that's ok with you.

Obama is a rags to riches story. He WORKED for everything and his wealth (4million) is considered modest by Washington's standards.

McCain MARRIED his wealth of over 100 million. That is after he cheated on and ditched his first wife and kids, after she was badly injured in an auto accident, for beer heiress Cindy. He then used her money to climb the political ladder.

There is a big difference between these two men, not only on issues, but on integrity too.

You can do a comb over on a Trump.
But it's still a Trump.

Donald Trump, god bless him, is a cut-throat business tycoon who knows who will best protect his bottom line – even if it means the little guy has to suffer more of the same downsizing and economic marginalization that we've seen over the past eight years. No surprise there.

And if Kenny Boy Lay were still around, he'd be voting McCain as well.

Thanks you Donald...you and the dead pet on your head are shining proof that rich corporate America is all for McCain's pandering tax cuts no matter what it will do to our economy and is doing its best to avoid being forced to behave in anything close to a socially responsible manner. You just helped Obama dummy.

Well, duh? That's is a no brainer. If you are FILTHY rich like The Trumps, The McCains & The Bushes.. McCain/Palin is your ticket to paying LESS taxes. For the rest of us who DON'T own 9 houses - or one that recently sold for $100,000,000!) we enthusiastically endorse OBAMA!

Palin is to this election, what The Apprentice WAS (as in past tense) to TV. Exploded on the scene, trumped up ratings, completely unrealistic, all brash, bluster and high drama... and soon to be cancelled!

Big money people are backing McCain...Bill Gates, Rothchild and now Donald Trump – Surprise, Surprise. They're just protecting their Tax Cut money and they know McCain is in their corner. It's obvious now who the real Elitist is (McCain step forward). These kind of greedy people don't care about the Economy. It looks strong to them. Elitist McCain is no Maverick to the Jet set crowd.

Does anyone still think that McCain is for the working men and women in this country?

the rich feeding the rich. keep the quotes coming, why dont reports have more follow up to the questions they ask, “I think she’s made a tremendous impact. The impact that she has had on rejuvenating almost the Republican Party, it’s been unbelievable.”>>what has she done other than be McCain eye candy for the past 3 weeks?

“As soon as we got to see her and watch her, everybody’s impressed,” >>impressed with what? her vanilla stance on all issues?

"you can try to play stump the candidate if you want" >>yes, we want you to have all the answers, and if you dont.....get lost!!

The repubs in this country are blind and base their votes on being nice and sweet and "I could go to a BBQ with that guy, he's got my vote" >> look at the state of our country with that mindset, whats scary is it can get worse still....

Teddy California   September 18th, 2008 12:34 pm ET

It is true more rich people support Republicans. But almost as many rich people support Democrats.

Rich people also want to hatch their bets. Since most people have been thinking that Obama (Democrats) will certainly win the White House this year, so a lot of the rich people donated to Obama. They want to buy the influence and access. In the recent days, it seems there is a big chance McCain can actually win! Some rich people are now rushing to support McCain now because they do not wan to be left out in case McCain actually wins.

For instance, Wall Street donated a lot of money to candidates. This year, Wall Street donated much more money to Democrats than Republicans because Democrats control the congress and will likely control the White House in a few months. Wall Street does not like regulations. I can bet no major new regulations will be imposed even in an Obama's administration. Obama got far more money from Wall Street than McCain. He has to listen to their voices. That is why he is not proposing any new regulations!

Nate- Minneapolis   September 18th, 2008 12:34 pm ET

Trump is a joke and this is no surprise. Trump is the perfect republican spokes person. He inherits hundreds of millions from his father, loses it making bad business deals and files for bancruptcy, gets bailed out, gets another group of investors money, loses it, files for bancruptcy, gets more money and in the process of doing it again. Don't listen to him- he knows how to lose money. Don't listen to his personal responsiblity story or how he's self made man. He's never been personally responsible and it's pretty easy to make money when someone gives you millions of dollars. The trumps and McCains are peas of a pod.

Of course he is endorsing mccain, as one of the billionares that would have to pay his fair share of taxes. He wants someone who will not hold him accountable for paying what he owes.

While the rest of us working people have to pay for all these bailouts while the government is guaranteeing private investors/companies public bailouts. What the f–k is going on here. People like donald trump get tax write offs. Hey, I am struggling to pay my bills also, can the government bail me out.

