From

(CNN) - FBI agents investigating the hacking of a personal email account belonging to Alaska governor Sarah Palin have searched the home of the son of a Democratic state legislator, federal law enforcement sources said Monday.

The search occurred late Saturday and early Sunday at the Knoxville home of David Kernell, 20, son of Memphis Democrat Mike Kernell.

Officially, Justice Department spokeswoman Laura Sweeney acknowledged Monday only that "investigative activity occurred" over the weekend. But three sources familiar with the case confirmed the search of Kernell's residence. No documents have been made public showing what equipment or evidence agents had seized.

The sources requested anonymity because the investigation is ongoing and no charges have yet been filed.

Although charges may be filed, none was believed to be imminent, according to the sources.
Palin's email account was hacked, and some of the contents were displayed briefly last week on an Internet website.

Although the displayed messages did not contain significant political disclosures, the McCain-Palin campaign issued a statement calling the incident "a shocking invasion of the governor's privacy and a violation of law."

Why does the press jump on a story that implicates guilt before the alleged is to be found guilty?

Another convenient distraction for the Republicans to get away from the important issues?

What about Troopergate? Another Republican cover-up?

Why not google Anne Kilkenny to get the real truth on Ms Palin?

Catherine   September 22nd, 2008 3:53 pm ET

Can't he just ignore the subpoena like Todd Palin and the others have????

I love how the McCain/Palin Camp and republicans are all over this investigation and pressing the investigation about e-mail hacking but don't care at all about the investigation into the possible abuse of power by Palin with the Montegan and Wooten investigation.

Just another example of the republican double standard. Republicans as such hypocrites.

David   September 22nd, 2008 3:49 pm ET

Hacking into a yahoo.com email account is a simple thing to do. As a Govenor and Public figure (who's personal background and information can be found with a quick Google search) Govenor Palin should have known better than to open such an unsecure account for any reason.

Remember, the internet is only as safe as your ability to stay safe online. Otherwise you risk some very bad surprises.

Andy - Atlanta, GA   September 22nd, 2008 3:48 pm ET

David Kernell should marry someone who is running for office. According to (the Palin interpretation of) the law, he could then decide not to cooperate with the investigation.

Obama is REAL Change   September 22nd, 2008 3:48 pm ET

So this BOY is search by the FBI, But Palin is running for one of the MOST important position in the world and she isn't VETTED by the FBI? Palin also can get her husband and the rest of the bulling posse (Grown people) to NOT follow the law and show up for the case where they, especially her ABUSED HER POWER toward her bother in law and his boss.

I SEE why she thinks she is above the LAW....................

If this is how she and her family are going to act in the White House, GOD help us! If this boy was held accountable for his actions, WHY does her and her husband (& co posse) can break the law and disregard a COURT ordered document, and not be arrested?

Calvin   September 22nd, 2008 3:47 pm ET

Since Democrats are big believers in privacy, they should be forgiven when they are found hacking into other people's emails.

Matt in Dallas   September 22nd, 2008 3:44 pm ET

You know it really doesn't matter if she used Yahoo! Mail, the US Mail or the Pony Express. If someone choosed to invade her privacy then that is a felony. I hope the kid gets some jail time.

I'd actually like to see if he did this on his own accord or if someone put him up to it. You never know.

li   September 22nd, 2008 3:44 pm ET

"Shouldn't they be investigating Palin instead?"
"CNN how come your not finding out why she used Yahoo for Gov business."

Doesn't matter. Separate issues....invalid arguments.

It is a federal crime to hack someone's personal email. It is another crime to post this information onto the internet and furhtermore it is another crime to post contact information of minors (in this case Palin's children). Some nut actually called one of her daughters on her cell phone! And no they are not fair game because they went on stage with her. The other candidates did too. There are laws to protect children no matter who their parents are.

Just because you don't like republicans or disagree with their policies, doesn't mean they don't have rights just like you do. If this happened to the Bidens or the Obamas you'd cry foul.

Hilary B   September 22nd, 2008 3:44 pm ET

I'm not going to be the least bit surprised if the Republicans try to use this to their advantage and put out an ad about it.

Now, if only we can get Palin, et. al, to be held accountable for their unethical acts.......

Andy - Atlanta, GA   September 22nd, 2008 3:43 pm ET

Why won't anyone hack McCain's eMail?

..oh that's right, he doesn't know how to use it.

