Obama-Biden surrogate mocks Palin

A supporter of Obama-Biden got tough on Palin Thursday.

A supporter of Obama-Biden got tough on Palin Thursday.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (CNN) – An Ohio mayor who introduced Joe Biden at a rally Thursday night said Sarah Palin’s hometown of Wasilla, Alaska was “not the real world.”

“One of the things that bothers me is the fact that Governor Palin talks about she's ready to be the Vice President because she's been a mayor.” said Jay Williams, the Democratic-turned-independent mayor of Youngstown. “I’ve never been to Wasilla, but I’m sure it’s a nice little town, In fact it’s so little we could invite them all to sit down in [Youngstown’s] Chevrolet Centre and probably still have room left over.”

“I would love to be the mayor of Wasilla,” he continued. “I could probably do it from my home and not show up to work too often because in Wasilla, they don’t have a crime problem. There were two homicides in Wasilla in the last 13 years.”

Williams added that the average Wasilla income and price for a home are above the national average.

“The education, they have small student/teacher ratios,” said Williams. “That’s not the world that we live in ladies and gentlemen, you all know that here in the real world, we have to deal with issues of crime, and poverty, and education. That’s what happens.”

Before Williams moved on to why he is a fan of Biden’s, he took one last swipe at the notion that Palin claims foreign policy experience because Alaska’s proximity to Russia, an argument offered up by McCain.

“That would be the equivalent of me wanting to do your heart surgery because I live next door to a doctor,” said Williams. “It just doesn't add up. Being mayor is a very good preparation for a lot of things, even potentially being vice president. But only if you're the mayor and have to deal with real world issues.”

Barack Obama and Joe Biden have both refrained from saying much, if anything, about Sarah Palin on the stump - their go-to line is they don’t know enough about her to differentiate her from John McCain.

But some of the surrogates introducing them at rallies have been less restrained; earlier this week, a Michigan supporter introducing Biden at an event called Palin a “bucket of fluff.”

This Ms. Palin has no clue what she's getting in to. She will be chewed up during the debates. Then McCain tells us all she's a foreign policy 'expert' because of Alaska's close proximity to Russia. These people are laughable idiots.

Alaska does NOT have 20% of the nation's energy supplies. This has been debunked time and time again... just another example of how the Republicans' lies feed the ignorant people out there.

Do some research... Fact Check is your friend!!

Palin's experience as governor of Alaska is laughable, and her record is atrocious... not to mention her talent for backhanded, crooked politics.

So being the mayor of a small town of 6,000 makes you qualified to be VP even though you left that town with a huge debt - oh, that's right, she's republican and that's what republicans do. Wake up America.

Those who say Sarah Palin doesn't come from a "real place," should consider this: Barack Obama was born in Hawaii, lived several years in Indonesia, and returned to Hawaii when he was 10 years old. As far as is known, he didn't actually live in the mainland states until he graduated from highschool when he was 18 years old and entered college in California. Compare these two in several areas, and it's astonishing what is there. Lastly, I thought Palin was mayor and governor - not police chief.

Obama simply does not have the experience or brains to be President. From his own lips he can't explain to a group of kids why he should be President, and both Hillary and Biden says he's not ready to lead.

The office of the Presidency requires real leadership skills and Obama just doesn't have it, all he has is a fancy speech and his telepromter which he can't leave home without it. We don't need Obama to run this country into the ground as his fellow democratic govenors and mayors did to their States and cities.

Plain being the mayor of a small town isn't really the issue – her lack of knowledge on foreign policies and a range of other issues is what scares me. In addition... why isn't she allowed to campain on her own or answer any questions from the media? Why is she so sheild as if they don't want her true self to be reveiled until after the election is over and she's possibly a heartbeat away from being president? I just can't imagine what is really going on right now... If she had to be sheild like a young child from the big bad media and half her answers have to be completed by McCain – how is it possible of her to be VP and more so POTUS??? Is it just me or does this scare the living daylights out of everyone else too?

The reason why so many people talk about Palin's experience at being a mayor of Wasilla is because she always talks about it herself.

Why doesn't Palin talk about being governor more often?

Bottom line is that she is the wrong person for the job McCain wants to put her in.

What's up Sarah? Couldn't you have arranged a few more homicides during your tenure?