CNN find some real news to report... I'm seriousy about to switch to MSNBC...

James Nolan   September 18th, 2008 12:25 pm ET

I have to wonder about the people who are putting down Mcain because he has money.

The last time I check it out Obama was not standing in any cheese lines. **News Flash** Obama is rich also. He no closer in touch with the american people than Mcain is.

I do not know about you I cannot afford a Barbara Striesand concert nontheless a 26,000 dollar a plate event. You want to get in touch with america kick back at the local bars and have a 5.00 dollar cover charge.

We all want a president who will help us gain our American dream but we get jelous and hurl comments when the candidate actually has lived this dream.

No one president is going to change this country, this is the facts. We keep changing our direction at every election. not going to work.

If you go back to the founding fathers of this country, not sure many have.. The federalist views was to have government play almost a non-existant role in our lifes. Democrats do not see it this way.

Before we start blaming the economy on Bush, we have to look back that these wheels were set turning during the Clinton Administration, Nafta anyone..

Cnn will not post this, they never do, you say something bad about Obama and they run.
The news Media wants Obama, plain and simple. George Orwell was write in one aspect big brother does control us. He got it wrong though it was not the government it was the Media.

That is all I got to say.... Farewell CNN (Clinton News network)

McCain has a 61% approval rating and you REALLY think CNN is posting equal comments here? Just a hateful bunch of liberals posting here. Just look at the Venom for ANYONE who supports McCain. First, you radical Left Wing nuts, attack Palin BEFORE YOU EVEN KNEW WHO SHE WAS. Now, let's go after the Donald. But, you'd be kissin his Butt if he endorsed Obama. Sean Chong   September 18th, 2008 12:24 pm ET

Trump's argument that taxing the $250k will somehow cut down the distribution of wealth to the lower-income people is somehow twisted. Yes, you will need to give incentives to become rich, however, I think the taxation should be progressive, so that the richer people share the burden of taxation. If they could donate their money for charitable purposes, they will enjoy tax cut (like what we're doing now), if they prefer to keep their money, in properties etc. in order to earn more money, how does that help the country and how does that redistribute wealth?

I'm not surprised that anybody who has made a lot of money as the result of deregulated markets and the obviously flawed supply side economic philosophy is supporting McSame. But the vast majority of Americans are being taken to the cleaners. Can we, once and for all, declare supply side economics (a.k.a., Reagon-omics, Voodoo economics, trickle-down economics, and so on) a complete and utter failure!!!!

conatasustenamus   September 18th, 2008 12:22 pm ET

Wise move.
There are ways and methods of improving the economy–that don't lead to stagnation (due to higher individual taxes for small business owners) and movement towards a more socialisti nation.

The "way left" and people who are not, nor have ever been in the work force–support the Obama campaign.

Take college students, people on pensions, retired professors, junior military, and a few small businesses out of the mix–and Obama's "real time" support dwindles.

The dream which makes America–the place people around the world desire to come...will evaporate under the "new socialism" ideals of Obama, Pelosi...and the Socialist Democratic Party of America.

Len in Washington   September 18th, 2008 12:22 pm ET

This is an interesting story, because Trump is backing the ticket that will not raise his taxes. Obama will cut taxes for the rest of us. I notice something recently. Since Palin is doing interviews with Fix News, I mean FOX news. Other reporters are trying to change their tone on the McCain Campaign. I think, they feel that writing positive words, will gain some future gratitude from Republican, with hope of getting a much sought after Palin interview. I think that if Palin does not want to interview, just report the news. I mean after her recent interviews, I never really hear anything news worthy that she said. Except for the fact that she said something at all. If that is the real story, there is no story there.
Trump lost a lot of money lately, and stand to be protected from this bailout. Obama is the hope for the rest of us, and Biden is still my kind of guy. McCain has no answers at all.

In every respect, Sarah Palin brings nothing at all...anti women policies, ignorance of basic foreign policy stands, lies about visiting Iraq, nepotism to an extraordinary degree, disrespect for endangered species and the environment...the list is endless. She is an insult to highly qualified Repulican women and liberal minded Democrat women. There were many qualified GOP women for McCain to choose from...why in the world would anyone pick Palin?

Ellie   September 18th, 2008 12:21 pm ET

Can WE SAY BOZO THE CLOWN #4?

i mean this guy can't even get a decent hair cut! Are you kidding me? Donald Trump supports John McCain because John McCain and Sarah Palin MAKE HIM RICHER and YOU POORER!! Bottom line.