He invented the Blackberry though!

mahogany   September 22nd, 2008 3:41 pm ET

Does Palin really think she can lie her way into the white house. She has been telling lies since day one! Shes running for the highest office in the country, and with that–there is no more privacy! She brought her kids out there and now has decided that they shouldn't be exposed to whats really going on. Palin and Mccain are definetely a perfect match, both telling one lie after the other. Wake up people and smell the coffee!

phil-texas   September 22nd, 2008 3:41 pm ET

You know what the scum b i is looking fordon't you ? Anything that they can use to tie this hacker to Obama just wait and see.

Blue Collar Workers for Obama   September 22nd, 2008 3:38 pm ET

They also need to search Todd Palin's office and computer. Why is he involved in Alaskan Gov business. Also why is Sarah using Yahoo and not the official government e-mail.

WHAT DOES SHE HAVE TO HIDE....

Andy - Atlanta, GA   September 22nd, 2008 3:35 pm ET

McCain did it! He invented the Blackberry you know!

sandee in Portland   September 22nd, 2008 3:34 pm ET

I agree that the "kid" shouldn't have hacked into anyone's e-mail account, but she was dishonest in using her Yahoo account for government business. Her personal Yahoo account had no transparency like her official account. She thought she could use it and nothing in it would be subject to disclosure. I, personally, am happy this "kid" brought this to light. Just like everything else to do with Palin, she has no integrity, no honesty and if I hear her whinny minnie mouse voice one more time, I'm going to shoot my TV.

Spencer from VA   September 22nd, 2008 3:34 pm ET

Can you be more idiotic? What did Palin's 17 year old daughter get behaving like a ho, from mom or dad?

milo   September 22nd, 2008 3:30 pm ET

"Palin did NOT use her yahoo e-mail for Alaska Government business."

She absolutely did. Her staff admitted to it weeks ago, before the hack, and there is evidence of it from emails obtained legally by investigations.

I'm ashamed I was a Democrat for 30 years. This hate filled campaign run by Obama, the underhanded tricks he uses while spouting hope and change is disgusting. His constant demeaning of women and the horrible way he played the race card to destroy the Clintons turned me off my party to the point that I would never consider voting for this man. Now all his pathetic supproters will say I was never a Democrat, well I volunteered, I donated and I always vote, so keep your uninformed opinions to yourselves. I love how you always explain to everyone how smart you are in your posts, to bad all the spelling mistakes say otherwise. If one of you could tell me one thing that Obama accomplished in the Senate, I would be amazed. You can't because there is nothing, oh maybe the record for the most time missed is something you think he should be proud of.

Karl42   September 22nd, 2008 3:28 pm ET

Exactly, she's just dumb.

Hillary Democrat, if you really feel that the McCain/Palin ticket is any closer to what you believe in than Obama, then I feel sorry for you if you drive a car - imagine not knowing the difference between a right turn and a left turn!

Maureen / Calif.   September 22nd, 2008 3:27 pm ET

Our tax dollars have to pay for this "Huge E-Mail Bust"! All because Palin is to stupid to realize that a Yahoo account might not be as secure as her govermnent account. Get a clue prom queen!!

keepitreal50   September 22nd, 2008 3:25 pm ET

If Palin wasn't doing something she shouldn't have been doing (using her private e-mail account to hide state business) then it most likely wouldn't have happened. She is obviously hiding something and she has drawn unwanted attention to herself. She may be living in a virtual cloud of law suits by the end of this ordeal. Palin is lying to the public straight faced and that's all there is to it. Fortunately Obama will be our next POTUS so we can at least breath easy that she won't get her corrupt finger near THE BUTTON.

Independent FL voter   September 22nd, 2008 3:24 pm ET

Rob:

I pick #2.

If the emails were totally innocent and open to public scrutiny anyway, why is the FBI involved? Do you think the FBI would be investigating if this happened to you? I promise you they wouldn't–I can't even get the local cops to investigate who broke into my car recently.

Perhaps the bigger question is, would you, or anyone else running for the second-highest office in the land be STUPID enough to conduct government business on a Yahoo email account?

And the biggest question of all, how many people will be stupid enough to vote for a ticket that includes such a moron?

Hello McBush supporters do you want VP or a heart beat away from being P Palin to put national security information on Yahoo? Yes young folks like to hack systems, it is wrong but they do it just the same... a Yahoo account is just a joke ... a minor challenge for some of the smart young ones hence, Palin should have more sense then to use Yahoo.... now she is not wise enough to not put official Gov information on Yahoo do you seriously think she has the intellect to be our VP of USA? give me a break!!!!

