Obama-Biden surrogate mocks Palin

A supporter of Obama-Biden got tough on Palin Thursday.

A supporter of Obama-Biden got tough on Palin Thursday.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (CNN) – An Ohio mayor who introduced Joe Biden at a rally Thursday night said Sarah Palin’s hometown of Wasilla, Alaska was “not the real world.”

“One of the things that bothers me is the fact that Governor Palin talks about she's ready to be the Vice President because she's been a mayor.” said Jay Williams, the Democratic-turned-independent mayor of Youngstown. “I’ve never been to Wasilla, but I’m sure it’s a nice little town, In fact it’s so little we could invite them all to sit down in [Youngstown’s] Chevrolet Centre and probably still have room left over.”

“I would love to be the mayor of Wasilla,” he continued. “I could probably do it from my home and not show up to work too often because in Wasilla, they don’t have a crime problem. There were two homicides in Wasilla in the last 13 years.”

Williams added that the average Wasilla income and price for a home are above the national average.

“The education, they have small student/teacher ratios,” said Williams. “That’s not the world that we live in ladies and gentlemen, you all know that here in the real world, we have to deal with issues of crime, and poverty, and education. That’s what happens.”

Before Williams moved on to why he is a fan of Biden’s, he took one last swipe at the notion that Palin claims foreign policy experience because Alaska’s proximity to Russia, an argument offered up by McCain.

“That would be the equivalent of me wanting to do your heart surgery because I live next door to a doctor,” said Williams. “It just doesn't add up. Being mayor is a very good preparation for a lot of things, even potentially being vice president. But only if you're the mayor and have to deal with real world issues.”

Barack Obama and Joe Biden have both refrained from saying much, if anything, about Sarah Palin on the stump - their go-to line is they don’t know enough about her to differentiate her from John McCain.

But some of the surrogates introducing them at rallies have been less restrained; earlier this week, a Michigan supporter introducing Biden at an event called Palin a “bucket of fluff.”

CNN= Communist News Network. CNN can you really take yourself serious anymore; you censor comments that do not agree with your liberal "Obama-mania" pushing agenda?

Senator Hagel and Republican Wayne Gilchrest of Maryland, both endorsing Obama yesterday and criticizing Palin for having NO exeperience and NO qualifications whatsoever for the VP position.

Even some republicans are waking up.

At lease Palin has those three stooges, Donald Trump, Sylvester Stallone and that rich, elitist B**** deRothschild in her corner.

Even the Republicans are jumping ship. They can't back away from McCain/Palin fast enough. I guess it's time to save their own butts.

  12. Clinton supporter for Obama

I think Obama, Bill Clinton, and Joe Biden have been doing right by ignoring Palin. After all, she IS on the bottom of the Repub ticket and people sympathize with her (I don't), so attacking her is not smart politically. If people think she is like them, they experience surrogates' attacks on her as personal and belittling. I realize she may be an easy target for some people, but attacking her only reinforces the "cultural war" talking points of the Repubs t– that we on the left are elitists. We know this not to be true. So, please surrogates...stop.

  13. IWASP!-Intelligent Woman Against Sarah Palin

People, I and other Democrats are proud to be liberals so stop touting it like your cursing at us because we are PROUD. Atleast we can hold our heads up high and actually think for ourselves. And to all those calling Obama an empty suit I guess his 12 yrs as a Constitutional Law Professor, 8yrs as a State Senator , 4 yrs as a US Senator sponsering over 150 bills and a member of the foreign intelligence committee palesin comparison to your beauty queens 6 yrs as mayor of a town of 7,000 and 19 mos as governor with a BA in Journalism, huh?

I sometimes feel like the dems have to be as evil and deceptive as the reps just because I feel like thats the only thing people understand and then sometimes I feel like we have to set a new standard of actual decency. I'm torn.....Palin is truly a joke and those are some great points mayor William brouhgt up.

If Gov. Palin is qualified to be president, let her run for president. I bet she would get less votes then Sen. Biden. Which is probably 100,000 more than Rudy.

The problems Wasilla and Alaska faces are nothing compared to NYC, LA, Miami, Boston, Altanta, Dallas, DC, Chicago, or Philadelphia.

It is okay to like someone, but making that person (vice) president is a bit much.

You do realize that running Wasilla in an economy fat on inflated oil prices isn/t really much of a challenge.

And Obama has more experience? Come on people, Obama was a community organizer who worked to get votes for himself.

It is documented that the women of the project in Illinois had to do all the work themselves to get the asbestos out of their building and that Obama showed up in the end. He didn't do anything for these people, but take the credit for the work those women did.

This Mayor should be very careful in what he states. He has had issues as being Mayor, whereas Governor Sarah Palin has over an 80% approval rating from her state.

You show me a Governor who has that high an approval rating. There is a reason she does so and that is why she will make a great Vice President.

After this pathetic campaign and people waking up, not only in Alaska, but across the country, Palin will be lucky if she gets re-elected Governor in Alaska.

The curtain has been pulled back on Palin and people are finally beginng to see the real Sarah.

Obama and Biden have nothing worthwhile to say concerning the "issues of today" therefore all they can do is attack McCain and Palin. They are so juvenile and immature. Neither one of them belongs in the white house. They need to go back to middle school because that is the level of their maturity!!!

Perhaps CNN could take some time off from their everything is Palin and comment on the fact that McCain is running another despicable lying ad which again falsely says that Frank Raines formerly from Fannie Mac is one of Obama's advisors.

This is ABSOLUTELY false as both Raines and Obama have clearly stated. How can America trust a man like McCain who stands in front of the voters during this financial crisis?

perhap a comparison of who is actually one each candidate's financial advisory team to show who is exactly in the hands of the lobbyists.