They give huge TAX BREAKS to people like Donald Trump and BIG corporations!

IF WALL STREET DOESNT' GIVE YOU VOTERS A SERIOUS "CLUE" ON WHAT YOUR FUTURE IS GOING TO LOOK LIKE UNDER THE McCAIN-PALIN TICKET, THEN YOU ARE MORE STUPID THAN I THOUGHT!!

georgia independent   September 18th, 2008 12:21 pm ET

Add another rich elitist to McCain's crew. With endorsements like the Donald and the Rothschild, middle America will hopefully wake up and smell the coffee...

And the Republicans criticize Obama for his ties with celebrities?

JC   September 18th, 2008 12:21 pm ET

Um, didn't Trump have to file for bankruptcy a while back? Why would anyone follow his opinion on what is best for the US economy if he couldn't even manage his own empire?

Liz F   September 18th, 2008 12:20 pm ET

well, they have almost the same haircut.

Nel from Chicago   September 18th, 2008 12:20 pm ET

And this is news?? Why? Duh, of couse Trump endorses McCain...

One more thing   September 18th, 2008 12:20 pm ET

And I have a quick comment to make to those who say that Obama will raise your taxes and McCain won't.

Under McCain's plan, he'll give me a tax credit of $5,000 for health benefits, but he'll tax the benefit we receive from my husband's employer. Our health benefits are $14,000 a year, less the tax credit of $5,000, and suddenly I'm paying taxes on an extra $9,000 of income. And then what if the employer decides to stop providing health insurance because "everyone is covered under McCain's plan" (lie, by the way). Then I suddenly have to come up with an extra $9,000 in real money to make up for the benefit I lost. I'd much rather pay the extra $300 or so in taxes that Obama will make me pay since we're between that $250,000 and $603,000 level in income.

Vote smart people!!

Joe Mo   September 18th, 2008 12:20 pm ET

How many houses does Trump have? Go Obama

That just great! There are many many many many folks that does not even know what 250........ plus looks or feel like but, TRYING TO STAY ABOVE WATER in this strong economy. So When President Obama/Vice President Biden tax those hips we might be able to go on vacation. Who cares

Andy   September 18th, 2008 12:19 pm ET

Trump should do the PATRIOTIC THING and pay more taxes!!!!!

CNN, is Biden going to make it on your Obama ticker?

Back in the day, those of us who appreciate "real" news would call a publication like this a Commie Rag. Can't wipe our backsides with it, so I guess we just have to not click on the Communist News Network anymore.

Bet you won't post this!!

SEE YA

Brandon   September 18th, 2008 12:19 pm ET

We told you all, the Hillary haters that you would push Obama into defeat.
He was also his arrogant self and could not see that Hillary as his running mate would take care of McCain and Company.
Obama will lose the White House race to McCain but Democrats will take the Congress. McCain has a record of working with them.

Michael   September 18th, 2008 12:19 pm ET

The Donald is right. This would be a different race if Hillary was VP, or better, the Dem nominee.

Elle   September 18th, 2008 12:19 pm ET

Used to watch your show, The Appentice.

Never again, Donald.

TV Sponsors....we will be watching to see which of you are paying for air time for this guy who is sickeningly elitist and out of touch.

Boycott their products. Hit the rich where it hurts.

Meanwhile, McCain doesn't have to worry about getting foreclosed on any of his 7 houses.

Reprehensible.

larry Rosenbauam   September 18th, 2008 12:19 pm ET

Another great reason to vote for Obama.

Rothchild yesterday and Trump today and she had the guts to call him an elitest?

This endorsement means nothing considering this guy has claimed bankruptcy as much times as the amount of ear marks Palin has taken.

Jason in Arizona   September 18th, 2008 12:19 pm ET

Who Elitist now GOP?

GOP = Goofy Old People party.
Early bird dinners at 5pm, McCain's last phone call on his blackberry device [that HE developed] at 6pm, then off to bed at 630pm.. We can't afford McCain or Plain Palin..

IF America elects those 2 dodo birds into office, we will get what deserve. I will vote to make sure that doesn't happen!!

Trump.. NICE HAIR, let the comb-over go already you fool.

Obama & Biden for 2008!!

The wealthy always support the wealthy. They keep it at the top.