I am not saying that hacking is the right thing to do because it is against the law. Palin should have never had official Alaska government business on her personal e-mail in the first place. It appears that she was trying to escape public & government scruinity by using her personal e-mail address. So, as the old adage goes – what's done is the dark will come to the light.

Well, I think the thinking that came up with that name says it all. But, humor me, instead of throwing out a bunch of crud to see what sticks, how about giving us some details?

See, McCain's and Palin's lies are all well documented. They have lied and lied and lied because they believe voters aren't smart enough to see through that.

Gosh, I would hope that wasn't true.

Ellemn Rudolf   September 22nd, 2008 3:15 pm ET

There are more than enough instances of wrongdoing in the Palin bio.
Who knows what the reasons for such are. It appears that she is inexperienced and was feeling her way to being Governor. That's fine. However, these actions cnnot be replicted on a higher level. Whether one liks or hate the candidates, the point is we should not be as sheep following where led w/out questioning. Mrs. Palin is not ready. This much was clear from the interviews donr by her, when she lacked the support and bolster of a prompter.

markymark22   September 22nd, 2008 3:15 pm ET

All the left-wing liberals who complained so much about wiretapping, etc. now don't even ackowledge there is anything wrong with this and say Palin shouldn't be using it. Remember your words when your account gets hacked into too. Oh thats right, it's only wrong if a Republican does it?

Misguided smart young people do this kind of things. Wrong as they are I blame the stupid Palin for using yahoo personal e-mail account for government related matters. She is scary.

Matt   September 22nd, 2008 3:11 pm ET

This is simple: Palin either paid the kid to do it or has set him up, so she could delete her email accounts and make it so much harder for the legislature's investigation to obtain her emails.

Now, that's about as believeable and just as crazy as saying Obama's campaign had something to do with this.

The REAL investigation is the one of Palin, and the entire media is avoiding it like the plague because they don't want to see the polls dip too far in Obama's favor.

milo   September 22nd, 2008 3:11 pm ET

"If nothing else, this incident proves that Palin wasn't doing anything wrong."

Doing government business on private email is wrong. Period.

She put public security at risk, and someone took advantage of her negligence. She absolutely should NOT be let off the hook, she screwed up and she needs to face the consequences of her carelessness.

Tony   September 22nd, 2008 3:11 pm ET

Hey Rob:

I know that if I were totally innocent of the charges against me, had nothing to hide and asked to be held accountable as Palin has been screeching from the rootops for months, I would sue to try and stop the investigation as well.

She is as guilty as they come and I sure hope McCain's numbers plummet after October 10th when she is found guilty.

Way to go, genius...   September 22nd, 2008 3:10 pm ET

The hack was so sloppy that it's obviously not the work of someone tied in any way to anything. The kid posted that he hacked Palin's email with an account with an email address tied to his own easily verifiable personal e-mail account.

Why not just post your glorious hack on your myspace page, idiot?

The real issue is not that the son of a Democrat hacked Palin's account, it's that Palin is using an easily accessible email account for GOVERNMENTAL use! Not because it's "skirting the email logging", but because it's a tremendous security risk!

Do you really want someone THIS unsavvy with technology, backing up someone's who is EVEN LESS SAVVY with technology running the entire nation!?

California Gold   September 22nd, 2008 3:10 pm ET

So why is she now refusing to cooperate with the investigation as to her actions as Governor? Why is her husband in contempt of court for ignoring his subpoena? She charges rape victims for their forensic rape kits. She is shockingly uneducated as to national and international politics. Who cares about her e-mail.

Louis   September 22nd, 2008 3:09 pm ET

...AND JUSTICE FOR SOME–Does anyone else see the irony that the FBI is rapidly investigating this hacker while Palin, who is under investigation, has her buddies totally ignore state issued supoenas? She refuses to cooperate with a state investigation run by a bipartisan commission, but the FBI jumps to help her. No wonder people are cynical about our system of justice.

See Giuliani or Frewd Thompson or Palin herself at the Republican convention?

Seen any of McCain's ads full of lies? What do you expect Obama to do? Sit back, say "Gee, that isn't nice", and just move on?

A violation of law, like the Palin team refusing to appear after being subpoenaed? They sound like members of the current administration already. There is nothing new that Palin will being to Washington, just the same cover -ups, nonaccountability, and stonewalling we have been subjected to during the Bush years.

Anna PA   September 22nd, 2008 3:03 pm ET

You McCain followers are funny saying that Obama had something to do with this. He just doesn't have the time, with all the lies and stupid comments that are continually coming out of either McCain or Palin mouth. Obama is just to busy squashing all their ridiculous trash talk.

