FBI searches home of lawmaker's son in Palin e-mail hacking

(CNN) - FBI agents investigating the hacking of a personal email account belonging to Alaska governor Sarah Palin have searched the home of the son of a Democratic state legislator, federal law enforcement sources said Monday.

The search occurred late Saturday and early Sunday at the Knoxville home of David Kernell, 20, son of Memphis Democrat Mike Kernell.

Officially, Justice Department spokeswoman Laura Sweeney acknowledged Monday only that "investigative activity occurred" over the weekend. But three sources familiar with the case confirmed the search of Kernell's residence. No documents have been made public showing what equipment or evidence agents had seized.

The sources requested anonymity because the investigation is ongoing and no charges have yet been filed.

Although charges may be filed, none was believed to be imminent, according to the sources.
Palin's email account was hacked, and some of the contents were displayed briefly last week on an Internet website.

Although the displayed messages did not contain significant political disclosures, the McCain-Palin campaign issued a statement calling the incident "a shocking invasion of the governor's privacy and a violation of law."

Palin appeal would be over after her first unscripted interview. The woman who represent conservative principles has a shady lifestyle. The media is failing the public again. If there was infedelity or teenage pregnacy in Obama's family it would have been emphasized on CNN and every major news outlet in the country.

Cracking someone's E-Mail account is disgusting, even if it is Sarah Palin's (who made disgusting remarks about hockey mom's on her own).
There is no political end that can justify such low means, and I hope young David will learn that by cracking an E-mail account he did nothing to be proud of.

That being said, I am certain that B. Obama agrees with my statements and denounces this misguided political activism.
On the other hand, I am reasonably confident that Karl Rove would have no scruples in cracking such an account, publishing all of its content and denouncing his opponent for any private piece of information that he may have gathered in the process.

Luckily, Obama knows better than to use yahoo mail for government purposes, and Karl does not know how to hack computers.

Democrats won't convince anybody but Obama followers that they are not trying to discredit Sarah Palin because they fear her popularity.

    Where's her TAX RETURNS?????

She claims transparency agenda – but isn't transparent and is acting above the law in legal matters

"Internet Checkbook" claim – umm, Obama already did that... stop claiming you're going to create it for ethics/visibility when someone else already did it!

I bet she didn't pay taxes on her per diem for either her or her kids "travel expenses"

It is illegal to hack into someone's e-mail, whether you think they're doing something wrong or not. He did not "do a good thing", he broke the law and if someone hacked into your e-mail, you want them arrested too.

You McCain followers are funny saying that Obama had something to do with this. He just doesn't have the time, with all the lies and stupid comments that are continually coming out of either McCain or Palin mouth. Obama is just to busy squashing all their ridiculous trash talk.

There is no way Obama had a part in this. Know why? Because....I know Barack Obama and Barack Obama is no George Bush or John McCain!!!

A violation of law, like the Palin team refusing to appear after being subpoenaed? They sound like members of the current administration already. There is nothing new that Palin will being to Washington, just the same cover -ups, nonaccountability, and stonewalling we have been subjected to during the Bush years.

He should not respond to any summons to appear at court if they do charge him ...If the laws don't apply to Repugnants then they should not apply to anyone.

So what? Where's the investigation of Palin? That's the important one. This is just more distraction. Kids do stupid things...like getting pregos at age 17...and it means nothing with respect to this election. Palin's ethical behavior, or likely lack thereof, mean far more. I want to see some capeas up there in AK.

Stop posting garbage like "Hillary Democrat's" posting CNN. You can tell it's just some Republican whiner faking to be an embittered Clinton supporter. You skip posting valuable posts with facts and insight in them in favor of that crap? For real?

I notice a lot of hypocrits (a.k.a. republicans) posting here about the Democrats being the ones that always break the law. Give me a break. I'm not saying that all Democrats are squeaky clean, but take a look in the mirror before you start casting stones. Just in case you need a little reminder of some of the criminal offenses:

    1) Larry Craig, Foley, and all the other "family-values" repubs.
    2) Subpoena dodging.
    3) Iraq war crimes.
    4) Warrentless wiretapping.
    5) Keating5.
    6) Katrina (death by negligence).
    7) Torture.
    8) Valerie Plame.

Feel free to add to the list.

Thank God for that young American doing some investigative reporting since the Palin's do not want to cooperate with the investigation. He should be given a medal.

GO GET "BIG GUYS" We need accountability here. This is serious stuff. It shows that we are vigiliant on matters of security. Not just the candidates but on the laws that we live by. The "shoe " would certainly be on the "other foot if it had been ob's wife ! This is a case of the " pot ---- etc." What's good for the goose is good for the gander ! I'm glad they're finally investigating.

I have my doubts this guy is guilty, from the info available it looks more like someone else wrote a confession and slapped his email on it.

If Palin hadn't been so irresponsible, using yahoo to do government business, we wouldn't even be reading about this.

    Hey Silence-

Been paying attention to the campaign?
See Giuliani or Frewd Thompson or Palin herself at the Republican convention?

Seen any of McCain's ads full of lies? What do you expect Obama to do? Sit back, say "Gee, that isn't nice", and just move on?

Kerry did that and look what happened. Breaking laws is what your people do. From the thugs in the Bush administration on down. Maybe even your shining hope, Gov. Palin. She sure seems to have a lot to hide.
