(CNN) – New CNN poll of polls out of Indiana and Ohio Friday show both Midwestern states appear up for grabs with less than seven weeks to go before Election Day.
According to averages of several recent surveys from both states, Obama holds a slim 1 point lead in Ohio (46-45 percent) and McCain holds a small 2 point lead in Indiana (47-45 percent).

Both states may be critical for John McCain - no Republican has captured the White House without winning Ohio, and Indiana hasn't voted for a Democratic presidential candidate in more than 30 years.

The Ohio poll of polls consists of three surveys: Big Ten Battleground (September 14-17), CNN/Time/ORC (September 14-16), and Marist (September 11-15). The Indiana general election poll of polls also consists of three surveys: Big Ten Battleground (September 14-17), CNN/Time/ORC (September 14-16), and Indianapolis Star/WTHR (September 14-16).
Neither have a sampling error.

Ohio and Indiana are going to be some of the states to watch in November. Unless something happens to either boost one of the candidates or shoots one down, it is going to be tight the rest of the way.
I cant believe that Obama is that clsoe to McCain in Indiana! This is usually one of the reddest states in the union!
Thats why I dont believe the polls at all this election cycle.

Polls don't include voters who have never voted before. McCain is done since the only supporters he has are of his own age...

Ohio and Indiana is going blue.
We have lost enough jobs due to the Republicans giving tax breaks to companies who outsource the American jobs. It is as simple as that.
Once all the University students and blue collar workers have they say it will be over for McCain and Palin.

THIS IS JUST IN: The McCain / Palin ticket had just revised their campaign in the wake of a weak showing on both states, the new ticket will be now known as:
DUMB AND DUMBER WORKING HARD FOR YOU, AMERICA!
McCain is coming unhinged. A couple more weeks like this one and he'll have trouble carrying Kansas and Utah.

McCain loses either of those states and it's over.
Only poll that matters is Nov 4. There are a gazillion polls all showing different things. It is maddening. Obama just needs to keep on being calm, cool and collected and run his campaign. If he does that, then I am very optimistic.