There is no way Obama had a part in this. Know why? Because....I know Barack Obama and Barack Obama is no George Bush or John McCain!!!

Jennifer   September 22nd, 2008 3:03 pm ET

It is illegal to hack into someone's e-mail, whether you think they're doing something wrong or not. He did not "do a good thing", he broke the law and if someone hacked into your e-mail, you want them arrested too.

Lee   September 22nd, 2008 3:03 pm ET

leave it to the democraps to hack and voter register 14 year olds.
Go PUMA's
Go McCain – Palin

Voter   September 22nd, 2008 3:01 pm ET

Where's her TAX RETURNS?????

She claims transparency agenda – but isn't transparent and is acting above the law in legal matters

"Internet Checkbook" claim – umm, Obama already did that... stop claiming you're going to create it for ethics/visibility when someone else already did it!

I bet she didn't pay taxes on her per diem for either her or her kids "travel expenses"

McCain for Pres.   September 22nd, 2008 3:01 pm ET

Democrats won't convince anybody but Obama followers that they are not trying to discredit Sarah Palin because they fear her popularity.

Luka   September 22nd, 2008 3:01 pm ET

Cracking someone's E-Mail account is disgusting, even if it is Sarah Palin's (who made disgusting remarks about hockey mom's on her own).
There is no political end that can justify such low means, and I hope young David will learn that by cracking an E-mail account he did nothing to be proud of.

That being said, I am certain that B. Obama agrees with my statements and denounces this misguided political activism.
On the other hand, I am reasonably confident that Karl Rove would have no scruples in cracking such an account, publishing all of its content and denouncing his opponent for any private piece of information that he may have gathered in the process.

Luckily, Obama knows better than to use yahoo mail for government purposes, and Karl does not know how to hack computers.

Johnnie B.   September 22nd, 2008 3:00 pm ET

Palin appeal would be over after her first unscripted interview. The woman who represent conservative principles has a shady lifestyle. The media is failing the public again. If there was infedelity or teenage pregnacy in Obama's family it would have been emphasized on CNN and every major news outlet in the country.

TerryDoRight   September 22nd, 2008 3:00 pm ET

Why isn't he in jail?

Are you serious   September 22nd, 2008 2:59 pm ET

You used yahoo to do government business, I know at my job I would get fired for sending business related stuff via personal email.

Karla   September 22nd, 2008 2:58 pm ET

Isn't is funny that the FBI is searching this kids home and they still can't get Todd and his "dude crew" to answer a subpoena.

David Goldman for OBAMA   September 22nd, 2008 2:58 pm ET

SOUNDS TO ME LIKE THE BUSH & MCBUSH

FORCES FOUND A WAY TO MAKE HIM BACK UP.

WON'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE MCSTUPID WILL LOSE.

The Nightingale Sings in Berkley Square   September 22nd, 2008 2:57 pm ET

I think all the Democrats to include Obama should be investigated by the FBI, CIA and some other alphabet organizations.

I can't believe the DNC would approve this, but they did approve dissing Hillary out of the nomination.

Vote for McCain. He will protect our values and our country. Obama is a risk and he is scary. I don't want to roll the dice for my freedom. Vote for McCain.

MD, TX   September 22nd, 2008 2:57 pm ET

Keep digging and the trail will lead to Obama, guaranteed. Obama is a Chicago thug, nothing more.

David   September 22nd, 2008 2:56 pm ET

Democrats engaging in illegal activities? How could this happen President Clinton? LOL.

CNN = Jerry Springer of news   September 22nd, 2008 2:56 pm ET

This is wrong and the person who did this should be punished. Even though Palin using her home email for work purposes is very Cheney-esque, that doesn't make hacking into her account acceptable. This person should cooperate with the law as well as Todd Palin should honor his subpoena for the 'Troopergate' investigation.

Obama-Biden '08

Dr. Mimi De La Cruz for OBAMA   September 22nd, 2008 2:55 pm ET

BUSH SENT THE BOYS TO GRAB THE MAN'S SON.

THAT IS A GOOD & SURE WAY TO MAKE HIM STOP.

lyn   September 22nd, 2008 2:54 pm ET

The people of America want to know what this woman Palin is hiding. It have to be very dishonest for the McSame camp to stop the investigation in Wasilla, so I don't blame anyone for being interested.

