Obama pulls out of North Dakota

(CNN) – Barack Obama's campaign appears to be ending its push for North Dakota, a state that hasn't voted Democratic in a presidential election for more than 40 years.

Obama's campaign confirms to CNN it is pulling staffers from the state and sending them to two key nearby battlegrounds: Wisconsin and Minnesota. The Democratic nominee last visited North Dakota in early July.

President Bush carried North Dakota in 2004 by nearly 30 percentage points, though a recent American Research Group poll suggests McCain only holds a 9 point lead there. The Arizona senator currently has no paid staff in the state.

The Obama campaign has also pulled staff from Georgia, Idaho and Sarah Palin’s home state of Alaska - all historically red states that also initially appeared within striking distance.

This is just the way campaigning is done.

For all those horrified by this, McCain has a number of states he doesn't have campaign staff in, some where he leads and some where he's way behind.

It's really not a big deal, it's just smart strategy not wasting time and money on a state that's hopeless.

Just because the Obama campaign is pulling staffers out of North Dakota does not mean that North Dakotians can't still vote for Obama if they wish to.

The choice is still theirs to make.

I hope they make the right choice.

McCain was born in Panama, thus the name: John (the Panamanian Prevaricator) McCain.

These states voted for Bush twice.

Well, maybe we might have a little hope for them, since America
is in the biggest mess imaginable in every way.

McCain Palin trick was horrendous of him.
McCain does not tell the truth.
McCain wants to "privatize" your benefits!!!! Like "stock market trading
for S.S. Yes, he wants to put S.S. on the BLOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I understand why Obama is doing this.

It's like talking to a racist bigot until you're blue in the face by arguing and explaining the points on how and why racism is wrong...but it just won't matter. Some people just will never change their mind no matter how wrong they are.

Independent but Leaning - "Socialism stinks"

Look what Bush and his buddies are doing now on wall street....In one swoop, the govenment is bailing out these private companies. McCain is so out of touch with the American people.

The slogan for the wall street people should be:

    "Jump baby Jump."

Now all Obama supporters will say that all of ND is racist, they won't admit that the only person to inject race into this campaign was Obama, and the disgusting way he used it to demean and destroy Hillary and Bill Clinton. Perhaps the people of ND don't like his ideas, or the way he flip flops on issues like FISA, the surge and drilling. Maybe they think we you sign a pledge to accept public financing your word should mean something. Maybe they don't think it's appropriate to demean working women and call them bad mothers. Or I suppose the Obama campaign will just whine racism and tuck their tale between their legs and run home.

For those claim that whites are racist and then say that blacks historically vote over 90% for the democrat, therefore cannot be racist.... lets remember that blacks recently voted almost 95% for Obama over Clinton... explain that!

Obama needs to pull out of Florida too. We will never vote for an inexperienced empty suit, that did not want to count our votes. Democracy first.

I'm for Obama ! Herbert Hoover McCain doesn't have the leadership talent and the focus on the future a good President must have.

America's position in the World is based on 3 factors: Our moral leadership, our military strength, and our economic vitality.

This past week indicated America can not continue to depend on a weakening economy to provide the tax money for a strong National Defense. 4 more years of Herbert Hoover McCain will kill America.

I've been watching the bios of the Candidates, and their VP choices on the Television, and one thing I have noticed is that they interview old friends from the candidates past, and family members as well. You can get a lot of information about a person from those closest to them, but
why is it that the close friends, and or family members from Obama's past will not agree to interviews. They were asked, but declined to make statements (Obama's sister, grandmother, college friends, friends that Obama was close to that he mentions in his books)?
What are they hiding? Why does Obama have so many "Ghosts in his Past"?
Why isn't the press rushing all over the country to get informative information on Obama?

ISN'T THAT EXACTLY HOW THE RUSSIAN MEDIA WORKS FOR PUTIN ?
ISN'T THAT HOW THE IRAQI MEDIA WORKED FOR SADDAM HUSSEIN?
ISN'T THAT HOW THE MEDIA WORKS IN COMMUNISTIC COUNTRY'S?

SHAME ON YOU BIASED MEDIA! BIAS MEDIA COVERAGE IS UN-AMERICAN!

We all knew he had no chance in ND. We were impressed he even tried. I have no idea why ND keeps voting Republican for Governor and President and Democrat for House and Senate. I also can't imagine why a state full of farmers would vote for McCain, who has consistently been no friend to farmers.

Shoring up leaning states is a good strategy now. Especially if its done without any additional expense. With a blitz on those other states it forces Johnny to commit money to counteract and he can lose it easily that way.

The more states Obama puts into play, the more avenues he has to cross 270 electoral votes.