Yep, Obama is for change. This stunning example of a human being is another fine example of the left's tactic of "We don't have anything to offer, let's bad mouth over stupid things." See, the problem is that there are too many smart people out there who don't drink the koolaide and bask in the light of the annointed one, and don't fall to our knees in praise when he utters the word "Change" (never mind the fact the he has nothing to follow up with that).

When they have nothing to offer, no real substance, they go off on the lame comments and attacks.

At least McCain and Palin know how to speak effectively in public, without aid of teleprompter or asking paraplegics to stand up.

Interesting how even Republicans are coming out saying she is NOT qualified. Every time she opens her mouth, she says nothing. Just watch the debates. Joe will cream her and she will babble.

Dirty Mind of this democrat give your advice to Palin

"Instead of talking of others, highlight your accomplishments williams."

as we have seen she hasn't really accomplished much except troopergate and if she wasn't guilty she'd cooperate like she said she would, she's running like O.J. trying to buy some times, why don't you tell her that Mr. or Mrs. Dirty mind

Unlikely to get through on the Obama News Network, but I'll post anyway.

Apparently Mr. Williams is unaware that she is the Governor of Alaska. So I'll clue him in - she is.

And she got more votes for Governor of Alaska than Joe Biden got from all 50 states (or 57 if you count by Obamanomics) from his own party.

And since the Obama Bin Biden solution to foreign policy is "let's Balkanize Iraq into three independent parts based on sectarian identity (look it up - that's the great foreign policy 'experience' of Smokin' Joe Biden in action, which is to just repeat the same dumb ideas that England and France tried in the 1920's) so we can be positive they will continue to kill each other for the next 1000 years, and then pack up and bail as fast as possible", then perhaps we can use more of the Alaskan outlook on things.

Obamessiah = foreign policy that makes the US the doormat of every 3rd world dictator

Bin Biden = just plain dumb ideas that cause more trouble than they solve

Obama is not! just look at his thin resume with 130 time voted "Present" one can tell!>>>

Another Republican talking point. Do you know how many votes were actually taken? 3,000. He voted present less than 1% of the time which is quite normal for a senator. Get real.

The point of his mentioning crime is that this, and other problems, like diversity, economic issues, violence, etc., exist throughout the country, and if you haven't had any exposure to them, you probably won't know how to deal with them.

You are not just the VP for Alaska, you are VP of the United States.

    …from a storyteller…

While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old rancher, who's hand was caught in the gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Palin and her bid.

The old rancher said, "Well, ya know, Palin is a 'Post Turtle'."

Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a 'Post Turtle' was.

The old rancher said, "When you're driving down a country road you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a 'Post Turtle'."

The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor's face so he continued to explain. "You know she didn't get up there by herself, she don't belong up there, she don't know what to do while she's up there, and you just wonder what kind of dummy put her up there to begin with."

And the arrogance of the Obama campaign continues. Mr. Obama, Mr. Biden and their surrogates believe that small town America is something to be scorned and made fun of. Mr. Obama believes that he can win this election by winning only urban America and continually sends the message to rural Americans that he does not respect them and does not value or want their votes. Mr. Obama’s arrogance and snobbery will be his downfall.

It's obvious Sen Biden has never been to Wasilla. Try 50 mile commutes to work in Anchorage on icy dark roads or two week stints on the Arctic slope away from your family. In the eighties Wasilla suffered a housing crises that makes the present one nationally look mild. Almost half of my neighborhood consisted of empty houses that where people couldn't pay the mortgage. Most of the others were in a negative equity situation. Mayor Palin was a breath of fresh air when she was elected .

The Obama campaign is brilliant. Continue to mock small town American, which is exactly where he needs to pick up votes.

It's really quite a brilliant strategy. Rev up the base that will vote for you no matter what, just to make them feel good, and belittling those that you are trying to convert to your side.

    Change you can believe in.

What a bunch of complete and utter idiots. Please keep it up.

Everyone had their comments about Obama when he was being vetted!!! What… it's okay for the black manrunning for President but not for the woman running for VP?

Hey, Cindy, it's not about being black or being a woman. It's about education, experience, vision, strategies for how to save this country from doom! How can you be that ignorant to make this election about race or gender??? Don't you know what's at stake here? God save us from people like you.