Tired of W, OH   September 22nd, 2008 2:53 pm ET

Come on! This sure stinks like a setup. I imagine the plan went something like this:

1) McCain's poll numbers were falling, so a distraction was called for.
2) They set the bait of an unsecure Yahoo e-mail account, which should never be used for official business because of privacy concerns.
3) They waited for some idiot kid to take the bait (anyone that would take the bait would presumably be from the opposing party).

Now they have their distraction and they can attempt to take the media's focus off of the horrendous week that McCain had. Anything so that they don't have to talk about the issues.

We've seen this before and anyone that follows politics have been expecting it.

Debby   September 22nd, 2008 2:53 pm ET

What was the purpose or did this kid think he would find out something to bring to the Obama campaign for the Oct. surprise. What a stupid move.

ran   September 22nd, 2008 2:52 pm ET

CNN how come your not finding out why she used Yahoo for Gov business.

People open your eyes and ears and vote Obama/Biden and other Democtats this time so we can get our country back.

John   September 22nd, 2008 2:52 pm ET

Let's remember that the subpoena issued to Gov. Palin was issued not by a court but by hostile state legislators. She is not active "above the law" because they do not have legal jurisdiction in the case or over the executive branch. On the other hand, I don't know how so many people can justify one person hacking another person's email account. I'm truly disgusted.

Phil, Ashburn, VA   September 22nd, 2008 2:51 pm ET

Why would you use simple security questions like date of birth etc. She is dumb.

fella from Chicago   September 22nd, 2008 2:51 pm ET

This is what happens when children hear disrespectful rhetoric preached in the home. The kid thought his Democratic daddy would praise him for illegally hacking into Governor Palin's computer. Maybe son, but now he can give you an atta boy while you're serving time in a Federal prison.

Jesse from Berlin   September 22nd, 2008 2:50 pm ET

Are they that fast? why don´t they react about the Troopergate?

Interesting   September 22nd, 2008 2:48 pm ET

Who's searching Sarah & Todd for the truth in Troopergate?

Rob, Washington   September 22nd, 2008 2:48 pm ET

Wow, all you people need to lighten up. If nothing else, this incident proves that Palin wasn't doing anything wrong.

See, here's the deal. One of the things gathered was that yes, she sent email to people in her government from the yahoo email address. However, those emails were to alaska.gov email addresses.

Those alaska.gov email addresses, anything sent to or from them, would be logged in accordance with government logging rules and FOIA laws.

If she was trying to skirt those rules, WHY WOULD SHE EMAIL ACCOUNTS THAT WOULD SAVE THE EMAILS ANYWAY?

There's only two reasons for that. 1) She wasn't trying to do anything wrong, and maybe it was more convenience. 2) She has no clue how email works and is just dumb.

Goddess   September 22nd, 2008 2:47 pm ET

I am more concerned that Palin and her cohorts are ignoring the subpeonas....but that is just me. Lets worry about the emails on yahoo and ignore the more serious crime being committed.

Sammy   September 22nd, 2008 2:46 pm ET

Tell you what McCain supporters....

I will say the democratic party had a hand in getting into Palin's email if you say the republican party is tampering with people's right to vote.

Sally   September 22nd, 2008 2:46 pm ET

Why is Palin Not being investigated ?????

Why was Palin using personal mail for Govt. business ????

If the e-mails for Govt. business, they belong to the Government, Not to Palin.

When you work for a company and use company mail for personal use, the mail is the property of the company.

Palin should be Fired !

White Mother for Obama!!   September 22nd, 2008 2:45 pm ET

So they are ready to throw someone in jail over email hacking that didnt result to anything important.....

BUT.... her husband and her and her staff can ignore a supoena and not be thrown in jail???

Where is the law here?????

Trina   September 22nd, 2008 2:43 pm ET

Oh, come on. I tried to post this a minute ago but the comment system has apparently failed me.

Sarah Palin's e-mail never got "hacked". Hacked is the wrong word. If this is hacking, then anyone with half a brain and the ability to use Google can do it.

She was using a Yahoo e-mail address for one (one of the least secure e-mail providers I've seen), and she had set her Account Security Question to "What is my zip code?" C'mon, the kid wasn't being vicious – he got lucky. Chances are, if she would have secured her account just a little bit better this "scandal" would have never happened. Oh, and nothing of real value was found.

Chalk this one up to the GOP trying to make something out of nothing, once again.