The ignorant somehow think if they vote for the wealthy they will get more money – WRONG !!!!

Steve   September 18th, 2008 12:18 pm ET

That's one endorsement I would not want. 1st and endorsement from borderline royalty yesterday, now Trump. And who is the elitist around here? Common folk wake up. Donald Trump and Lynn Forester de Rothschild are NOT like you...

NoMcSame   September 18th, 2008 12:18 pm ET

Race. All race is why he wants McSame and Palin. He would rather a person that he knows nothing about than to vote Obama. What has Palin and McSame shown that they would do more for the country than Obama and Biden. For 18 months all we would hear is that the country does not know Obama but all of that just went out of the window when it came to Palin and if McSame wins that would put her one last breath from president. Top of the line educated black is still not good enough But C student crash and burn McSame and five univ. in six years to graduate Palin is all American. She does not know nothing about nothing. Race. All race.

I'll take 4 more years of "Bush" vs Obama!!   September 18th, 2008 12:18 pm ET

He's a business man who won't do well if the economy or country go in the crapper, so don't dismiss him so fast. He doesn't need the tax breaks you claim McCain will give him, and he knows about how to acheive the American dream.

Benjamin Columbus, OH   September 18th, 2008 12:18 pm ET

I just can't figure out what the Trumps and Rothschilds see in Sen McCain.

Surprise surprise, another multimillionaire for McSame. You think he is smart huh? Why did he finish number 895 out of 899 students at his college? Yeah the pick of Palin was genious, LOL .I guess the reason you managed to bankrupt a casino was due to your hiring of utterly inexperienced people like Bushwithlipstick. Oh and finally WHO CARES!

Dianna, CA   September 18th, 2008 12:17 pm ET

Great, now they can compare each other's private planes, play a little golf, and toast to the "fundamentally strong economy."

Obama/Biden 08

Chris   September 18th, 2008 12:17 pm ET

Do you Obama supporters feel jealous that many successful people endorse McCain? You must be relishing the fact that Obama would tax all over 250k a year and give to people like yourselves that do not deserve that money. Stop feeling sorry for yourself that you work minimum wage jobs and didn't go to college and now feel entitled to money that isn't yours. Move to Europe already, socialism's cool over there. Obama – a national travesty

Belle1   September 18th, 2008 12:17 pm ET

Actually, if anyone BOTHERS to watch the H & C interview of Sarah Palin or the 4 parts on UTube, she gets down to specifics, and you can certainly see why McCain picked her!

She was great.

By the way, Obama has 0 Economic Experience, and 0 Foreign Policy Experience. Biden has 0 Executive Experience.

McCain/Palin 08

me-o-my   September 18th, 2008 12:16 pm ET

It only goes to show where the extra wealthy rich are betting their money. Go for the extra rich (dumb) guy. It makes no difference to the extra rich what happens to the economy for the average working guy. Let the poor guy get lower down so the extra rich can keep their heels on their throats.

Rebublican for Obama   September 18th, 2008 12:16 pm ET

WOW! What a surprise! Another rich elitist backing McSame! McSAME choosing Obama to be a heartbeat away from being our President – a courageous move?? It scares the hell out of me – she is a bold face lyer, vindictive towards people who don't agree with her, and last but not least – she is a stupid fluff who gives women a BAD name! By the way, I am a woman!

Just Me In WV   September 18th, 2008 12:16 pm ET

Gee, makes you wonder how the rich can be so stingy. They want to make obscene amounts of money and not be taxed. After all, taxes are for the "little guys" – they are used to doing without. Shame on those rich folks.

of course trump would be for mccain. That is a no brainer.

Joe   September 18th, 2008 12:16 pm ET

Palin was a great pick!

She can fix the economy because she can see Bank of Wasilla from her house.

Tony in GA   September 18th, 2008 12:16 pm ET

Just like his failure in real estate, he has made another bad decision! He states that McCain is winning?! While I don't believe the polls, McCain has an uphill battle. Now that the conversation is actually on issues than McCain lies, MCCAIN/PALIN has no chance!!!!!!!

Moe   September 18th, 2008 12:16 pm ET

is this a joke... Why do the supper rich love McCain?

CHANGE = OBAMA   September 18th, 2008 12:16 pm ET

How did John McCain hold out so well in Vietnam and cave so quickly to the GOP base?

And what is Palin hiding?

