Obama-Biden surrogate mocks Palin

A supporter of Obama-Biden got tough on Palin Thursday.
A supporter of Obama-Biden got tough on Palin Thursday.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (CNN) – An Ohio mayor who introduced Joe Biden at a rally Thursday night said Sarah Palin’s hometown of Wasilla, Alaska was “not the real world.”

“One of the things that bothers me is the fact that Governor Palin talks about she's ready to be the Vice President because she's been a mayor.” said Jay Williams, the Democratic-turned-independent mayor of Youngstown. “I’ve never been to Wasilla, but I’m sure it’s a nice little town, In fact it’s so little we could invite them all to sit down in [Youngstown’s] Chevrolet Centre and probably still have room left over.”

“I would love to be the mayor of Wasilla,” he continued. “I could probably do it from my home and not show up to work too often because in Wasilla, they don’t have a crime problem. There were two homicides in Wasilla in the last 13 years.”

Williams added that the average Wasilla income and price for a home are above the national average.

“The education, they have small student/teacher ratios,” said Williams. “That’s not the world that we live in ladies and gentlemen, you all know that here in the real world, we have to deal with issues of crime, and poverty, and education. That’s what happens.”

Before Williams moved on to why he is a fan of Biden’s, he took one last swipe at the notion that Palin claims foreign policy experience because Alaska’s proximity to Russia, an argument offered up by McCain.

“That would be the equivalent of me wanting to do your heart surgery because I live next door to a doctor,” said Williams. “It just doesn't add up. Being mayor is a very good preparation for a lot of things, even potentially being vice president. But only if you're the mayor and have to deal with real world issues.”

Barack Obama and Joe Biden have both refrained from saying much, if anything, about Sarah Palin on the stump - their go-to line is they don’t know enough about her to differentiate her from John McCain.

But some of the surrogates introducing them at rallies have been less restrained; earlier this week, a Michigan supporter introducing Biden at an event called Palin a “bucket of fluff.”

Who has experience being President people? You are dumb and ignorant if you vote McShame... I am a woman and just because he picked Palin( who has not one clue.. I like how she reads from the monitor) I will still never vote for him...

    I'm sick of reports about Palin. Until she is willing to speak to the people with some real answers and not these script answers she's been given she is a nonentity for me. Stick to the people who are actually running for office (Obama, Biden, McCain). Not this beauty pageant queen given her short answer interview.

    Obama can be the 1st "Mocking" President.

    That's all he and his campaign have been doing lately.

    * Mock the Bible
    * Mock American citizens
    * Mock America
    * Mock Republicans
    * Mock Women

    If they do this in front of the cameras... what do you think they do/say when the cameras are off?

    I agree that Palin doesn't have a wealth of experience. Even more alarming is that she does have more experience then Obama...the one who's actually on the top of the democratic ticket.

    Yes, he's right. I just wished more people could see Palin for the fraud that she is. People are very stupid and disappointing. They are falling over themselves to support moose-hunting barbie. WHat a joke.

    Palin needs to "man-up" if she wants to hang with the big dogs. She can't keep this victim act up for too long.

    That's very well said actually. Simple, straight to the point. Good talking points Williams. I just hope the rest of the country realize that.

    I shall disclose, by way of a simple experiment, the winner of the upcoming presidential election. Ask anyone – across the political spectrum – the following question:

    The record of one candidate does not match his rhetoric.
    Who came to mind?

    The other guy wins.

    ITS NOT MOCKING. They are telling the truth about her. She dealt with one issue all through her time as mayor she built a $14.7 million sports conplex for 5780 people and left them to run the complex at a loss of $100,000 every year. Not to mention the law suit that wasilla paid $1.4 million settlements few weeks back.

    Why does Obama and Biden insist on demoting Palin, she is the Governor not the mayor and has a 80% favorable rating.

    Obama=Carter
    Biden=?????????????

    Palin is all about bad parenting and lies, lies, lies.

    Google Track Palin Oyycontin and sere how he spent two years snorting and injecting the "White Trash" before Palin dumped him on the National Guard.

    Google meet Bristol Palin Mojo and see a pictorial essay of her boozing it up. 17 year old high school dropout pregnant and drinking.

    You think ordinary Americans identify with that?

    It's rediculous to bash Mrs. Palin for her accomplishments. While it is most certainly true that her public service has been for communities that do not face anywhere near the breadth or depth of issues, to which the vast communities in the United States, or the world for that matter, face, she has still done more than most in being a public servant.

    I completely disagree with nearly all of what I've seen of her political view points, but that's no reason whatsoever to attempt to take away from the fact that she has, at least, attempted to help her community through public service.

    Absolutely no place for this type of rhetoric...and I'd be very disappointed if I actually hear Obama or Biden express these same views. They haven't as of yet, though, which is a very good thing.

    If only Barack Obama would've met up with John McCain for those town hall meetings, the market collapse would not have happened.