Hillary Democrat   September 22nd, 2008 2:43 pm ET

The democrats are desperate. They will do any thing illegally to win. I am so glad Hillary not the VP choice...she deserves better than an Obama ticket run by crooks like Pelosi and Reid and the Chicago Mafia.
McCain in 2008 and Hillary in 2012

Mike in Oregon   September 22nd, 2008 2:42 pm ET

The FBI is probably waiting to file charges until they have scoured his hard drive and identified other obamabot hackers and then charge them ALL!

Obamabots what ya gonna do when thry come for you!

Carmen   September 22nd, 2008 2:41 pm ET

Yep, it's Obama's fault. Just like the fall of Wall Street is his fault, just like everytime McCain/Palin get caught in one of their obsurd speeches, it suddenly becomes Obama's fault. Give me a break. If all you people spent some of your time 'listening' to what the candidates are saying instead of reading what someone says they said, you could all make better judgement calls on who you should vote for.

Go OBAMA/BIDEN

Bruce   September 22nd, 2008 2:41 pm ET

well this is not as bad as Watergate and the repubs did their best to cover that up so Nixon could get elected. besides that why was the govenor of a state keeping an yahoo email account for government business...does Alaska state governement not have an email? Or oculd it be that she needed this for other reasons, like keeping other informed of governement issues and policies....
remember I was for the bridge before I was against it....LOL
She and McCain are a joke....

Shay   September 22nd, 2008 2:41 pm ET

Poor Sarah Palin! She should have been using the government's email. Serves her right! Trying to hide information by using her personal email.

It appears Republicans nor the media question her use of her personal email to conduct governmental business! WHY IS THAT???

This woman could be the biggest crook and the Republicans would grin and say she's a hockey mom!!!! So she must be okay!

PLEASE! Are you people liviing under rocks??????

chelle   September 22nd, 2008 2:40 pm ET

I find it interesting how quickly they found this hacker.... took no time at all... Did his parents turn him in? A friend? I mean he hacked a Yahoo account...that has to be a little hard to back trace?

I still can't believe the woman who wants to be VP would use a private account to conduct official state business...no protections...nothing.... That's who I want knowing federal secrets..... YIKES!!!!!

mitchell   September 22nd, 2008 2:39 pm ET

as long as he doesn't have to answer a subpoena, then who cares?

d   September 22nd, 2008 2:38 pm ET

obama sucks

FBI what?   September 22nd, 2008 2:38 pm ET

If any regular person had their personal email account hacked, the FBI would almost NEVER be dispatched. Her social status is the only reason why they even care...

John   September 22nd, 2008 2:37 pm ET

Common Democrats, just take it. Your guy got caught with his pants down. It really shows that Democrats does not have any answer to the Sarah Palin's rise to popularity, instead they have to take the dirtiest trick. I hope they finds this guy guilty and sent to jail. He is still innocent until proven guilty.

Joe   September 22nd, 2008 2:34 pm ET

CNN finally reported something on this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cathy   September 22nd, 2008 2:34 pm ET

I'm sure the McCain camp will blame this on Obama.

DECIDED   September 22nd, 2008 2:33 pm ET

This is crazyy!!!! Funny how Republicans are going INSANE by the minute trying to blame this on Democrats!!! Tards Tarados y retardados

liz radka   September 22nd, 2008 2:32 pm ET

Jeez, it must really suck to have your privacy invaded like that.

That reminds me of something...its on the tip of my tongue...what is it now...ooooh yeah – FISA!!!!

I find it hilarious that the Republicans of all people are crying over invasion of privacy.

BV   September 22nd, 2008 2:31 pm ET

You know, when I am conducting important business that I want to keep private, I trust Yahoo! as the place where I know the security is impregnable. I mean, come on! Kudos to Sarah Palin for choosing to run her state using Yahoo accounts rather than FBI protected (and court permissable) FEDERAL e-mail that would have been FAR more protected.
The real question is: Why wasn't the federally protected e-mail good enough? What did Sarah Palin not want taxpayers or the federal government to SEE in her e-mail?
This is what happens when you're stupid enough to run your government using Yahoo e-mail accounts. If some 20 year old doofus can hack into your e-mail, how safe does that make you feel about TERRORISTS doing the same thing?
Sarah Palin: Not ready to lead.

Ex-Hillary Suporter   September 22nd, 2008 2:30 pm ET

Fact check people. Palin did NOT use her yahoo e-mail for Alaska Government business.
They said they found one e-mail to a fellow Senator, but the discussion in the e-mail was only about their children.
If your going to slam someone, at least get your facts straight!