Maggie   September 18th, 2008 12:15 pm ET

That's a no brainer...

Sarah L., Fayetteville, AR   September 18th, 2008 12:15 pm ET

Another one of the super-rich for McCain. I wonder if this has anything to do with Obama's tougher stance on the economy and proposed tougher regulations?

fair and balanced   September 18th, 2008 12:15 pm ET

Not sure if anyone caught the fact check in the article about McCains new ad, but if you didn't here part of what it says. Obamas tax plan would give the biggest break to lowest income earners (my comment: the working poor). McCains plan would give the biggest breaks to the higher income earners (the rich).

Hmm. Why do you think Donald Trump likes McCain?

Truth   September 18th, 2008 12:15 pm ET

Does anyone really care what Donald Duck thinks? His reality show was terrible, is it even on anymore? Big surprise, another old rich white billionare, but yet still can't afford a decent hair piece, supports McCain. Why is this even news?

Lana   September 18th, 2008 12:15 pm ET

Of course Trump supports McCain. The GOP has been helping the billionaires all along and they want to keep it that way. Get the fox out of the chicken coop. Vote for Obama.

Minerva-Nashua   September 18th, 2008 12:15 pm ET

I vote for McCain and Palin to be the next celebrity contestants on "The Apprentice"

Old Fart   September 18th, 2008 12:15 pm ET

Are the endorsements of other minor television personalities going to be given the same coverage? Who's John Davidson endorsing? Howie Mandell? Ryan Seacrest? That guy on that fifth grader show?

Kim   September 18th, 2008 12:15 pm ET

Shocking...a greedy, self-centered billionaire doesn't want to give back to America by paying more taxes, and he is backing McCain. Who would have guessed such a turn of events. I'm fairly certain if Palin applied to "The Apprentice" she would hear the words "you're fired" in about 2 milliseconds, but she's the appropriate person to be second in command.

Happy in Arizona   September 18th, 2008 12:15 pm ET

WHY DIDN'T MCCAIN REFUSE THIS HOLLYWOOD ENDORSEMENT?? TRUMP IS A REALITY TV STAR ON A REALLY BAD SHOW.

HE IS ALSO A LARGE CORPORATION OWNER AND HAS HAD TO BE "BAILED OUT" THROUGH BANKRUPTCY ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. I GUESS THAT'S WHY HE'S ENDORSING MCCAIN...SO HE CAN GET THAT TAX MONTY THAT OBAMA WANTS TO GIVE TO THE OTHER 95% OF US.

Ken in Dallas   September 18th, 2008 12:14 pm ET

Mike T Chicago   September 18th, 2008 12:12 pm ET

WOW! I always though Trump was a smart guy, but his comments last night on Larry King were very short sighted. From what I got from it Trump doesn't want to pay more taxes! So for that reason he is going to support McCain. The fact that he thinks Palin is a good pick is just plain stupid. Her ratings are falling now that America is getting to know her. Lets see where she stands in a few weeks.

My comments are always AWAITING moderation   September 18th, 2008 12:12 pm ET

Let's face it. Palin would not have made it through the first cuts on that show Trump did. But she does have some scary characteristics in common with that Omarosa lady.

Here's to Trump:
Palin – a good pick. Like McCain: mesmerized by a former beauty queen.
Maples, Ivana, etc : beauty queens/models who will outlive their so-called beauty.
Trump: so shallow.

Heidi   September 18th, 2008 12:10 pm ET

And where was Trump all year long with others were seriously endorsing their candidate of choice.

Give me a break...November 4th won't come soon enough.

Ann, AK   September 18th, 2008 12:09 pm ET

Oh big surprise CNN, tell us something we don't know. Why would Trump want government regulations? He wants lip service about government regs, then he wants McCain to do nothing, like he's been doing for 26 years.

End of story, move on CNN

Loud-mouth tycoon real estate moguls like Trump are why the ECONOMY is in such a poor state today. Trump and McCain deserve each other.

Brian Rich   September 18th, 2008 12:09 pm ET

Trump is a millionaire real estate developer. Of course he likes McCain – McCain favors the same real estate deregulation that would make Trump a richer man.

Anonymous   September 18th, 2008 12:09 pm ET

Wow! Trump and Rothschild in the same week.

Just wait for the endorsements from the Gettys, the Queen of England, Daddy Warbucks and the guy from Monoploy.