The Dems Dirty Play, and Lie spreading is only pushing me to the republican side. And I'm sure I'm not the only one!

kim   September 22nd, 2008 2:29 pm ET

Its been said and I will say it again, if palin and her whooped husband dont have to talk, even though she wants to be vp, then this kid shouldnt either. FYI, does the whole palin not talking remind you of the current white house, I mean, is she going to get that "executive privlage" when shes VP like bush gave cheney? OH well too bad she has no chance in HELL of EVER seeing the inside of the white house.

Frank   September 22nd, 2008 2:28 pm ET

The Democrats are a dirty lot!

Broad street buddy   September 22nd, 2008 2:27 pm ET

CNN thanks for finally pointing out all of McCains lies with these new fact check stories. Its about time you report the lies instead of repeating the lies in your typical he said she said style of reporting that rarely focuses on the facts.

Doug in Renton, WA   September 22nd, 2008 2:26 pm ET

I see some comments on here from people who actually believe this is Obama's fault. Wow! How completely delusional! This was a child's prank folks. Nothing more.

BTW, this kid has already admitted he did it and even told us how. Why exactly is the FBI knocking down doors over this??? Answer: because Bush and Company have delivered to us a virtual police state. Thank you for voting Republican.

ANGIE   September 22nd, 2008 2:25 pm ET

WE HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT SARA PALIN WE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE FED UP WITH BEING LIED TOO ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ANGIE   September 22nd, 2008 2:24 pm ET

Watch this will be obamas fault like mccain says the gas prices are obamas fault the current situation on wall street and the economy is obamas fault LETS BE CLEAR SENATOR MCCAIN ITS NOT OBAMAS FAULT THAT YOUR PITBULL IS CORRUPT AND LYING AND WONT FACE THE INVESTIGATION,ITS NOT OBAMAS FAULT YOU SHOWED POOR JUDGEMENT MY FRIEND AND PICKED A CORUPT UNQUALIFIED LYING VP!!!!!!! STOP THE BLAME GAME SIR!

Jon   September 22nd, 2008 2:23 pm ET

I love how people are jumping to the conclusion that the kid is a Democrat simply because his father is. I know plenty of families where kids are the complete opposite politically-speaking.

Moreover, the kid probably did this simply because he saw a challenge. After all, the CW is that kids don't care about politics, right?

Sarah Bell   September 22nd, 2008 2:22 pm ET

Oh boy. Here it comes. Wait for it. McCain will blame this on Obama. Just like he blames Obama for the economic crisis. Like he blames Obama for forcing McCain to go negative by not agreeing to town hall meetings. Like he blames Obama for race playing a part in this election. Everything's Obama's fault. We lost vietnam because of Obama....

Rev Wright   September 22nd, 2008 2:22 pm ET

He was just following the Dem Philosphy whats yours is mine.....Kind of like the Obama tax plan

Bill   September 22nd, 2008 2:20 pm ET

The son of a Democratic Politician. Are we surprised? The Dems will stoop to anything to get elected.

Michelle from DA Bronx, NY   September 22nd, 2008 2:19 pm ET

If it turns out that this young man was responsible for the hacking of Sarah Palin's e-mail account, I am sure that the fact that his father is an elected democratic official is purely coincidence. After all it is awidely known that the democratic party is without fault on any thing and it is those mean, nasty, liars of the republican party that are the cause of all the problems in the world.

J from DC   September 22nd, 2008 2:19 pm ET

The question is, Why investigate this case, And not answer questions about the more important case, on the tropper, and abuse of power. Which case is more vitle for the american people? Thats what the McCain people should be asked. I have not seen the emails, so this guy means nothing to me. I want to hear the answers, about the tropper, from Palin and her husband.

Ian Minneapolis, MN   September 22nd, 2008 2:19 pm ET

Oh please. Now she is distracting everyone from her own investigation. Listen, it's not that I hate republicans or I hate McCain, it's because I can't believe people are ACTUALLY buying this Palin Propaganda crap. Lord, have mercy on us all.

Bulldog   September 22nd, 2008 2:16 pm ET

I'm sure the McCain camp will try to make this a HUGE political issue and try to blame Obama somehow. They are a bunch of crooked liars.

NORA, FLORIDA   September 22nd, 2008 2:16 pm ET

Funny that Palin and McCain camps have their undies in bunch because her email was hacked but why was she conducting govermental affairs on her private email accounts anyways should be the bigger question???? No one is wanting to ask that. What is she hiding?

The republicans are the same ones that want to invade our privacies but HELL breaks loose when it is done to them. DOUBLE STANDARDS!!!

SK   September 22nd, 2008 2:16 pm ET

Just wait for the McCain camp to blame Obama for hacking the account.

mike   September 22nd, 2008 2:16 pm ET

A demorat of course.

Silence Dogood   September 22nd, 2008 2:16 pm ET

Obama is at it again. See how he influences his followers? He may not have told this guy to do it, but the influence is there and Obama knows it very well.

When your leader feels he is above the rules and law as he has shown, why are we surprised? Of course this smug, elite attitude is going to make a certain part of his faithful think this way. It all starts to seem OK to lie and break laws themselves.

I actually had a follower tell me the other day it was probably OK to "do anything" to get him in office. Scary indeed.

J from DC   September 22nd, 2008 2:15 pm ET

Work related e-mail, belongs to the Job. Not the person.

E-mail wire for Obama brigade   September 22nd, 2008 2:14 pm ET

The democrats have lost their way- their obsession with installing Obama has over ridden common sense, common decency, the democratic process and even the rules of their own party.

Now it is "win at any cost, by any means available".

Obama is a menace to the democratic process.

Ex-Republican for Obama   September 22nd, 2008 2:14 pm ET

Be certain to make public the emails that involve state business being conducted by Sarah Palin. While it is by no means acceptabe to have hacked her e-mail account, it is now responsible to take the evidence that this provides in her abuse of power as well as her unethical conduct using public email to circumvent laws.

Her, her husbands and her cohorts outright refusal to co-operate with the judicial system should be extended to any and all citizens of this country, including those being investigated on her request.

If it's ok for her or her hubby or her co-conspirators to disregard subpoenas, then it should be for everyone else in this great country.

Dave C - NJ   September 22nd, 2008 2:14 pm ET

Countdown until this is front page news on Fox and the brainiacs on the right start screaming on the blogs in 10, 9, 8, .......

Cindy from NC   September 22nd, 2008 2:14 pm ET

I bet you if this kid will have to go to court if he is ISSUED A Subpoena ...he will have to comply OR FACE JAIL.

Palin makes me sick.

Eating Buffalo Wings in Heaven with Russert   September 22nd, 2008 2:13 pm ET

Is anyone here stunned that the kid of a democrat may have done this? Good Lord, has the DNC gotten that desperate that they'd either stoop to such a level themselves and blame their kids, or that they'd encourage their kids to do this?

Shameful. Change we can what, Obamabots?

PRINT THIS CNN, you bunch of pro-obamabot sympathizers.

McCain Bill1991   September 22nd, 2008 2:12 pm ET

that's OK David...you can always pull a Todd and not cooperate, if they sapeona you, you can say ..."no, i dont think i am going to talk to you". i mean if it works for Palin why not the rest of us?

Hitler Youth for Obama   September 22nd, 2008 2:12 pm ET

The democrats are the ones behaving in a despicable fashion this election cycle.

Obama has inspired an army of vitriolic followers who do not respect nor care for the democratic process.

Obama has destroyed the democratic party with his dirty Chicago style politics.

Gidget Goes To Washington   September 22nd, 2008 2:11 pm ET

Im sure the GOP idiots will somehow say Obama did it.

Feminist Julie   September 22nd, 2008 2:11 pm ET

Shouldn't they be investigating Palin instead? Prisons are built for Republicans. They all end up there. Obama’s rise in the polls recently is because NOW, the National Organization of Women has endorsed Obama/Biden. Because there is no woman on the Democrat ticket. There are too many women in high office already, and anyway, women really are not equipped to be giving orders to anybody other than children at a school or daycare.

Dave   September 22nd, 2008 2:11 pm ET

figures

Troopergate   September 22nd, 2008 2:11 pm ET

Stick to the main story please. Yes it's back to hack computers, but what's worse is to blatantly ignore court subpoenas like you're above the law.

Peter (CA)   September 22nd, 2008 2:11 pm ET

And the McCain right wingers will tie this to Obama...

Boye   September 22nd, 2008 2:09 pm ET

I wouldn't be surprised if someone from the McCain campaign comes out and blames Obama for this one (especially since it's the son of a Democrat).

Alec   September 22nd, 2008 2:09 pm ET

That kid did a good thing. Leave him alone. She deserved it.

Doug R.   September 22nd, 2008 2:09 pm ET

I think Palin owes an explanation to the American public why she was using her personal e-mail account for official Alaska business.

Michael   September 22nd, 2008 2:08 pm ET

Like father, like son.

mitchell   September 22nd, 2008 2:07 pm ET
